    Nice! -- QUESTION -- So, if I forced you to decide, would you take the HR50 or the Amel 50? Also, what do you think of the HR 57 - is it as good as the 50? The reason I ask is I am not sure that it is a larger version of the 50 or part of the older generation of HR boats. It doesn't seem as wide in the rear as it should be. Should be another foot or two feet wider imo. Wish they would redisgn it and make it a proper width.

    Great Boat and I would be proud to own one but I dislike the twin helms (its a boat, things break, the less breakable things the better is the thinking here) and it would have to be solent rigged. For about the same price I would buy a Kraken 50. Modern, walk in engine room and better thought out for getting to those places most people don't go.

      Not yet had an Invitation to look at a Kraken, still I am sure it's in the post.

    what is the purpose of dual helm? seems conflicting?

    • @jayelwin
      @jayelwin Год назад +1

      So you can man the helm from the windward side of the boat on either tack

    I find these are very well built boats but a bit dated in terms of interior look and solutions. My heart still beats faster for the Amel 50, specially because of the unsurpassed engine room, where you don't have to move anuthing to get access to whats behind. Imagine moving the generator under high seas... And, according to Murphy's Laws, that's when you'll need to do it :)

    That step to get up off the swim platform, great if you are 7' tall.
    Teak decks... too hot under foot.
    No protection against the weather for either of the helm positions. Think rain, cold, baking sun....
    "Draught, empty standard boat * 2.35 m / 7’ 8 1/2”" this will ensure you never get to moor close in to a beach.
    Plus as someone has already said, looks very dated inside.

      @@YachtingInsider I am not going to name them but there are some where the designers have actually thought things through for practicalities sake rather than aesthetics.

      @@alfredneuman6488 That's a shame. I like to get other people's perspectives because it allows us to look at yachts differently when we do a quick boat tour or sea trial. One of the questions I always have to ask myself when wrighting articles for yachting magazines is, who is this boat for? And does it live up to its promise?

    Why is the TV hydaulic? Electric motors would make more sense.

    With all due respect, the yacht is a marvel that Hallberg Rasy yard is known for. The lady presenting the boat could wear white gloves as her tattoos somehow do not belong in this round of presentation. There is something repulsive and difficult to watch. In some other environment I would have no comments, but here??
