    Brendon - Caught you on SOT about Box Sets. I thought you and Pete really connected with other. Pete rarely does a show for an hour and a half, but he was having such a good time. The content was impressive. I hope Pete has you on SOT as a regular, because I believe you will bring important content to his channel. I have commented to Pete to bring you on his channel before. Whow!!! Pete finally did it. Great show!! Congratulations on reaching 17k - I'm hoping that SOT viewers like myself subscribe to your channel. Your content and SOT's content are quite different and would enhance each others channel. Please send a big shout out to Anthony at Sound Exchange for me.

    Brendon, thank you for your insight into your life and your passions! By no means did you have any obligation to open up about your personal life but you did and that is to be commended. Your response to the person who asked about finding love, etc was really admirable. I found it helped further connect me, a listener to your channel, with you as the presenter. Good stuff, best of luck and thanks for the awesome, informative videos!

    Hello Brendan… I’ve followed this channel for just under a year. The two things that amaze me is 1.) how you find the time to do all you do on top of holding a full time job. 2.) how you continue to follow and enjoy music from bands that are “past their prime”. For example: The Rolling Stones. I love the Stones, but I don’t believe I’ve ever looked forward to a new record from the band.
    Thank you for the videos!

    Brendon, love your channel. Thanks for taking the time to answer questions about your life, music, etc. There is nothing wrong with not having a relationship because you are afraid to settle. I believe more people should think relationships out before commitment because nine times out of ten they fall apart. If you are happy and fulfilled then more power to you. Last, I think Robin Zander is one of the greatest vocalist of all time.

    Late to the party, but your answer to the last question gave me a music related question.
    When going through a break up, what kind of music do you gravitate to? Is it the same kinds of things everytime or situation dependent? (IE.. your called off engagement, when you are broken up with, or when you break up with someone else?)
    Anyway, great video. Been subbed for nearl 2 years I believe. RUclips hasn't recommended you in a moment, now you are all over my feed again. (It's a good thing!) When I started watching my collection was Maybe 30 cds, I've gotta be nearing 1000 by now. Also as a completionist, I've knocked out bands like Kiss, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Sabbath for example. And now I'm rambling, have a great day!

    Throughly enjoy your channel and have so since during the pandemic. Being a cd guy with almost 11,000 myself, I get your love of music.
    I was a little disappointed that my question was not answered in your video (and I don’t even think you responded in the comments in the other video either). I’m pretty sure I had it in early enough based on when you filmed this. Not rooting my own horn but I felt mine was a pretty interesting based on your collecting methods and love of physical media and the question was unfortunately overlooked.
    My question was regarding my noticing that more and more bands are selling their CDs but they are actually CD-Rs and not silver factory pressed cds. I was wondering as a fellow avid cd collector if you would still buy a cd-r just to have the music in a physical format or if you would shy away from it.
    Thanks again.

      I apologize, as I did not see your question. But keep in mind that I get hundreds of comments daily. I don’t have time to respond to each one even though I wish I could. In regards to your question, if the CD is official from the band I don’t mind if it’s burned. But if it’s like the print on demand that Amazon does I hate it and return it.

    if you go to concerts from fresh new bands in the underground i think you'd find that the concert intensity you mention is still alive and well; it didn't stop existing, but if you continue seeing the same bands as they got older and fans become more nostalgia/brand-based, the shows and crowds are more likely to become less passionate and genuine

    Tenth Q&A session, Brendon, you are the man 👍🏻🙂
    “Architecture is Frozen Music”🙂
    Re vinyl, you need more investments with it: time, money, efforts, equipment (turntables, cartridges, phonostages, cleaning machines etc. etc.) to have the sound comparable with CD esp. with this kind of music ("rock", "heavy") and system / settings. I personally like and try to obtain both, records and CDs. The formats have their obvious advantages. Just with the time going on it is sometimes easier to have a metal album, for example, to listen to with due and good quality on a CD than to do it (find/buy/clean/spin) on vinyl. But the vinyl it has its magic, of course 🙂 My opinion 🙂
    Take care.
    P.S. Anorexic Skeletons did you say? 🙂 That was a great band name 👍🏻😀

    While I love and collect both CD and vinyl records, I cannot foresee a CD revival similar to the recent vinyl revival. The reason is simple: the return to the CD's physical state does not provide much advantage or novelty. With the ability to "download" digital media in a lossless format, one can simply store it on any media (pc, phone, flash drive or original optical disc) and retain the sound quality and library. The sound quality argument aside, there's so much more that comes along with vinyl records, including the owning of a true analog "artifact". I'm personally going to continue with both formats, but I don't see CDs ever returning to their former glory.

