I love to see these little stops along the track. If I could I would stop at them all. As I can't do that I will watch your films which is very close to actually being there! Thanks for sharing.
I gotta say that your video is superb.. Lovely locations and of course the log train capture.. Last year we stayed in the station buildings at Kirby Stephen for a weeks holiday and shot a lot of video at the station and along the line. Thanks again.
Excellent videography! I appreciate your efforts because I am unable to do something similar....and your video makes me think I was with you! I particularly enjoyed the video showing the coal train running into Hawes....we had a peep of the old line to Northallerton and I wonder if we will ever see through trains on that route again? Many thanks. Rob
Ab Fab owd lad, you even made the graffiti ( on the freightliner hoppers) look good! LoL Every credit because I've never seen a timber train on the S&C. Must be as rare as rockinorse whassit! Hugh, the Railmon.
I'm a bit late viewing this one Phil but it's well worth watching. Great scenery and picturesque stations good positioning, a bit of shunting and of course the trains. Add in a skilled cameraman and you've got a great video! Didn't know Voyagers went via the S&C, or was it a diversion? Thanks for sharing it. Ken
I know sounds a dumb question but if I was on the Californian sleeper from Inverness would I come by this route ?At 2 am it is hard to know where you are if you don’t know the country. I have done that trip twice now, fantastic.
I'm not an expert - I just like going on steam trains. Could you tell me: Is there a regular steam service/heritage line along the Settle-Carlisle route? Or are they special runs? And by the way I forgot to say much I loved the vid. In fact I copy-pasted your itinerary! Ta.
Thanks for watching and yes there are steam specials that run over the Settle line and more information on these can be found on a website called uksteam.

Hello from Greece. Excellent video Phil. Highlights:Garsdale station, the rail-worker and the wood transportation. Fav & thumbs up!
One of the more enjoyable rail videos I've seen lately. Would love to see the area in person one day, as it looks spectacular.
Brilliant video. Great location with changeable weather. I'm glad you braved it. Enjoyed every minute.

A busy day out there, pity the weather was a bit damp.
Excellent video compilation Phil of a good day out!
Thanks for Sharing!
Interesting set Phil. Typical S&C weather rain, wind and then some sun. Chris
Kirkby Stephen is a lovely spot to get some footage & the Stainmore preserved railway is only 3/4 minutes down the road
Thanks for watching.
A jolly good show. Splendid camerawork. Freight trains in UK seem to bee a bit shorter than in Finland.
great to see the signal drop at 1.35 second clip. nice video. cheers.
Good shots, and well presented.
The body panels on the Colas 66 looked a bit warped!
The Settle & Carlisle looks like to be England's version of Union Pacific's former Rio Grande with tunnels and grades and bridges.
I'de love to be on the platform with all my family watching the timber train depart:-)

Thank you for the kind words Rob they are very much appreciated.
Regards Phil.

Thanks for watching and the sleeper goes up the wcml not the Settle to Carlisle route.
Excellent footage Phil, as always. What time did the log train leave Ribblehead?
What type of locomotive is Colas Rail 66845,great video!

@981smithy Thanks
How can you find out when the Colas timber train departs? Is it a daily run?
It's not running at the moment from Ribblehead but once the line reopens I would think the one that runs down the WCML will again run down the S&C.
Ah, thanks. And will there be a way of finding out when it runs if that happens? Or is it a case of 'pot luck'?!
I live in Settle.
