Ive been rewatching old event vlogs whilst waiting for the season to start again, and I can't stop laughing at Peter being your nutritionist in these early days. how far we've come.
It doesn’t always go to plan- every time you retire for the benefit for your horse not only do you become a better person you also become a more respectful equestrian! Thank you for setting such a great example for people, love you meg ❤️❤️
Meg I have so much respect for you. You made the correct decision to retire Jammy. You could see that Jam wasn’t her normal confident self and why frighten her to get around a cross country course. As they say tomorrow is another day where she will come out better than ever!! Your Horses are precious and you have put them 1st and foremost.
I wouldn’t worry Meg, I know someone there on a full up event horse that’s a lot more experienced than Jammy and she retired showjumping after nearly coming off twice. Jammy was awesome really 💖
Oh Meg, you both came home safely, and that’s the important thing. And your nutritionist learnt how to hold a camera……. How we all wished he filmed you in front of something reflective so we could see “him” …. 🤣
Thank you for always showing the highs and the lows. This is life with horses. My trainer says some days you get the chicken and some days you get the feathers. lol. This was a feathers day for you, but you have so much to look forward to and you know what you need to work on with sweet Jammy. Keep pushing on and we will be here cheering for you the whole way!
Meg, you’re not rubbish. You respect your horses and do what is best for them, you take their opinions into account. That makes you a better rider than one who would run XC anyway and have a proper issue. It takes someone strong to do that. That makes you a better rider IMO. It shows you’re a respectful and responsible rider and owner doing that because you knew it would result in a bigger confidence knock or an injury. Putting your horse first makes you a better rider than one who goes XC anyway. You’ll get there, but you are doing the best for both of you retiring. Well done
Safe, healthy pony and rider will always be the most important thing. Jammy has matured and come so far this season, she will be back out there feeling confident again soon!
No worries Meg, we all will be here for the next video. Stuff happens in all sports sometimes its your day and sometimes it's not. both horse and rider have their days its a team sport. Think you are harder on yourself but that's a mark you want to do better and that's what all sports is about
Meggy! You are incredible! These things also happen to Michael Jung and Sonja Johnson just to name a couple. Stop being so hard on yourself. You qualified for Badminton!!
Ahh one of those days! XC did look incredibly humongous I’d have definitely questioned going into it with a green feeling pony on non favourable ground. Dressage looked lovely and what a pretty serpentine!
Ah Meg, it can be such a tough call and has to happen within what is basically a split second. AND ONLY YOU KNOW HOW YOUR HORSE IS FEELING. And we know you always do what is best for your horse, which is one of the many reasons you're so admired. Partnership with you Mom can have both ups and downs and then you silly sausage you go and throw yourself open to the wide world on RUclips. In all sincerity, I'm amazed that you can make yourself get out of bed on some days -- it can all be so bloody daunting. As everyone else has had said, you and Jam have lived to ride another day; so try not to sweat it; though I know I could not do any of this. You are a superstar equestrian, girl :)
Off days happen, you always try your best to give the ponies the most positive experience, even when things don’t go as planned 💙 Jammy will come out that much stronger next time.
As we know horses are not machines and somedays things are just not quite right. So 100%with you for withdrawing for Jammies sake. Better luck next time xxx
Things don’t always go how you want, you and jam looked amazing, and did so well, I think pulling her out and taking a minute to have “zen” time was a good idea 👍 Also I love your videos and have been watching you forever! 😁👏
I would like to let you know that I am watching this vlog from a tent in a field and even though it didn’t go to plan always love watching your content!
Do you know what I love about you Meg. Is the fact you won't put your horse or yourself in danger or threaten Jammys confidence. You take so much care of your horses and that's your top priority. I love how even though you didn't complete what you set out to do, you still uploaded your video to show everyone that it doesn't always go to plan. But you put the welfare of your ponies first. And that I why I always return to your Chan Chan. 😘
Always better Meg, to save your horse from injury. Especially since you felt her slip. At the faster speeds of Cross Country, you are risking an injury. Better to save her, and do something closer to home that isn't affiliated. Just to give her 1. The experience, and 2. The confidence. Do some arena hires with a couple other horses maybe, just for experience. And maybe try putting tendon boots on her to help prevent injuries as well as hell boots. Sometimes that helps both you and your horse with confidence. Best Regards and Stay Safe Everyone!! From Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖💖🇨🇦
You made the right decision, if Jam was off form it could have been dangerous for both of you. We all have days like that in any sport and, in spite of the grief you may have had from hobbit you put the horse first and you should be proud of yourself for that, it isn't always about winning.
