First the only reason the north fought the south is because of money, not because they cared about the slaves. The south was profiting off of slave labor and the north was not going to allow it. Wars and politics will always be about money. War is never about helping anyone
We know this! We aren't stupid, if Lincoln didn't have to free the slaves he wouldn't have. But he did and it was the right thing to do. So 20% of people voting for Trump is showing of the racism that still exists.

Lols in all actuality, Lincoln 'freed' slaves in the confederacy which had already succeeded and considered itself its own independent nation. Therefore they didn't listen to Lincoln and slaves weren't freed then but until after the war when the 13th amendment was passed by Congress.

Being uneducated doesn't necessarily make you unintelligent, but the fact that Trump espouses the idea of having uneducated supporters means he probably doesn't want his target demographic to be too bright. Since social media has become so profound in our culture, it's safe to assume almost everyone in America has access to it now. I think what we're seeing is pockets of people that DO still believe in the old ways of how we used to live, and they are supporting politicians that are mad with how things are going. So, it makes sense in my mind why we are seeing these types of things going on. I think in the future we will probably see more of this unfortunately just because it never really died out. It's still very much alive in America. I hope one day we can all learn to respect one another, whether we have different views or not, because fighting among ourselves isn't going to get us anywhere except in more trouble. Just my opinion.

As an african-american... I believe one should know things of one side before jumping to the other, or like many, completely withdraw from both sides completely. The topic Freeing of Slaves and Republicans, should include Democratic party and the complete disagreement of the freeing of slaves act, "Emancipation Proclamation". The Emancipation Proclamation only freed slaves in states that were in rebellion. Slave states that were not in rebellion (seceded from the union) got to keep their slaves. That's why West Virginia was created.
