what a clever idea to pound on the end of a bushing with a hammer..you are well ahead of others who still press them in..

gatt be why do u fell the need to hate? If it works and doest shroom the bushing, so what? Seems like ur the type that cant change oil with out rubber gloves and torquing the drain bolt to spec.

Seriously! Nothing against using a hammer, but not JUST a hammer! And the socket isn't hardly much better. If you can afford the machine, is it really so costly to have a piece of round stock turned to use as a proper driver?

Nice video to get ready for this rotten task, but don't beat your bushings. Run some 1" +/- threaded rod through and pull them in. You had a good system for pushing them out, same idea in reverse.

Thanks for the vid, but put a piece of wood or aluminum plate on that bushing before beating it with a hammer...
dry ice will work even better too.

Glad I saw this. Right now I have in my garage a Hitachi EX08-2 mini digger of a friends to repair. The bucket pins and bushings are shot. I have a Lathe and so fourth so all looks good to go. Thanks for posting.

You are an incredibly brave man swinging that sledge hammer like that when you were beating in the bushing :-). I would have smashed my other hand 4 or 5 times at least. GREAT VIDEO! Thanks for taking the time to do it. I have a John Deere 310C that needs new bushings really badly. I may be able to muster up the guts to attempt to do it now.

Wish you luck with your 310C. I was planning of supper cooling the bushing with condensed keyboard spray but the bushings went in easily enough without it.
