wooohooo! video no 2! lets go! loving these and thanks for the mention, definitely good move not getting rid of the floor, it was a LOT of hardwork and still feel like we are recovering from that crazy project! xxx
Haha so funny ! I've been watching your whole conversion from the start and just stumbled upon Josie's videos a few days ago ! Didn't know you guys were in touch. Small World ! Really happy about Josie's take on it, I'm a solo female with little experience as well and I've been enjoying seeing someone do the same weird shit as me (the attempt to remove carpet with a hammer lol) I've got a Mercedes 410D that I bought last year. It used to be a dutch minibus with lots of seats and rails like the Vario. Gotta say, when I saw you guys having to take the floor out, with the rails built directly on top of the chassis I honestly freaked out, went straight to check if I had an actual floor underneath my rails... Thank god I do ! Still had to spend a whole week rustbusting non stop inside the wheel arches but definitely not taking the floor apart : you guys are rock stars for doing it (btw the bathroom doors and the bathroom as a whole looks AMAZING !) @Bus Off and @Wandering Home : If you're ever travelling in the south of France or in Brittany gimme a shout ;)
@@zeliarobin9627 Zélia, so glad you've found Josie, shes a real inspiration in the solo build space. We've met once and I love following along with her too. So glad neither of you had to take your floor out as I honestly wouldn't wish that on anyone! It was a hard graft. We are still rust-busting now, working on our back doors, but wouldn't trade it for the world as we love the Vario and sadly that is just a part of them! How is your conversion going, where are you at now? We will definitely let you know where we are headed in the future, Europe is a while off for us yet but we are 100% coming when we can! All our love, Charlie xx
@@WanderingHome Yeah I saw Josh's handy work on the back doors, man! Definitely agree with the whole "starting off with one small easy job and ending up with an enormous amount of work"... I'm nowhere near the actual conversion part of the build. I decided to work on everything mechanical and bodywork first, and start building the inside once I've got a clean base. It's older than a vario so it seemed like the better way to go. The van is in the south and I'm in Brittany so that doesn't help, doing it little by little when I have chunks of time where I can head south (but the van is in my mom's little country paradise, so that's good). I've found an awesome mechanic, and he's been really helpful with welding and rustbusting and also letting me use some of his space and tools, don't know what I would've done without him. So anyway, now that I'm done with the wheel arches I'm gonna spend the summer changing lots of little parts to get it ready for MOT. I'm also gonna fix all the body and paint it. I have a gallery on top, and I loved your video of how you attached yours on top of the bus. Need to do the same but to take it off and paint it haha... Also working on my c1 licence when not in the south. HOPEFULLY by the end of the summer I'll have all the paperwork and bodywork sorted out and I can finally drive it back to Brittany to start the actual conversion! Fingers crossed.. It's a looooong process, but you know that :)
