I agree with Daver, the drydown is absolutely amazing. It had a creaminess about it that's so unique and classy. Although it smells similiar to cool water...you can easily tell the difference between the two. This is much more natural and elegant smelling. The projection is good for the first 1-2 hours then it gets close to my skin. However it still lingers for 6-9 hours.
The longer you wear GIT the more you appreciate the differences. The longer you wear Cool Water the more you wish it was GIT. Like you guys said it's a fragrance lovers fragrance. That's why Luca Turin loves Cool Water.
I get good projection for the first 2 hours then it gets extremely close to the skin. Longevity is great though, I can still smell it on my wrist after 9 hours. The opening is a bit "'harsh" to my nose, but after about 20 miles it smells amazing.
I'm on my third bottle of Irish Tweed now, wonderful, i wouldnt recommend the Milesime Imperial though, smelt too overpowering and a tang of bad body odour, but Irish Tweed is the best.
Great review guys! I LOVE this frangrance on my husband! Every time he wears it he knows he will get lucky because he knows I can't keep my hands off him!! Amazing!!
Actually, I retract that. It's opening is reminiscent of GIT but now that I've sprayed one on my left wrist and the other on my right, they smell pretty different. Still, worth checking out if you dig GIT.
My SOTD! Got a 4 oz tester with cap from Lily Direct. I checked the code on my bottle and it was a 2014 bottle. Its smells the same as the ones at my local Nordstrom. I checked the date for the ones in store and they were from 2013 at full retail price. The top and dry down are amazing. Once my 4 oz bottle is gone i'll repurchase another bottle.
I just got a sample of this. I own tres nuit and they smell almost spot on. GIT is a little bit more well put together and is smoother. Almost gives off a clean laundry vibe. Anyone feel the same?
You guys made many great points that I totally agree with. I'm going to do a top 10 work scents or safe scents or blind buys or something to that effect and this will rank very highly in any of those. So versatile and easy to wear. Luckily, not many people wear Cool Water here so I won't get confused for wearing that.
I like GIT a lot. I'll wear it over cool water just out of personal preference. But, I'm in a similar situation to Jer, don't really get, or expect, too many compliments outside of a handful of people so not a big issue to me. Great review!
Good point, Cary Grant died in 1986. I also think it's interesting too that Creed has been around since 1760, but try and find a vintage bottle dating before 1960. I really like some of Creed's fragrances, but I believe their history is a bit sketchy. Great video as always!
It was a private blend created for Carey Grant and Creed didn't have the ability to publicly release it till the 80's, a similiar situation to Love in Black which was created for Jackie O.
I can't say I'm a fan of GIT. I tend to not like green fragrances. As Luca Turin says about vetiver being an "unbending note", I think of green fragrances as being "unbending". It's hard to explain. I used to think the same way about gourmands, but that has since changed. Oh, and as for favorite drydown, I LOVE Santal Massoia's drydown. It's so simple (just nice and woody), but it's so perfect.
@SmokedTails yeah that's true! thanks for reminding us! whenever we do our shoot-out, we'll have to mention the EDP/EDT thing as a factor. :) thanks for the "kind" words! ;-) if you buy things through our link in ebates, you'll get money back! check out our ebates vid for more details. :)
i agree 100% guy's for me it has one of the best openings i have ever smelled, but i only get like 4-5 hrs top's. coolwater used to be my go to before i really got into colognes but to me it seems like coolwater doesn't smell like it used to. great job bro's
Wow, you guys seem genuinely into fragrances and look like you have such a good time! its refreshing. I'm totally new to the scene, and just hit subscribe. Thanks!
@QWERTYOP80 in a few weeks we're going to test Cool Water and then do a shoot-out between the two to definitively put our stamp on whether or not they smell alike. :) i honestly get no mossy greenness from GIT, but i do get a freshness in it. the tops of these smell like complete opposites to us. the real similarities come with the heart notes.
Great scent but projection is poor on my skin. I noticed a trend Daver, typically in the projection department we seem to have opposite performance more often than not, lol.
There wasn't much info out there, but Creed was a fav of Cary Grant's. This was released a year before he died. Who knows?! I do love some Cary Grant! =D
Damn it would’ve been awesome if you guys were still doing this kind of review together now that we’re in the era of Clones. Considering the fact that you guys also had the same sentiments with theirry mugler cologne and original vetiver; and original santal vs individuel. Ohhh imagine the shoot outs! Get Jer back!
Fragrance Bros. That’s too bad man. Would’ve been great if you had this enthusiasm about comparing dupes and originals. But yeah I guess things change man. Do you!
I was excited to try this one out, and probably would have liked it, if it wasn't for one of the notes. I think it's either the iris or violet, or maybe a mix of the two - it made me nauseous. I tried Bond no.9 "Chez Bond" (close to GIT), and I had the same reaction, although not as strong as with Creed
Excellent review as always guys!!! You hit this one right on the head, the opening is a little different and smells green, but your definitely right that once it gets to the heart it smells just like cool water
Who cares if people think it's Cool Water...as long as you smell good and you know & enjoy the fact that you have on GIT and that makes you feel good...its all good! Love this juice...need to get a bottle before summers end.