1,000th like!!!! Yeah boiiii xD am I the only person who finds it oddly satisfying when I round someone's video likes to the nearest 10? Just me? Okay lol Thank you for the 25% discount code for MD! Been wanting to try their items for so long! I think it's amazing that they cater for riders of all shapes and sizes and I'm excited to see how they fit a curvy figure! Interesting that you had your nutritionalist with you, will you be doing a vlog about this? I would be SO interested in that!! I think you're amazing for listening to your pony and not pushing her too hard. The work produced really wasn't too bad at all and on another day I'm sure you'll totally smash it!!
I loved the hobbit dressage commentary! yes, i agree more plain dressage compared to jump practice. Hard when you have fun jumps to play with but dressage helps to set the placings and makes everything better.
It doesn’t always go right but there is always next time and I’m glad you both made it home safely and glad your “nutritionist” knows how to work a camera 😉 good luck next time event 🥰❤️❤️ Edit-If retiring is better for your pony then it is the right thing to do and it shows you respect your pony and what jammy needed
No apologies needed!! You are both safe! The banter with your mum is really funny... the twinkle in her eye when she agreed you are the worst daughter! 🤣🤗😍
Yr ok Meg 👍👍👍 All good 😊 😊😊 Tmw will be a better day for you It didn’t feel right for you today As you said jam was green and spooky Life’s a learning curve Better days to come Back on the horse 🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎
Your amazing you don’t need to proof anything and it’s just one of those days, no hate guys to Meg, she’s amazing and all days can’t got to plan can they ?
What can one say? But, you're both safe and sound. Your reasoning, felt green, she didn't focus, maybe a bit insecure , all the reasons for your, in my view, wise decision. Re- grouping with her and giving her a pat was beautiful and then finishing the round was graceful. Stay safe. 💙🐎😎
Sneaky reveal of your “nutritionist” at 30 seconds? 🤣 Love Jammy, no sense having her lose her confidence! She’s got plenty of time to prepare for her Badders debut the right way!
Yes this is me!! I spotted them the first time at 31-32 seconds but didn’t think anything about it until she was suspicious on the road and I went back to creep 😂
Maybe Jam is just a bit tired after her busy few weeks but considering she has been busy I think you did great and just keep thinking it is all schooling in preparation for badminton next year
I didnt get to go cross country in my last event either but that was not cuz if a very wise decision like this, rather that my 21 year old mare thought it was no fun after fence 2 in the showjumping so she stopped 3 times looking pissed so I was eliminated. We had a sub 30 dressage score and where in second place :') weekend before we came in third place so truly the way of eventing xD
So weird as I took a pony showing this weekend who I had to pull from my actual class when she went okay in a previous class with a lead rein… so annoying but hey, educational outing as Hobbit says?? Next time will be better 😊
OK totally unrelated to the video (side note I love your jods they're stunning!!) Can you do a video on bridles worth the money? I'm looking for my boys first nice bridle, he won't be backed for 2 years, but I want something in a tan colour but I don't even know what brands to look at!!!
Thanks for sharing meg I know it's not easy but to see that everyone makes mistakes is nice sometimes as social media can hide reality❤️you are still fab and jammy I'm sure will get back to it
Right so, I’m gonna put this out there - really want to know if anything happens to me 😱 - can I leave my horse to you? Not even joking. You have my mindset completely when it comes to training and how you make decisions based on the best thing for your ponies and how much you love them. I bred my mare and have backed and produced her myself. She is amazing, you would love her! 😄 God forbid anything should happen to me but if it does, I’m leaving her to you…just so you know! 😂🤣😂
Watching you sew in the golf ball plaits made me think that's why huntseat riders here in America went, eff it, can't be bothered to do the fiddly bit anymore. Lets just fold these in half and leave it.
@@NoThankUBeQuiet haha I agree with you. These look neater, and they're actually the correct ones to use for a hunter anyway. The original point of braids was to keep stuff from getting tangled in the mane while out in the field, hunting. I've never done a maneful of hunter braids myself but I have seen some really ugly jobs. Respect to professional braiders working on the A circuit though. Sewing in those braids takes so damn long, they're making good money.

I agree. We all love horses and everything should be done for the benefit and health of the horse.
@@DS-ky9dl yea exactly!! I love meg so much, she really cares for all her horses and she’s SUCH a great rider too!!
Exactly this 100% 🤍

The extra closer shots e.g. the plaiting, girthing up etc, was a great addition
We will come back for the next vlog! Jam did look unusually spooky , and that Xcountry course was huge! Never mind Meg, Cest le vie!

Earlyyyyy!!! Love your videos Meg ❤️
Could you show a training vlog about cross country conditioning training. Use a go pro or a phone chest harness.
your nutritionist takes good footage!
I'm sorry, but i cannot get over your plaiting skills!

Whose that guys at 30 seconds?? Sorry the event didn’t go to plan but at least you both got home safe ❤️
What is the name of the back pad that is put on before and the end of the event?

Woohoo 2nd I love ur vids 💕
Awee . Your the bets rider
What are all the whistles for on the cross country course mean?
It's to tell the people walking the course that there's a horse coming and they need to move out of the way.
Can you say the name of that place again plz?😂 I don’t understand welsh
