    Thanks for watching!
    Corrections: Embrassingly, during the [Power Standards] section, i did some of the math wrong and said 11+ 7 is 16. 11 + 6 is actually 18. Thankfully, the guarding math remained the same in those examples. Sorry about that! Will be correct in further versions of this video, and will triple check any math I do in the future of this series.
    Addtional Info: None (Yet...)
    Next I'll be talking about Set 6, VGE-BT06 "Breaker Of Limits" which released on May 19, 2012.
    Were you a player around this time? Would you like to share your experience with me for the next video?► forms.gle/SwEGJSnKdNsoQoDb7

    One of the things in early Vanguard that I wish could have learned about are the multi-clan that were played at the time. I now know, of course, about the "Abyss Thing Saver" deck that was the reason behind introduction of Clan Fight, but I was always curious about whay came before and Invincible Overlord is definitely the kind of jank I was wondering about. I really appreciate you doing this series

    What a great watch!!! Thank you for making this video.
    This video really reminded how the BT01-BT05 meta was a big part of my childhood!
    I remember trying out a bunch of random deck that doesn't work (like early OTT, Amon, GIraffa etc,) until I get the hang of Tsukuyomi in BT-05 format and starts to compete in card game (not just vanguard) ever since!
    I would lab out my theory every week in the local card shops. Now that this card shop is now closed and Vanguard game change into completely different beast. This video just takes me back to when I was young and playing in tournaments in that card shop all over again. Hopefully you make other part soon!

    Context: Basskirk's main purpose was to keep soulcharging to fuel Dancing Cutlass to draw cards then you turn the Cutlass into a Samurai Spirit. The soulblast did double duty to put Samurais and Nightmists in the drop.
    Jank not really a wincondition: Yes.
    Kinda worked: Somewhat
    Did it actually matter: Barely the screwed up release schedule gave Granblue their season 2 wave support way earlier so this Set 2 deck was short lived.

    • @CurlyHairedVanguard
      @CurlyHairedVanguard  9 месяцев назад

      Oh right I forgot to mention cutlass in more detail but I'll try and bring it up when it becomes more relevant.

    • @elin111
      @elin111 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@CurlyHairedVanguard Just 1 set later Granblue already had Cocytus which, maybe was not great, but was a more cohesive boss monster.
      Cutlass indeed was a vital part of Granblue for a while for soulblasting stuff you want to revive which is a trick still done today.

    Bit of insight:
    Before Imaginary Gift or Persona Ride there was no incentive to reride so while you had to run your boss monster at 4 copies, once you ride it the remaining 3 copies were effectively dead cards with no value other than desperation vanilla rearguards or discard cost fodder. Some players would resort to those discard & draw G1s to ditch excess G3s in hand for similar reasons.
    This also means that decks that could get away with running a lower G3 count but still get consistently to their boss monster had more shield value and less bricks overall, another factor for Pongal being so high value since you could run just 2 Soul Savers.
    Wingal Brave would do the same later on, if I recall there were some MLB decks that outright did not run a any G3s besides 2 copies of MLB because Wingal Brave could search it Turn 2.

  • @tetsushinjou6456
    @tetsushinjou6456 4 месяца назад

    Yeah DO and Invincible 😀 that's what I like to see
    One thing to note about the deck was that it could afford to run 2-3 Twin Bladder since the main VG is supposed to be Invincible anyways. Set 1 tho, no PGs were used due to budget reasons and PGs only guarded the clan it was used for. Set 2 tho it became more of an option.
    I think it's not bad to look back at Japanese lists for set 1 and set 2 if we exclude the promo cards of the time, since the card pool is basically the same besides the promos.
    Also the thing that made Royal Paladins even more dangerous was that if they went first, the Kagero player would be in a catch-22 situation: they can't Gatling Claw cuz they're at 0 damage but if they don't swing into vanguard they lose out on a drive check, but if they swing out then the Llew Superior Ride is guaranteed.
    Also, Soul Saver Dragon's effect was live from the get-go if the superior ride went off because of the grade 1 ride, Barcgal, Flogal, Llew, and Blaster Blade all fueling the soul for a nice 5 cards. Margal was still important for Alfred or 18k columns to swing for 21k though.

      Mankind will never understand why that moronic decision was done Golds just became Tier 0 because it was a season 2 deck competing against season 1 decks.
      And Narukami was there too but Vermillion was baaaaaad so it was largely irrelevant

      World wss like 3 different gold paladin builds(ezel, bunny hop and SDD) and vermillion got the 4th.
      Vermillion also secured a wcq win.
      So did other decks like ott and spikes.
      Also i believe that because they wanted to meta to shift, they put set 6 first to combat set 3 and set 5's super broken cards( the big 3 of mlb dote and tsuk)

      Duke, pellinore, ezel, vermillion.
      If the top 4 of worlds was willista, kairi, herminia and youthberk, it wouldnt be a tier 0 format just different lyrical decks.
