Light coat of RTV in the seal channels of the case both side needed as well. Hence casing seal and bearing channels are part of the molding, not a milled process to make sure they are perfectly round, so the light coat of RTV is needed in the seal case channels so the outside of the seals get fully seal to the case channels as well.
To remove flywheel, position a punch on center of shaft, after removing flywheel nut. Strike punch with hammer, the shock will loosen flywheel. Remove by hand.
just screw the flywheel nut on the shift a few turns and hit the nut with a small hammer, sharply, and the flywheel will usually come off the shift. if not try a BFH.
The flywheel pops right off with a slight pry to the backside while tapping the loosened flywheel nut. Don't drill Hiles into it!!!! It is precisely balanced.
I had a customer that replaced hes own crank case and piston rings but engine fires but wont run unless I'm holding the throttle in and cuts out even when the throttle adjustment is on full, I did a compression test only showing just over 25 carb has been cleaned this one has got me
Well the compression should be well over 125 psi but you mentioned 25psi usually means there's air leak somewhere on the engine. Or worse case the cylinder head, piston and rings are shot. To get compression to come back you would have to clean the bore with two stroke oil and a lint free cloth, clean the piston ring gaps for crud buildup and clean the rings as it needs to be moving. I have heard of sticky rings stuck to the piston resulting extremely low compression or holding the pull cord letting the chainsaw free falling on it own as signs of dropping too quick is lack of compression. That all I can think of due to my brother asking me 101 questions of why it not working for him
Just run the flywheel nut down until it is flush with the top of the crankshaft and hit the end of the nut with a brass or hard plastic hammer while putting upward pressure on the flywheel. I use small pry bars to to that and the flywheel, after a few raps, will pop loose. They do make flywheel pullers but they are specific to each model of saw. I just do the rap method. With the nut screwed on to protect the threads on the. Rankshaft.
I put parra cord in top of cylinder through the spark plug hole about. 2 foot leave a bit hanging out and it traps piston on the head. After undoing the nut pull cord out easy
Excellent very helpful I have question on Seals my old seals are ones brown the other is blue Why// why are they called soft seals and hard seals and if they are different which one goes where??
THANK YOU FOR THIS video but you change the segments, and the grooves on the cilyndre what do you do? I ALSO SEE BEARINGS open without grease? I AM TR7S SURPRIS are they greased by the oil of the mixture?
atleast it could be fixed for 10$.. a 4stroke will cost alot more when you get into oil seals and pumps and valves and rockers ect 2stroke small engines are the way to go if youre gonna fix them yourself.. if youre paying someone to fix them go 4stroke as 2 strokes typically have an issue yearly where 4 strokes can be quite reliable
That's funny, I have my 026 (MS260) waiting in the line for a top end rebuild and crank seals replacing. I will make a video of it for sure. Stay tuned. :D
i assume the flywheel only goes on the crankshaft one way so theres no timing settings as long as those two parts are bolted together the sparks timed properly?
You really had to get into that thing to replace those. Think they should be made of some special material instead of just any type of plastic or rubber like I have seen on different brands.
Phillip Kramer this is typical of the homeowner series of saws. The pro series has easy access to the top end bolts on top and can easily replace the top half an about 2 hours, if you know what you are doing. The homeowner series engines can be fixed, as proven here, but takes more time to get into everything. If you have the know how, you can take a homeowner model and replace things and they will last a lifetime, if you use them for what they are intended for.
I have a 034 that's going to need seals .flip it to cut a tree runs like hell works all right blocking wood. How long did it take you to do? I know the 034 is way different than that saw but gives me a idea!
Please don’t go through this type of flywheel removal technique. Just put the nut back on the shaft so that it can be hit upon without hitting the threaded end of the shaft. Get a brass drift punch to hit the nut with. Place a wide blade screw driver or similar under the flywheel at a magnet location and against the main body at the top of flywheel. Apply slight leverage and wack the nut using the brass drift with a hammer. It will come off!
For the fuel mix my grandfather uses special Husqvarna oil, those little bottles pre-measured for 5 L of fuel. I used some generic oil while assembling the saw just to make the piston and cylinder more slippery.
You didn't show that you supposed to lube the cylinder wall and you didn't provide how long the gasket sealant supposed to set up before installation of everything else! Plus provide torque specs for screws!

