Okay, it’s been enough time. How long until we receive our indie horror game about a dejected 90’s platformer mascot unleashing havoc upon cyberspace to reclaim relevance?
Dunno if there’s any old video game mascots in the public domain yet, though maybe someone could buy the rights to a really obscure unpopular character.
I'm reminded of a roadside billboard I saw once that just said, in bold letters, "IS HE IN YOU?" My friends and I would occasionally just look at each other and say that ominously for years.
@@zimNvgcatsfan I think it was in a Spelunky 1 stream. Vinny's uncanny ability to get the damsel killed made someone comment that it was ruining their "Vinny the Fireman fantasy". If I recall, Vinny eventually told them they needed to elaborate, and they just said it was pretty self-explanatory.

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced "Ranma One-Half". I read a few volumes of the manga back in the day. It's about a boy martial artist trainee who gets cursed to turn into a girl when splashed with cold water, while hot water changes him back into a boy. You can imagine the typical kinds of wacky hi-jinks it gets into lol. So I bet that character select screen where you choose between "blonde dude and slightly different blonde dude" was originally supposed to be choosing between boy Ranma and girl Ranma.
Ranma 1/2 good anime with a few hundred tv eps, 2 movies, and I think 4 OVAs Rumiko Takahashi, she also did Inuyasha which you may be more familiar with
I remember getting unreasonably good at veediots as a kid. I played that like a professional and could always get to th end. I had like no other games.
I actually beat that game as a kid. It took many playthroughs. I remember that I had to take a certain route in the army level to skip a complicated part.
As bad as Nick Guts is, it's pretty funny that Vinny went back to this game just to get frustrated. Didn't seem like he knew how to land in Slam Dunk or jumping properly off the pole.
I rented The Rocketeer when I was a kid, got past the airfield once, decided that I'd have had enough and begged my dad to take me back to the rental store and get something else. He thought the game was crap too, so we drove back across town and rented Super Ghouls and Ghosts instead. I don't know why they didn't just port the NES game and give it better graphics or something.
As soon as it got to The Rocketeer, the first thing that popped into my head is The Nerd yelling "AAAAAAAAAASSSSS!!" from that moment in the Top Gun NES episode
