My dad had one, and in 1986 he bought the Orion version. They were everywhere when I was a lad. Even today, still see the odd one knocking about. One of the best looking Fords of all time. Shame the chassis and suspension wasn't great, even by the standards of the time.
I must have watched this video at least 100 times so far ,the MK3 is a very special car to me as l've had 2 of them, a 1.1L (blue) & a 1.3ghia (light opal green) and I'm currently looking for another to be the last car l ever drive, good solid MK3s are hard to find nowadays but if l'm meant to have a 3rd MK3 then l will find one 🙏👍
"Tribute" to a very AVERAGE car ..Even for 1980 ..Come on..These were NOTHING special. Average chassis and suspension ... VERY weak CVH engines... Very poor safety record in an accident... Why a tribute to something so very average. I have owned two of these .. I made the stupid mistake of buying a 2nd one... Please forgive my stupidity.
It's very personal from person to person. Like your favorite color, music etc... As engineer and owner of multiple cars, I understand that the best car of 80-s is VW Golf mk2, but anyway, Escort mk3 has it's own character. Golf reminds me tough and reliable friend, but Escort as a beautiful girlfriend. But anyway you love them both. :D I personal don't like Japanese and American cars. :)
This was a babe magnet. It was like have the fanicest suit, or aftershave. Even Golf drivers got envious. The VW golf was like a simple boiled beef and mash potatoe dish. It did the job but boring, or the other analogy is as someone put it, VW Golf was Camila Parker Bowls and the Escort like Lady Diana! She actually had one.
