Well this is a brilliant song and any other year it should have, and probably would have, won, but are you serious that you don't remember the winner Conchita with Rise Like A Phoenix? I think Eurovision were intent on making a statement that year and a very important one too, as Conchita was fabulous and very important in many ways but this was, in truth, even better.

Our dog was suffering from multiple diseases and we knew it was time to put her down. She couldn't stand, breathe and drink anymore. It was raining sheets while we were on our drive way to the veterinarian and suddently this song started to play in the radio.. we hugged and kissed her and she gave every single one of us a last deep look letting us know that it was alright. After she peacefully passed away in our arms it suddenly stopped raining and the sky turned blue again while the sun gleamed through the clouds. Although you're gone your spirit will always remain here with us. Thank you for 16 beautiful years Daisy ♥ We love you!

Whilst i respect your point, i think austria needed to win. That song was still a strong song, regardless of appearance. I also believe this was a stronger song. But when it comes to pop image is very important. I think having idols like the austria winner is really important in this day and age because it gives her the chance to be respected and that should hopefully result in a larger step forward for people in general being who they want to be. The image is far less shallow than it may seem.

One of the very best songs of the last decade in the festival. I remember how terribly underrated was when it was revealed just because it wasn't the typical eurovision song, but at the end it became a classic. I loved it from the 1s time I listen to it and I still love it, is nice to have a country like netherland sending real music every year to the ESC.

2014 will be remembered as the year the Netherlands was audaciously robbed of its rightful Eurovision win. I'm not even Dutch, I'm from Poland, but I feel a need to say this: This song was a shining pearl in the midst of cheap Euro-kitsch.

One of the very best songs of the last decade in the festival. I remember how terribly underrated was when it was revealed just because it wasn't the typical eurovision song, but at the end it became a classic. I loved it from the 1s time I listen to it and I still love it, is nice to have a country like netherland sending real music every year to the ESC.
