Hello all, This is great song, along with all the others in the same album. Here are some fact about the battle of Thermopyles that you may not know and definitely movies will not tell you. 1) King Leonidas was 60 years old 2) Total Greek forces were 6-7k 3) Pythia (Oracle) told to King Leonidas, that only if the king of Sparta die, Xerxes will be defeated 4) When Spartan's and other Greek fought in land, in sea Athineans fought Xerxe's navy. Known as "Battleship of Artemisia" 5) In last battle 700 Thespieis fought, in the secret passage while the Spartan's fought in front. 6) King Leonidas ordered all the others to retreat, before it was too late. 7) 299 Spartan soldiers and Leonidas died that day. Leonidas ordered one Spartan solider to leave and tell to Sparta that they defeated. 8) All the soldiers including Spartans they wore armor
The immortals died; the spartan hoplites died - but they surpassed the proclaimed immortality of the immortals. In our hearts they live on; the immortals don't.
Well I don't know about you but Immortals live eternal in the hearts of every single person in Iran, I guess if they were represented correctly in the western media others would feel the same.
@@marzbanofmerv2324 You are probably right. I guess it is because they were advertised as being "immortal" or rather "invicible" and then they just fell like any other soldier on the battlefield. So their "enchantment" that made them fearsome and therefore seemingly invincible (and they were fearsome warriors and ahead of their time don't get me wrong here) just evaporated into thin air for western cultures because then they were sure that and how they could be beaten. And of course stories being told of them changed according to that and factored into today's painted image in the media. It's not like we don't respect them for what they once were, it's just that they've lost their charm I guess. It's probably also because back in the day people only knew one thing for sure: the stronger imposes their rules upon you and you have to follow or face the consequences. So the spartans and other greek citiestates acted like a cultural shield for all of europe. And let's be honest here, even today people just don't like change. ;) I like and respect the persian /iranian culture just like any other.
@@lollekompolle I’m not saying your reasoning is wrong, they are less known now probably because they lost, but if I’m not mistaken the main reason they were called immortals is because there were always exactly 10,000 of them
the immortals were called that because they looked exactly the same and made no sound, so you didn't know if the one that stabbed our buddy is stabbing you.
This is incredibly insular point of view, millions remember the immortals just as millions remember the Spartans. We can sit modernly and postulate about the embarrassing loss of Persian life taking the pass but just as easily one can be embarassed for the Spartans for throwing away their own lives and losing the pass, leaving Greece to have to be saved by the Athenians (who are the actual Victors of the Persian wars) this battle remembers both sides favourably depending on which side you choose to do so.
I remember when in high school our history teacher (he was in his 60s) talked about Spartans and their heroism. Thank you :D ! But there is also another reason why we celebrate the day the Italians invaded and not the end of the war or our liberation day. When the war ended here in Greece in October 1944 and we were liberated from the nazis, a series of very unfortunate events occured, known as the "Dekembriana", which led to the outburst of the Greek Civil War (1946-1949). So it is only natural for us to want to celebrate a moment in history when we were all united and fought together for our freedom than one that drove us to hate and schism.
Greece is the Only country to celebrate the Beginning of WW2(at least for us) and not the End. Also after the War,many Italian soldiers actually bought houses in Greece and settled here.Mostly on Corcyra (Corfu),or Rhodes etc. All in all, Greece is Made for War.And we love our Italian brothers even if We have some Small arguments with Them.

