Hendrix could play this with one arm. You simply cannot compare this with the original. As much as I like this and Eric Johnson is a great guitarist, the version is one of personal choice. I was hypnotized by this instantly. Different strokes for different folks, though. Once I showed this to Bill Nelson, a great guitarist , my favorite musician, and a snob about some things. He was underwhelmed, saying Eric seemed uninspired, and was overall very unimpressed by the performance. I thought to myself "what the f world are you living in, man , this is beautiful!?". I've been listening to this regularly for over 20 years and it never gets old. Timeless, like Jimi himself.

This is the best single piece of Hendrix music ever covered, I'll say it again. No SRV, Gales, JB, Hansen interpretation can touch the levels of details this piece encompass. List your songs so I can explain to what we call "shiet ears" why you are wrong. You do not play or understand the guitar on a level to understand perfection when you see it. • @Amysmann

The perfect musical memory. Eric actually played this song note for note with what Jimi has on vinyl. They used tape to create the 'special effects' on the original release. Jimi, had he stayed here, could have figured this out in time. He was seemingly in musical psychedelic overdrive, although when I listen to him on film talking, now 56 (since me being ten years old) years gone by, he doesn't sound stoned on anything I've heard thus far. Jimi came into my head in 1967 and has never left. I'm here listening to an astonishing rendering of Jimi's studio creation fifty plus years gone by and am amazed. I listened to this entire presentation and do not hear a missed note or memory error on Eric's part. I know that some parts don't sound exactly the same as the studio creation, however Eric is aware as well. It is apparent on his face. "Peace Love and Happiness" Jimi Hendrix 1967

    Are You Experienced
    Jimi Hendrix
If you can just get your mind together
Then come on across to me
We'll hold hands an' then we'll watch the sun rise from the bottom of the sea
    But first
    Are you experienced?
    Have you ever been experienced?
    Well, I have
    I know, I know
    You'll probably scream n' cry
That your little world won't let you go
But who in your measly little world are trying to prove that
You're made out of gold and -a can't be sold
    So-er, are you experienced?
    Have you ever been experienced?
    Well, I have
Ah, let me prove it to you
Trumpets and violins, I can hear in the distance
I think they're calling our names
Maybe now you can't hear them, but you will
If you just take hold of my hand
    Ah! But are you experienced?
    Have you ever been experienced?
    Not necessarily stoned, but beautiful...

Why does EVERY Cover Artist who plays Jimi, thinks that there is or was something Mystical about it....Well, I'm here to tell You, the Magic is in the Fingering and how you touch the Guitar Strings, Your way....Even with a taste of the Other Artist your covering...Amen.

You know you’re an absolute artist-technician when you mess with the amps while you’re playing

One of the best covers ever. Anyone really believe EJ cannot setup a heavy distorted/pedalled out sound to overtake Hendrix? This would be a huge disrespect. But look at all he has done in this cover=magical. The question all should ask is how Hendrix or SRV will do when covering EJ's "Zap" from this same concert....
