  • Sadly...Hollyand's otherwise fantastic Tally system does not work properly with vMix.
This is a plea to Hollyland to fix it with a firmware update as at the moment it is useless!
When a multisourced layout is composed on an input within Vmix, made up of other inputs, which is then loaded into the preview bus of Vmix, the Hollyland system wrongly indicates that the contributing inputs are to line.
The homebuilt TallyArbiter system does not suffer with this problem.
So far neither Hollyland, or the Australian distributor have been able to acknowledge the problem, let alone a solution. I am available to assist with solving the problem so reach out :-).

My friend developed his own tally light system specifically to work with vMix and it was amongst the earliest feedback I provided as one of his testers, that inputs that composite sources together, didn't always behave as expected.
I agree that this can and should be addressed by the manufacturer, however yet another route would be to submit a feature request to the vMix team to add the ability to define which tally number is "broadcast" via the API, for any given input. This would be helpful if a layered input was predominantly composed of a single input.
    I'd love that!

Thank you. This would have been a big disappointment to find out on my own.

I know this is besides the fact and HL should certainly fix this...I bet you can build a really nice tally system using companion software feedback with different shades of green/red for multilayered/multiview inputs. Maybe broadcast the webviewer buttons whoever needs to see them into another multiview w/ program out...send to cams/DSM, etc...could be cool.