    • @jimmycampbell78
      @jimmycampbell78 Год назад

      It’s the same argument for vinyl though. To me the only advantage of vinyl is the full, larger sleeve artwork which people can also frame and display if they want. CDs are a physical artefact that are easier to store, less easy to damage, require less maintenance and cleaning, and at the moment less expensive. If people want physical product then CDs ultimately are the most useful and long lasting. They haven’t quite got that connoisseur of music/retro flavour yet as you say when you refer to the ‘analogue’ experience- but they will. All physical media becomes a novelty with time.

      I’ve actually gone into detail on this topic in other videos and I have a series called What’s That You’re Listening To? I go through all of the albums I’ve been listening to over the previous week and explain how and why I chose to listen to them. Bottom line there are many factors but it’s usually based on current events in music news or listening to things related to a new album that is about to drop. I noticed you like Phillip Phillips music, and in one LGTTRS video, I think that's where you picked up his CD. Kind of surprising to see a die hard rock and metal fan like you get into modern soft adult alt-pop like that. I'm not really a fan of his, however I am kind of interested in hearing the story of how you got to like his songs? As for some of the artists you either dislike or have tried a few times but couldn't get into their music (examples: Dan Fogelberg and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, both who have excellent guitar-driven classic rock songs) do you think you'll ever give them another chance or have a change of opinion about their music at some point in the future? I get that you like what you like, and some artists you may never take a liking to their music. I can appreciate that. But still, I was just curious. You did say that your tastes change, and you said how you used to hate Richard Marx during his heyday, but now actually like his music.
    Loads of respect for your channel and passion for music, Brendon.

      I wish the band would dig into the archives and issue outtakes, alternate versions, demos, or remix some of the albums. That and so a tribute tour for Neil and have some killer drummers join at different stops like Dave Grohl, Mike Portnoy, etc.

    Thank you for your presentation.

      No said it was the be all end all. But yes I do use it for information and most cases it’s accurate. But it’s not my only source.

    Do you like the harder style of rockabilly like the reverend Horton Heat or Brian Setzer (new album out on Friday from Brian)

      I love The Reverend! Seen the band 5 times back in the mid 90’s. 👍

    Interesting you don't like your music loud, which is contrary to the majority of the music you pick up that is generally known to need to be played LOUD!...I chuckled a bit, but we all have to listen to music the way we enjoy it. As far as CDS go I see a combo of both CDs being priced high and some stores getting too many CDs where they don't have the space and dump them in the $1 bin. Thanks

      Yes I’ve got that too. Wish those demos would be released officially by GNR.

    Do you have a Holy Grail you haven’t found yet???😉

    • @BrendonSnyder
      @BrendonSnyder  Год назад +1

      No every holy grail that I’ve wanted I found. There are more out there but not at a price I’m will to spend and not necessarily one I need to have. For example I’d love to own a copy of GNR’s Live Like A Suicide E.P. But since I already own the music it’s not a necessity to own the LP even though I’d love to have it.

    As bad as nu metal and even some post-grunge was during the Y2K era, it still sounded like rock. Now you've got this pesky synth-laden Gen-Z electropop genre passing off as rock in the modern day. Most of it does not sound remotely like rock, and guitars and their solos are obsolete. And when it comes to the pop charts, it's the dominant rock subgenre. There seems to be no real rock music you see on the pop charts. My question is how did this happen? Why is it happening? And what can we do to stop it from spreading? People forget that rock was very much still on the pop charts when disco and new wave were the dominant music genres. If you ask me, electropop is killing all of today's real rock music. Your opinion?