Among Xerxes' entourage was a former king of Sparta, called Demaratos (exiled from Sparta for reasons I don't recall right now). When the Persian generals noticed how few Spartans had come up to face them, they asked him "why". He told them that it was a combination of the Carneia (a religious festival in Sparta when war was prohibited) and the Olympic Games, a time of cease-fire, so to speak, for all of Greece to honor Zeus in the Games. When asked what the prize was for the winner of the Games, he simply replied "honor and an olive branch!". The generals then asked him if he lead them into a trap, asking "Why did you lead us here, to fight against men who compete against each other not for riches, not for land or office but for MERE HONOR?!?!?!"
"Just because you have more men, doesn't automatically mean you win. It's your physical strength, spiritual strength, and reason to fight that matters." -Me
"Even In the face of overwhelming forces, victory is achievable. For the true winners of war are those with the physical and mental fortitude to fight for a just cause with a will of fire and an iron fist." -Your quote (upgraded by a dude with way to much time on his hands)
"Numbers won't secure your victory automatically, it's your morale, your strength, your position on the battlefield and a good reason to inflict pain upon your enemy that gets you the victory" -your quote again but reworded again lmao
God fights on the side of the winning artillery - Napoleon Bonapart The day shall be won by those whose purpose to fight is greater than that of there opponents -Sun Tzu War is hell, life is Purgatory, we must face both in times of hardship -Benjamin Franklin Bleak times are upon us, hardships will follow; But push through and survive this day, and our story will revel in the winds of Sparta - Me "on deployment in Syria"
"Hellenic hearts are set aflame, the hot gates calls their name" Thermopylae, the place where this battle was fought, was called "The Hot gates" by the ancient Greek because they thought it was an entrance to the underworld... that line is low key genius
Big misconseption about the battle is that it was just 300 men against the Persian army, but it was actually 7k Greeks against 100k Persians. The last stand of Leonidas and his 300 men was done later in the battle to let rest of the greeks escape
I listened to the song on the rowing machine in the gym. As I listened I imagined what the Spartans felt during this battle and it was like I was THERE and I knew that the only thing to do was to fight and to embrace it. So I started rowing super hard and by the end of the song I was absolutely exhausted. I hate rowing but this time I enjoyed it so much because the strength of these warriors came through this song and gave me strength. I listen to this every time I workout now and I go from feeling defeated and bored to loving it and feeling like I can lift the whole world. It helps me to embrace the pain but I do still realize that it isn’t even a fraction of what these brave men faced at Thermopylae
SPARTA! So much pride envelopes Sabaton songs. Especially with To Hell and Back, Attack of the Dead Men, Winged Hussars (I’m actually polish) and The Lost Battalion. I so badly want to see Sabaton live.
"sparta will never surrender" cause they are a diffrent breed really! they thrown kids off cliff when they were mentaly ill and etc they were made for war
There is no reason, in any case you should not feel bad for the past. The bravery of men is commemorated, whatever the side Germans, Greeks, Swiss, Americans etc
Going to see Sabaton tomorrow in Albany NY. Hopefully this will be on their set list. Cant wait to experience them LIVE. Its gonna be my sons first concert, it was his idea to get tickets....Done & tomorrows the day!!! 🤘🤘🤘

Before my final exams and thesis defense at university i got nervous like never before. I couldnt sit down and started shaking. So to calm myself I started listening to this on repeat. It motivated me so much that i almost took spear for my presentation. It was best presentation i ever had without single stutter(something i have problem even in basic conversation). So thank you for saving my degree. You guys are amazing.

Interesting story When Jewish revolt happened against the Greek The Spartan sided with The Hasmonians(Maccabees) not Selucids,in fact Spartans continued to be the biggest supporters for much longer then just during the revolt, here btw the supposed qoute to the king of Sparta "Onias, Areus King of the Spartans, greeting. In a work concerning the Spartans and the Jews there is a statement that they are brothers and that they are descended from Abraham. Now that we have learned this, please be so good as to write us how you are. We are ready to write in reply to you, 'Your cattle and property are ours, and ours are yours.' We have ordered that you be given a full report on these matters." Love to Sparta and Peloponnese from Israel, all Israeli kids learn about you in school and give respect to your history.

"Numbers won't secure your victory automatically, it's your morale, your strength, your position on the battlefield and a good reason to inflict pain upon your enemy that gets you the victory"

Smart man
"Hellenic hearts are set aflame, the hot gates calls their name" Thermopylae, the place where this battle was fought, was called "The Hot gates" by the ancient Greek because they thought it was an entrance to the underworld... that line is low key genius
Big misconseption about the battle is that it was just 300 men against the Persian army, but it was actually 7k Greeks against 100k Persians. The last stand of Leonidas and his 300 men was done later in the battle to let rest of the greeks escape
Spartans from Greece,Japanese Samurais,Winged Hussars from Poland...I think best soldiers who existed in this world❗️🌎💪👊
Thank you :)
Vikings and Knights too bro! I'm a spartan btw :p not like them of course but a real one from the real sparta xD
I hate emojis
And papal guards
and Every Scottish Warrior, after all Scotland was the only place to defeat the Roman Empire while it was still great
Thanks to my 8th grade social studies teacher for introducing me to Sabaton! I’m still listening to it six years later!
That's an awesome teacher you had 😎
Wish my teacher was like that 😭
It’s funny cuz I introduced my old history teacher to Sabaton