You’ve given me more courage to tackle my ms250, which needs a new piston & cylinder, great info on the visuals especially the sealant at the bottom!

Dan Henderson I just tap the crank with a hammer
Was balanced. Not anymore.
Неплохая бытовая пила , мягкие амортизаторы , приятная работа двигателя . В хозяйстве с 2008 года .
put the nut back on flywheel a few turns and put socket on nut hit with hammer two taps flywheel will pop right off
Exactly what I was about to comment... simple fast and easy
I just tap my hammer in the crank
Hi. Where did you get the sealant from and what is the brand called??? Can you use any sealant which is heat resistant?
Ciao, interessa anche a me questa informazione
I enjoy watching your videos.
Thanks, buddy!
We do repairs on chainsaws & I learned from this video

you should get a flywheel puller and crank case splitter . they make life alot easier
A crankcase puller is not needed in this job.
Магнето снять минуту, на 1/3 откручеваешь гайку , берешь за магнето пальцами , приподнимаешь за магнето пилу и по гайке резко молотком бьешь.

another awesome project Donn!
Thank you, Gee!

How did you stop the crankshaft from turning when you loosened the flywheel nut?

This is a great video. I can see why its gotten over a quarter million views. Good stuff.
I just love my 021
Nice job👍

Yes the oil in gas lubes bearings .if you think about it kinda amazing that they don't burn up
we use a match book cover to set clearence
I've used a good stout business card for the same purpose!
D Steven Paisley i use the Stihl tool
yep, getting two stroke to start and run with bad seals is very hard.
It did start eventually with the choke fully on though. But yeah, the joys of two strokes... :D

This was cool. Have to do the same for my 026 some day! :)

You can bet on it.
How long did the changing of seals take
One evening.
What was the problem Don?The saw won’t start?
Should do a simple vacuum test on the engine before tearing into the saw.
Did you dirco the outside flanges of the seals and grease the insides? I also was surprised to see you didn't use a feeler to gap the coil.
I hope you cleaned out the exhaust port at top dead center
i assume the flywheel only goes on the crankshaft one way so theres no timing settings as long as those two parts are bolted together the sparks timed properly?
Yes, it goes on only one way.
Don't forget to use gaz resistant gasket maker

very good video

Good work! :)
Cheers!
How long you wait usually after aplications of gasket sealer?
24 hours is usually said on the sealer tube. Check what your label on the sealer tube says and act accordingly. ;)
I have a 034 that's going to need seals .flip it to cut a tree runs like hell works all right blocking wood. How long did it take you to do? I know the 034 is way different than that saw but gives me a idea!
It took me a whole day basically. If I had known in the first place it needed new seals it would've taken less time.
Good job nice
Bravo you have replaced the crankshaft oil seals! The ball bearings were good?
Bearings were good.
Very good

What was the red sealant you used.
Some generic engine putty.
@@DonnDIY how long you let sit before installing together?

Awesome.
Runs like a champ! Does gramps get it back lol
My grandfather already got it back. He has a new saw already so it's unclear whether he will use it or not.
Nice! How old is the chainsaw?
Probably around 7 years I think. I remember the time when his previous Husqvarna blew the piston and he bought this one new.
fajny film
you could take those seals apart just by prying them out. no need to tske engine apart. But good job overall
Nice.
👍🏽

Blue chinese seals... why?
My original Stihl seals are blue from the factory
@@richardschofield2201 Original is between violet and blue.
word of wisdom REMOVE THE CHAIN AND BAR FIRST...save your hands..
You are a genious
Next
take the china bearings out while you are at it
no grease in the seal lips installing them? no dirko on the outside of the seals? I SMELL AIR LEAK...
Я понял,что нехера непонял.
Go get parts from the web site called sawzilla they have much better prices and quality parts good luck on your next project

Air filter isn't dirty, it only looks like it's covered with saw dust.
omg u go so wrong
haha funny why u take off engine to change a bearing cap ?? that problem why chainsaw no start ?
Great video. Thanks
