What happens when two of the coolest channels on RUclips collide!? Radness! One question though for DJ BBQ - what about those of us who aren't lucky enough to rock a kettle BBQ yet? My BBQ has no lid. Can I still do this beer can badness!?
Very nice chickens you made there. I will try some german pilseners this weekend with my chicken. And maybe you can tell me what watch you are wearing, looks very good.
I like to rub the chicken all over with lemon first and then put the remainder of the lemon with a chunk of butter and Soy sauce. I let the butter melt and use the concoction as a baste every half hour or so... I also season the beer by shoving garlic, spices, lemon and whatnot into the can before it goes up the arse.
Dude my two babes are in and cooking'. No craft beer this time but can't wait till they are done. I'll have 3 boys killing themselves to see who can get them first. Thanks for the great recipe.
Love the show DJ BBQ! quick question ? If I host a braai ( south african for bbq ) in the summer, could I get you around to be the chef ? Thinking lots of traditional safa flavours, boerewors, biltong, peri peri chicken.
DJ BBQ 1) you are the coolest person I have ever met. I love your passion for food. 2) you should come around to Bowling Green, Ohio I'd love to meet you.
And can i also suggest for an added flavor boost put some fresh garlic and chilli in the can of beer. You can experiment with herbs and whatever you want. Even a can of coke with coke and JD works.
i have a question about using beer for grilling: can children eat the chicken or do you get problems with the alcohol from the beer? or will the alcohol burn completly during the grilling?
Nobody gets drunk by eating chicken made this way. And yes alcohol is the first thing to evaporate. So, yes it's safe to let children enjoy these bad boys.
DJ BBQ TBH at some point kids will get into beer, so before others influence their taste buds you might as well get them into really cool craft beers, basically for their own long-term good!!!
DJ BBQ, I have a hard time keeping my grill warm for 30 minutes much less an hour and 30; is it that I'm using commercial brickets like Kingsford? I have a larger grill than the one you are using here. I always use a charcoal chimney to start my fires, should I keep extra coals on standby to feed the fire?
Hi DJ, Radness to the power of Damn! (as usual). Great collaboration video with the craft beer boys, I'd love to see more beer + bbq food matching, but I have a question for you: doesn't the can in some way harm the healthiness of chicken? I mean, heated metal with coloring and so on? I'm not Judging, I'm just curious. You're awesome, all of you!
You've got me all inspired now. Going to whip out my Sir Loin, and a couple of breasts. Going to soak them in a SA Braai style beer marinade and hit them with some smokey heat.
here's a question for you, what about a marinade in beer? could you marinate the bird in beer and then use the jim spice rub? reason being is i'm more of a spatchcocked gal. yup, i so went there brosef.
Marinading in beer works so frickin' well. We did it here with some wings, then glazed them in MORE beer as well as chilli and honey...Sticky smoked-beer chicken wings
hello DJ BBQ I'm more of a gin man - is there anything you would recommend I rub down and stick a (duty free) bottle of Tanqueray up? Also - I see from your name that as well as being a master BBQ chef you are a DJ - what music goes with this dish - some Velvet Underground or Abba? Many thanks for your help, err, bro
Beer can chicken sounds great, although wouldn't you want to avoid baking all that paint into the chicken? A friend of mine pointed this out recently and I'm starting to wonder... Anyway, cheers bro, love your channel.
why do I do this to myself.. my belly is rumbling uncontrollably lol. why does it always rain in Scotland .I can see me putting the bbq in the shed lmao :(
pilsner the simplest of the beers .... well ... no it tastes simple, but brewing a pilsner is the toughest beerstyle you can brew. everyone can do overly hoppy, or sweet or wild fermented and shit, but doing a nice pilsner ? not allot of breweries can pull that off.
DJ BBQ Sorry DJ BBQ - but can you retract that last comment - you said earlier that kids look at these comments, indeed my kids might read this, and I don't want them to find out how effective you find quick rubs
That's a waste of craft beer, it's not really going to taste any different from if you were to use a cheaper middle of the road beer. I still like your channel though, and yes I understand you were using it as an excuse to promote your friends.. just I wanted to point that out.
DJ BBQ Actually, it makes no difference according to the scientific research that was done on this. Cooking the chicken vertically is the key, as you'll get an even cook, much the same way you would if it were butterflied/spatchcocked.
Jim is a genius

You need a cover, Joe. Sorry bro.

That t-shirt is so cool. I'll try to make a chicken this way some day.
Love your approach to cooking DJ BBQ! Just great!
Very nice chickens you made there. I will try some german pilseners this weekend with my chicken. And maybe you can tell me what watch you are wearing, looks very good.
Also you can take any left over rub and dump it into the beer can. for the american viewers, sam adams summer ale works great
DUDE! I want to do this again! You, me, a BBQ and a rooftop. NOW.
thanks for the answers. book is ordered today via amazon! thanks for the great, easy recipes!

Mouthwatering! I will be sprinkling cloves on my next roast chicken!

Also, Jonny is sorry about the Human Centipede reference.
That was ok, I had that thought too!:D
laughed hard on this one !
Technically it was a chicken centipede
Dude my two babes are in and cooking'. No craft beer this time but can't wait till they are done. I'll have 3 boys killing themselves to see who can get them first. Thanks for the great recipe.
Killer cook brother! Simply KILLER!

LOL Awesome! I have that same exact shirt DJ BBQ
And can i also suggest for an added flavor boost put some fresh garlic and chilli in the can of beer. You can experiment with herbs and whatever you want. Even a can of coke with coke and JD works.
All great ideas. I've done this in other videos.

