SS LAKE ILLAWARRA - 2019 - DIVE 1

Dive 1 on the SS Lake Illawarra resting next to the Tasman Bridge, Hobart, Tasmania.
This video is just an insight into a ship so many know about, but most will never see.
Due to the swim lengths, depths and navigation, gas planning is paramount as due to it's location, a vertical ascent is not possible.
This dive is unpredictable, visibility and daylight penetration is unknown until underwater. It can be rewarding and frustrating and can be very challenging at the same time!
River silt is everywhere and visibility can be dramatically affected in an instant.
Resident 7 gill sharks are often seen in this location however not on this dive.
