Thanks, amazed it worked with a bonus. My G62 would not switch off, had to take the battery out to stop power, and had the blank screen. Gave it a shot. Worked perfectly. Thank-you soo much. But is this solution permanent? If not, then what/where is the actual problem. Once again thnkkk you so much.
This laptop has a GPU chip that is notorious for overheating and has very poor quality soldering done by the manufacturer while installing to the board. It's colling is done via a heat pipe shared with CPU. If for some reason the cooling airflow is blocked, this chip heats up pretty fast and expands cracking the solder joint to the motherboard, resulting in black screen. Permanent solution will be take out the board and remove the chip and replace with a new one using eutectic lead solder balls. What this guy does is overheat the GPU by blocking the cooling system and make it expand or melt to reconnect cracked solder joint.
Is this a fix in case it does start up? I can use the laptop with an external screen just fine, but not with it's own screen. Also if I check with a very bright flashlight I see the lcd screen is working, the backlight just isnt.
@@ComputerTechProfesor turns out I had a different issue bit I fixed it. Cable going to the screen was damaged, no backlight enable and backlight PWM signal going through.
Hello.. Thanks for your efforts in this video.. I saw the comments and more than the most said that it worked.. I just have a simple question.. So you leave the pc untill it overheats and shutsdown alone and we then turn it on after a while.. Or we shut it off and turn it back on? Answering this will help me alot.

The laptop needs to be on. The idea here is that the heat generated by the laptop itself fixes it. The towel just makes sure the heat stays inside the laptop and accumulates.