Or Turkish😂?
Does anyone else feel this sudden urge to scream "SPARTA, HELLAS THEN AND AGAIN SING OF 300 MEN!" in the middle of a big test?
I'm Greek from Peloponnese ( the region Sparta is at ) this song make me feel super patriotic
Comment of the day! Thanks for sharing that 🤘🤘
Thank you for the Lyrics Video Sabaton
Greeks getting invaded by The Ottomans: I sleep
Greeks getting invaded by Italy: *Violent Spartan yelling*
My history class was talking about Spartans and Persians today, and all I could think about was this song.
You should've blasted the song.
And then the winged hussar arise
Same here lol
Fun fact
The traitors at the Greek parliament are also 300
Everything must be balanced

Any information you can give about new album? :(

SPARTA! So much pride envelopes Sabaton songs. Especially with To Hell and Back, Attack of the Dead Men, Winged Hussars (I’m actually polish) and The Lost Battalion.
I so badly want to see Sabaton live.
I am Greek. I am very proud for you Sabaton! I also learned swedish for you!!du är perfekt!!! 😁
Spartans : persians are strong very strong
Alexander the great : hold my sword
FOR SPARTA
"sparta will never surrender" cause they are a diffrent breed really! they thrown kids off cliff when they were mentaly ill and etc they were made for war
When you take two scoops of pre workout only to show up and find the gym closed.
It’s so weird listening to this as a Persian lol
There is no reason, in any case you should not feel bad for the past. The bravery of men is commemorated, whatever the side
Germans, Greeks, Swiss, Americans etc
Honestly the Persians were the ones with most bravery, they fucked with Sparta and Greece
sorry bro gotta stop you with my spear.
Be gone Persian
back then persians were based and worshipped the old gods
Sabaton: Spartans will never surrender.
Spartans at Sphacteria: (awkward silence).
Well, to be fair the Athenians were threatening to kill the POWs' if they didn't surrender...
Going to see Sabaton tomorrow in Albany NY. Hopefully this will be on their set list. Cant wait to experience them LIVE. Its gonna be my sons first concert, it was his idea to get tickets....Done & tomorrows the day!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Almost there 😉 We hope you guys enjoy the set!
I see Sabaton is on an uploading spree of their music. Feelsgoodman
give a spartan modern tech and a mech suit and you got yourselves a war god.
That's just Aries himself at that point
I'm not crying, my eyes are just sweaty
I imagine the "ooh" "aah" as spartans and persians poking at each other
The strongest rebel in history vs the God of Fate
Ay 👈😎👈
That honestly sounds like some anime levels of bullshittery. Or kratos levels of BADASSERY TO REJECT FATE!
SPARTAAAA HELLAS!!!!!
This song is like one of the best Sabaton songs!!!🎸🤘❤
you guys should do a song about jack churchill, the british soldier who went into ww2 with a broadsword, a longbow, and bagpipes
And wore his Kilt like a real man, also quoted as saying WW2 could have gone on for 4 or 5 more years if America didn't drop those bombs................lol
Sabaton needs to make a song about our people, the spaniards 🇪🇸💪. Glory to Sabaton.
that would be unexpected like the spanish inquisition

The amount of Persians these guys took out is insane
Best KDRs of their time
Before my final exams and thesis defense at university i got nervous like never before. I couldnt sit down and started shaking. So to calm myself I started listening to this on repeat. It motivated me so much that i almost took spear for my presentation. It was best presentation i ever had without single stutter(something i have problem even in basic conversation). So thank you for saving my degree. You guys are amazing.

Just finished Halo: Reach... again... and this track was playing during Noble 4's death, and then during my own last stand as Noble Six. Too bad the Winged Hussars didn't arrive...
You know, never in my life have I subscribed to a youtube channel.
But no matter what sabaton song I listen to, I put it on my list to buy.
I am subscribing, and I probably will never subscribe to any other channel in my life.
Now this puts a smile on my face..

The one dislike is the one Persian warrior they failed to skewer.
Impossible. There wasn’t one that they failed to skewer.
“Hand over Greece”
A thousand or so Greek men, 300 Spartans and Leonidas: “you hear this guy?” *laugh track sfx*
In a work concerning the Spartans and the Jews
there is a statement that they are brothers and
that they are descended from Abraham.
Now that we have learned this, please be so good
as to write us how you are.
We are ready to write in reply to you, 'Your cattle
and property are ours, and ours are yours.' We
have ordered that you be given a full report on
these matters."

Me: THIS! IS! SPARTA!

This is my favourite song! I love the spartans i even made a spartan club in my school! Now it has been a year that i am the biggest fan of Leonidas.😍
This song always makes me feel powerful and feel like a spartan.