Yep, that's how ya do it. Try using lumpwood charcoal.

I'm still standing
DJ BBQ Got it :)
Andrea Tani aluminium cans are fine at all temperatures basically. Just never re-use them!
The Craft Beer Channel thank you very much to you too
The Craft Beer Channel Why on earth would you reuse a can - even street drinkers don't reuse cans - they get a fresh one
I love how you never fail to express your love of sticking stuff up chicken's butts. Brilliant Hahaha!!!
I would love to try this out with some local craft beers, got any suggestions for rubs? It would be with a Lager, an IPA and a Brown Ale.
Do the clove one we did with the lager! The recipe is in the info box above
You've got me all inspired now. Going to whip out my Sir Loin, and a couple of breasts. Going to soak them in a SA Braai style beer marinade and hit them with some smokey heat.
your the man dj bbq
Thank god I thought you were going to use fosters
How much flavour should get into the meat?
Cause I've tried two types of chooks and they haven't absorbed the flavour
That awesome shirt! Where can I get it?
Love this video!
Edit: Love all your videos! :-)
I bought it at a charity shop in Austin, Texas a couple months back. Cheers for watching and commenting.
DJ, please tell me there's more Portuguese stuff coming!
Don't you worry, Rafael. I've got 12 more videos coming out that were shot in Lagos, Portugal.

Hey dj how hot do you actually keep the grill?
hello DJ BBQ

Hey man, just got your book and it's totally bitchin'! Keep up the awesomazingage.
Cheers from Germany
Hi RobbDizzl. Thanks for the support. It's a BBQ summer. Heck it's always BBQ weather.
This is a bit of a strange one , but could you use a cider (scrumpy) or a carbonated cider? Maybe pear cider?
yeah
DJ BBQ do a video nice van of Thacher's under it... And a rub to go with it, the perfect summer chicken
alexlew1990 hey - we'd say get some bay and mustard involved with the cider and you'll be on to a winner
question at 6:06 why did you stick your hand inside your shirt?
My microphone fell down inside and I was trying to put it back on.
That looks really good. But I think u should try out a apple beer with it next time. Great vid bro.
Is that not technically a cider?
Dj bbq too rad
Beer can chicken sounds great, although wouldn't you want to avoid baking all that paint into the chicken? A friend of mine pointed this out recently and I'm starting to wonder... Anyway, cheers bro, love your channel.
The bird with the cloves on ;)
I would like to see a nice welsh beer be used also.....
Could work nicely with Brains SA Gold or one of their craft beers. Maybe their smoked beer even!
why do I do this to myself.. my belly is rumbling uncontrollably lol. why does it always rain in Scotland .I can see me putting the bbq in the shed lmao :(
thank god they weren't using fosters... i was worried for a minute...
try put the foam of the beer onto the chicken skin while bbqing it the skin is gonna fricking rules
No more tightys? :(
pilsner the simplest of the beers .... well ... no it tastes simple, but brewing a pilsner is the toughest beerstyle you can brew.

Hey DJ, do the chili challenge. :D
I did, I was 5 hours late for work the next day.
for a minute i thought they were going to use that nasty can of fosters.
im feeling hungry
ok, third one was best, probably cause it took a dive in the grill and the beer poured all in it and stuff.... those chicks look HOTT! ;)
3 Chickens 1 grill
milly cyrus? is that you? that chicken tho
Dude, if you rub a chicken, rub under the skin
😁
I hear ya, Peter. But when I'm catering for thousands....I don't have time. Quick rubs work for me.
DJ BBQ Sorry DJ BBQ - but can you retract that last comment - you said earlier that kids look at these comments, indeed my kids might read this, and I don't want them to find out how effective you find quick rubs
Marc Charles Mullen
forgot you were funny
DJ BBQ 4 real dude - totally raaaaaaaad bro, totally!!! Keep on keepin' on - booyaka BOOM!!!
whats wrong with fosters?
What's RIGHT with Foster's...?
I call Fosters cooking lager !!!
jonlong42 Sorry to be pedantic here, but they are actually cooking so would that not therefore be ideal, by your very own reckoning?
Hang on. Won't the beer make the chicken alcoholic?
I"m sure the Chicken can cope.
Well, I'm sober.
And the alcohol will evaporate so there's nothing to worry about
Oh ok. Thanks. I might give these ideas to my father when we have a BBQ at some point.
I was really scared when I first saw the F****** can
Its always hard to hear about beer...come on guys. the real beer is from germany! do it with german beer....pls!like...this is i have no words :D
I love german beer. Some of my favorite beer on the planet.
DJ BBQ Hehe i would totaly hate you if you wouldn't. Nah im kidding man! Love your stuff! Keep up the awesome work!
gleichch We're over the Germany for Oktober Fest. We love German beer!
The Craft Beer Channel Try to find small local breweries. they are normally way way better then the big german brands!
I hate craft beer its to hoppy
That's a waste of craft beer, it's not really going to taste any different from if you were to use a cheaper middle of the road beer. I still like your channel though, and yes I understand you were using it as an excuse to promote your friends.. just I wanted to point that out.
We aren't promoting anything but good eating. When you use a better tasting wine in your cooking, the food tastes better. Same premise here.
You are right really, I was just tired and in a bad mood, sorry that I took it out on your channel.
It's cool. I'm use to it.
DJ BBQ Actually, it makes no difference according to the scientific research that was done on this. Cooking the chicken vertically is the key, as you'll get an even cook, much the same way you would if it were butterflied/spatchcocked.
Michael Andrews
It's just a bit of fun, Michael
Vertical is the way
Most of the craft beers are utter piss though
Fosters? No one drinks Foster's.
