It's a fucking punishment, not revenge.

It's death or hell, that's your option before doing something that will break the law. If you wish to change a law you study to make that argument, or rest your case, but these arguments are futile. Everyone lies, which makes rehabilitation unreliable, i'll leave it there. The problems the justice systems have at the moment are because they are WEAK., and you make arguments to make them weaker? GET A FUCKING GRIP!

Bad people should fear justice. Without that fear, justice is not whole. So yes, justice should have an element of revenge (retribution) for the victim. But that revenge must be exacted by a third party, not the victim himself.

Absolutely obselete. It's same when you cross the Line on zebra cross on the street when green light. When you drive too fast more than the speed line on the high way. When you drive a car or bike without driving license from the related principals. We live on the country that has law to rule their people. If you don't wanna be taken in rule. Don't live on earth. Just go to the space . There are many planets there, but Don't forget God always watch you, wherever you are. The problem is " Do you believe God ?" everything on your hands. 🌐🇬🇧♥️

By far the weakest argument in the debate. Basing the whole point around the notion of human improvement and human evolution makes it too easy to address by simply pointing to evolutionary biology or evolutionary psychology. As far as we would like it not to be the case, the "Tabula Rasa" or "Blank Slate" mythos was already proven false.

He specifically rejects any form of tabula rasa argument by invoking the centuries of thinking required to get past revenge.
Besides that, the improvement isn't in the criminal. It's in us, the members who build society. Some of us, at least.
Others are arguing for the opposition.

Very weak argument in general and laughably weak @6:25 in answer to a serious question. Zero definition of the problem. Fuzzy talk. And note this guy has on his resume: Nederlands kampioen debatteren (Dutch champion debating) in 1991. Which mostly indicates that debates are a useless format. And he apparently was a honorary member of the 'Debating Society Leiden', since 1995, as well as a member of the 'Comité van Aanbeveling Nederlands Kampioenschap Beleidsdebatteren'.
Such weak minds and unconvincing speakers are left to us to become minister of 'Security' and Justice (he did not hold out for long, after 2 years he tripped over various lying affairs and political dances involving the PM and had to be cleared off the board).
All of this is too complex to even touch on here but it is insane to not hear about the real societal concerns around stopping and detaining recidivist criminals, or people who clearly do not give a damn about the values of our society, the PERCEIVED relative fairness of punishments, actual execution of punishments, the (for foreigners) laughable sentences in NL, the disproportional sentencing from the pov of the local population, etc. Most people don't want plain 'revenge' they just want JUSTICE, and a sensible system which keeps clear maniacs, murderers, and organized criminals off the streets and creates at least some deterrence of punishment in proportion to the crime. This is known to be lost completely.

"Very weak argument" applies well to these ad hominems.

You cannot do it better my friend. In fact, many Dutch people can't do this better. You seem to build your arguments based on resentment. Actually, this is obvious.
