I saw this episode when it first aired and had the pleasure of meeting Enos at a collectibles show. What a complete gentleman. He spoke highly of missing Boss Hogg.
Actually, no... It wasn't rare. I remember the Desilu Studio produced shows, especially Lucille Ball's programs, frequently had notable personalities from motion pictures and other television sitcoms and "Dramedies" appear in cameo. It was sometimes announced just before the closing credits to make sure that you watched the next episode to see who it was. The TV Guide would sometimes also have the appearance mentioned in "Close Up" It would trip us out as kids to see someone like "Eliott Ness" from "The Untouchables" show up on "The Lucy Show" or "Solo & Kuryakin" from "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." show up on "Please Don't Eat The Daisies" etc.
Spin-ON's happen when a network has a popular character appear on another established show, like a cross-over. What's special about this, is Dukes of Hazzard was an action drama, while Alice was a Comedy! Plus at 1:06, they mention "Diff'rent strokes", which makes sense since Boss Hogg and Gary Coleman may be the same person, lol!
They weren't referring to the TV show Diff'rent Strokes. There is a saying "different strokes for different folks". They were using that to refer to Boss' fondness for raw liver.
@@MrRAGE-md5rj What people venerate and celebrate are clear indicator of their feelings. Fresh water doesn't come out of a salt water well! So, while a flag can't do anything on it's own, defenders of that shameful period can. It's funny how the MAGA crowd were so upset being "Told" to wear a mask for public safety. Imagine being "Forced" to do everything anyone told you under penalty of death for your entire life and then have your children and children's children be forced to as well. And then, when finally freedom comes, to have your suffering rubbed in your face by clowns flying the banner in celebration all the rapes, death, family separation, beatings, and mutilation suffered by generations because they "feel" they want to "celebrate" bring a traitor to their own country, principles and the Holy word of God. So, if you still feel like celebrating that grand heritage, please sell your wife, brothers, sisters, sins to someone in the middle east, I'm sure they will treat them kinder than so called freedom loving Americans ever treated Africans and let's hope you feel like seeing their flag fly over head. Wonder if your relatives will feel happy to see their flag after their bodies have been used and abused. Will you?
I never saw this episode until many years later and it appeared to me as though this was a crossover to perhaps increase viewership with both shows because interest had diminished in both for sure at this point.
In the movie on which this series was based "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" Alice Hyatt was played by Ellen Burstyn, her version of Alice had lived in Monterrey California, and she was traveling back there after having lived in Socorro New Mexico, after her husband was killed in a truck accident, In the sitcom, Linda Lavin's version of Alice was from New Jersey, as a side note, in the movie, the diner was in Tucson, as opposed to the series, where it is in Phoenix.
@bucky468 I’m pretty sure it was because Boss Hogg was moving drugs... Enos, ever the dimwit accidentally opened Hogg’s briefcase and the customer saw it. Boss had Enos shoot him In the head?
To be specific it was episode 1 of season 8 of Alice. The title of the episode was " Mel is Hogg-Tied" and it involved a rather ridiculous story about Boss Hogg trying to purchase the diner. Jolene, the blonde waitress in the show was a distant cousin of Hogg.
My favorite Alice episode! I remember seeing this when it first aired on CBS in the mid 80's!

Enos was so popular not only he had his only spin off despite it flopped but also here on alice TV show
Wait Dukes of Harzard and Alice take place in the same universe? Mind blown watched both as a kid and never knew.
same here ..just seeing this now..had no idea..at 11 yrs old was not a regular viewer of "Alice" by any means so i missed this for sure when it aired
Well, the CBS universe.
It was said that the blonde was a distant relative of Boss
@@wmlau69 THE DUKES OF HAZZARD And ALICE Was Owned By The Same Company Warner Brothers.
What is this cross over comic book lol.
I saw this live. It was as epic as it seemed.
Like when it first aired on TV or you were in the studio audience (was Alice taped live?)
omfg i loved enos when i was a little kid.. i mean...i LOOOOOOVED him.. when he flashed that smile **swoon**
He was your favorite "dipstick!"😁😁😁😁😁😁 I always thought that Enos was such a sweetheart.
Oh I know, when I was about 9 years old, Enos was my first 'real' crush. (Before that I crushed after Shaggy from 'Scooby Doo')
I'm a guy and he was my hero. I cried when he left the dukes
Wow! I remember Alice but never really wathed it, thus I never knew this ep existed. Always liked Enos though. He was a nice fellow
Imagine Alice having a chance to go to New York, for a singing job, during a Taxi or Alice episode.
How nice of Sorrell Brooke and Sonny Shroyer to reprise their roles as Boss Hogg and Enos Strate, respectfully, when they entered Mel's diner in the hit series titled: "Alice".

What surprised me was that Jolene and Boss Hogg were kin. Jolene should have called her Granny Gums on him.
This is a very rare occurrence of a one action show doing a crossover with a comedy show

I want a DVD of this.
I remember at some point in this episode they poured cement into Boss Hogg's car and he fell in there. :0)
I had no idea there was ever a cross over.
Thank you very much, Scott Dickison, for uploading this funny video of Alice, Vera, Flo and Mel team up to trash Boss Hogg's vehicle loaded with cement.
Please have a nice day today. ©®

I never knew this happened and I watched both shows! Kind of a weird crossover, though.
Scott Moore me too. I bet this had to do with building up his own show Enos- where he moved to California (where Alice was based).
@@michaelberry1382 Alice was based in Phoenix Arizona actually. I know it for a fact.
They usually do cross over in comic books. LOL. 😂 😂 😂 😂
LINDA LAVIN A VERY GOOD ACTOR. AND CAST TOO.
Boss HOG & Ennis in Alice!!! My Mind is blown!!!!!
I have never seen this!! I want to see the rest of it now.
Woah, so "Alice" takes place in the DoHTU ("Dukes of Hazard Television Universe")
RIP Beth Howland
The original Crossover !
What the hell I grew up on these shows dont remember this
I think Enos and Vera would make a great couple. I think she better for him then Daisy.
I agree. Vera wouldn't manipulate his kindness and innocence.
Crossovers on early TV, all we need is a Buck Rogers/Dukes crossover. Wilma Deleting vs. Daisy Duke
Dukes of hazard meets Alice
Nothing stranger than hearing Boss Hogg pronounced by a New Yorker...🤔
😆
Awesome crossover

I love how they used to do crossovers, not sure if they still do it or not? Boss Hogg!
Enos joined the LAPD!

There's a big difference between heritage & hate. A flag can't do anything on it's own.

Was Hazzard County in Arizona?
Hazzard County (and Hazzard City) is a fictional county in Georgia.

A "Jumped-The-Shark" moment clearly.
Or maybe they were trying to plug Enos' new series.
For having lived in Monterrey, CA, Alice has a pretty strong NYC accent.

Hi Enos
Hey. Enos. Where's bo and. Luke
They ate there first and was taken to the hospital for food poisoning
Sadly they weren't in this episode that I can remember.
They can't leave Hazzard county without permission because of their probation
What?? I don't remember this!
Thanks.

Crossover?!? Lol
Cool :)
This just aired on Antenna TV. There were episodes of "Alice" with great guest stars, but this wasn't one of them. Lame!

@bucky468 Ah I bet it was modified for broadcast in my country. Many American shows were dubbed over to make them much more violent
