36 years under fsm nothing is done let me tell you you vote yes and you will one day have foodstamp in chuuk, look @ marshall island they are independent yet treated like fsmers in the us or anywhere in us soil.
You have no idea what you're talking about. You sound so stupid. Food stamps? that's all you're concerned about?! Food stamp benefits come from the U.S.
Moolll,
I am amazed at all of the comments that people said and questions which wasn't part of the hearing But the truth is we need to get our facts straight and understanding of wat is important in this matter. Chuukese citizens need to understand how important this move is and be knowledgeable of what is really going on. We need more information and strategy plans to understand what is really going on.
This people wants to independent , they're all fucking stupid , they don't understand the facts of being independent , they trying to fucking with the Chinese ..
1:51:30 Aunty Achun made a great point.
I feel ya bro ;) lol
Ewin ai kapwong ngeni chon fiti ei mwich me ngeni fitemon chochon wesetan aramasei ngang mei kuner non ei video. The meeting here in 503-Portland, Oregon has just wrapped up on Saturday the 29th of November. The overall feeling at the end of our meeting was much the same as it is here. My opinion is that our members of the commission and politicians seem to "skirt" around the issues and never really provide any straightforward answers to the pertinent questions at hand. Please pay close attention to the comments made by the REMERICA in the back row e fos non English. He made an extremely relevant point that ALL Chuukese people must be made aware of! There is NO guarantee that the US will provide any ANINIS, UNRESTRICTED TRAVEL OR STAY IN NEGOTIATIONS with this new "REPUBLIC of Chuuk"....
In essence, these men seem to be literally "blowing smoke up our asses" by saying that the US will or the US must! I have news for all of you.... The US doesn't have to do SHIT! Nupwen epwe ne mwuch iwe a mwuch (severing ties) with the FSM, we sever ties with the US as well. The amended COMPACT was written and agreed to by the US and FSM....not Chuuk!
Will becoming an independent country before 2023 make the aforementioned null and void? We must also remember that trust fund is also included in the compact.
I am proud and impressed with the way my Chuukese countrymen and women question the sincerity of this move forward. It is time we held our government accountable and responsible for their actions. Whatever decision you make come March 2015, make sure that it is an informed and educated decision based on facts and relevance. OUR future is at stake! Kinisou pwan kapwong sefan ngeni kemi chon eãni sokkukun ei anapanap an nouch chon emweni fenuwach CHUUK...! Kapwong seni Re-Nepwüün. E pwan Pinüküü.!
As former President John F. Kennedy stated, United we stand, divided we fall. Secondly, How we gonna become independent but we're not built, economic ly, socially, and politicaly?😊
Sad sad sad!!! we are truly leaning towards Communism.
Naneumwes pwe aramas ...tirow chuuk!

It is traditionally Chuukese to "skirt the issues" in order not to offend anybody...so this is OK by me. i cannot address all the issues because I cannot say I have a complete knowledge of them. Having lived in every state of the FSM over 50 years and knowing Micronesians about as well as anybody, I feel the polite Chuukese have been mistreated and insulted by other Micronesians....kind of the most populous group dominated by the less populous,,,"the tail wagging the dog". Knowing the Americans very well, separation from the FSM will have very little financial effect....it mostly relates to the mis-treatment of the Chuukese- even insulting of the Chuukese- by others in the federation, so the motives for separation are mostly cultural. I am of the opinion that the Chuukese have had enough and should immediately separate from the FSM. My main concern is that Chuukese culture is "pure" and less affected by adverse outside influences than elsewhere in the FSM. We would all like to be rich, but the Chuukese seem more willing to go it alone- rich or poor! Good luck to them! I feel their culture might be a good model for other countries to follow so they should NOT continue to allow themselves to be pushed around by others- why should the superior culture yield to the inferior? This video is so biased. They only present the Pros and totally forget the Cons. The leaders must teach people of the good and the bad, especially for this.
Esap an chuuk na ekiek, pun ami o chonomwas, vote no me ikei!
I disagree with the separation, why is that now they brought it up, what about years ago and why saying or blaming other states or islands from the F.s.m., money is evil, just stick to the honest point. No more comment.
the first speaker said the constitution was written in 1975 and that's what we using now and most was written by the palau leaders but then they went republic later or independent hhmmm not so true
The FSM Constitution was ratified in 1978, with the voters of the Pohnpei, Kusaie, chuuk,
and Yap Districts approving the Constitution.
In 1990, a Second Constitutional Convention was convened in Palikir, Pohnpei that
resulted in four Constitutional Convention proposals that were ratified by the voters. These
constitutional amendments are listed below and have been incorporated into the version of the
Constitution available here.
In 2001, a Third FSM Constitutional Convention was convened in Palikir, Pohnpei.
Fourteen proposals passed the Constitutional Convention, but none were approved by the
citizens of the FSM in a referendum. To view the fourteen proposals, committee
reports, analysis, journal discussions, and other reference material dealing with the Third FSM
Constitutional Convention, visit the web site of the Public Information Office of the Office
of the President, and see copies of the fourteen proposals from the PIO web site below. For
additional reference, see an article on the FSM Constitution and the 2001 Constitutional
Convention by Regent Professor of the College of Micronesia-FSM, President of the Third
FSM Constitutional Convention, and former President of the Federated States of Micronesia,
the Honorable John H. Haglelgam.
CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT BULLETIN: The three constitutional amendments
proposed by the FSM Congress and voted upon in the March, 2005 national elections for
FSM Congress two year seats were not approved by the electorate. The proposed
constitutional amendments in Acrobat "pdf" format can be viewed by clicking the following
links:
(1) A constitutional amendment dealing with FSM citizenship, proposing an amendment
to Art. III, Sec. 3 of the Constitution .
(2) A constitutional amendment adding a new Sec. 8 to Art. XIII of the Constitution to
add a full faith and credit clause to the Constitution.
(3) A constitutional amendment affecting the FSM Supreme Court's jurisdiction in
cases in which the ownership of land and water is at issue in Art. XI, Sec. 6 .
