The story on this is really the story of this country as a whole . Government waste and then government sidestepping its responsibilities only to do that over and over again and then later on down the road label it a sanctuary . If any citizen did this they would be getting fines each and every day until it was cleaned up . Infact after the clean waterways act was passed this was put on the table and instead of cleaning it up the government took the land , and then still didnt clean it up !!! I tell you its really a comedy about government waste. Mallows bay has a long rich history of one thing and one thing only , DOLLARS . Since even before those ships were moved it was a story of waste that only continued long after the debacle of moving them to mallows and then all the attempts of mining cash out of it through the years. For the locals its just been what it looks like , a huge government dumping ground that keeps drawing attention to an area that should be left alone.

They did something like this on the sabine river between texas and louisiana. This maybe some kind of sanctuary to some, but it looks like litter that was never cleaned up to me.