Daver, how much and where do you spray GIT to get such great longevity/projection? I don't really know how it projects/smells coming off of me since I can't seem to smell it around myself too prominently after a while of wearing it. I've done 2 or sometimes 3 sprays on the back/sides of the neck.
Would love to hear you guys discuss Penhaligon's "Blenheim Bouquet." And also discuss the range of Geo.F.Trumper. Definite family relationship of scents. Many feel refreshing, almost summery,
According to frompyrgos, Pierre Bourdon who was the perfumer for Cool Water, was involved heavily in the consultation of GIT. It should also be noted that GIT is an EdP and CW is EdT. It's a good read, definitely worth looking up on blogspot. Enough of that... Great videos, I look forward to cursing you in the future for making me buy things. Happy holidays to you and yours.
I think GIT smells like Cool Water for 15 minutes, then veers off into a different direction. For me, GIT goes into a mossy green-ness, while CW goes sea air-ish.
Great review FragranceBros! Your reviews never disappoint, this is one I was really looking forward to. Im like you Daver, I get excellent projection and longevity, and I'm not one to usually get that. Suprisingly, GIT has also been getting me a ton of compliments =)
"One of CREED's best known men's fragrances, Green Irish Tweed was created by sixth-generation master perfumer Olivier CREED for a film industry client who personified masculine style and elegance on the silver screen. Offered to the discerning public years later, this blend of sandalwood, ambergris, violet leaves, verbena and iris immediately found a loyal following and an honored place among the world's most legendary fragrances for men."
Your overall rating a the end of this video should just be on the fragrance itself. You mentioned factoring in the rest of the world's opinions in your ratings (i.e. how close other people think Cool Water is to GIT) instead of just giving your rating on GIT itself. That's kind of silly.
@bobrobadob (Jer) Yea, I think they purposely (and somewhat surreptitiously) capitalize on that company establishment date to give their reputation and perception a more regal slant. Meh. I still love them as a fragrance house though!
LOL he-man. .great reviews guys.. I def agree with your take. Great review and I love how you guys have a down to earth approach.. I have an idea for a video.. I gotta run it past you guys and see what u think.. It has to do with that tv behind u and maybe some special guests LoL
Loved the review ! Ive gotten compliments on this but 3 times out of 5 its been followed by ive smelled that before.lol... But none the less still a great fragrance :)
morning guys... been watching you this am... you two are a "F'ing" riot together... u really do bring alot of fun to this stuff which can become very mundane.... just a cudo's to ya. have a great day... cant quite figure out where you're from... FL? TN? AL? lots of that "southern charm"... but doesn't feel GA or SC ish...... lemme know... and thanks for the entertaining education...... :=} right up in em... hilarious!!!!
Strange thing is!, first time i wore this fragrance it smelled horrible. (Urine of a cat realy) realy strange. Something must have been wrong. After buying a bottle this may still be the best creed for me. Fresh and green. Long lasting and earthy drydown
I just got samples today and i think GIT smells AWFUL. I think Cool Water is basically the same smell as GIT it just has less of a headache inducing smell to me. I cant stand GIT.
Quite emasculating when some one comes up to you and say"i love sean johns unforgivable" Then your like but i'm wearing Creed! Millesime Imperial! damnit!
Creed have been around for centuries but predominantly as a tailor (which earned them a Royal Warrant). Their history as a fragrance house is full of BS and flat out lies. Not a fan of Creed or this fragrance but great review nonetheless. Love you bros.
Yep, I liked it the very first time I smelled it but after that it always seemed to morph into a vomity-chemical smell like the stuff used to clean up vomit in grade school mixed with fresh vomit. Very robust, yet vomit like.
kofi koranteng I thought I was the only one who this nauseated. I actually think Cool Water is pretty good, but for some reason the GIT has something in it that really stands out and makes me nauseous. And that's surprising, because I think GIT is more natural and less synthetic than CW.
I agree with Daver, the drydown is absolutely amazing. It had a creaminess about it that's so unique and classy. Although it smells similiar to cool water...you can easily tell the difference between the two. This is much more natural and elegant smelling. GIT is a masterpiece. It's cool water that should be getting the reduced remarks since it came out afterwards.
Nicky T completely agree. Very very good point.
The longer you wear GIT the more you appreciate the differences. The longer you wear Cool Water the more you wish it was GIT. Like you guys said it's a fragrance lovers fragrance. That's why Luca Turin loves Cool Water.

Cary Grant was not a user of GIT according to official Creed literature (just got home from Saks with a few samples and some literature).
Actually, I retract that. It's opening is reminiscent of GIT but now that I've sprayed one on my left wrist and the other on my right, they smell pretty different. Still, worth checking out if you dig GIT.
You guys did a great job with the bottle splits and labeling when you split GIT a few months ago. I love my 30ml bottle.
My SOTD! Got a 4 oz tester with cap from Lily Direct. I checked the code on my bottle and it was a 2014 bottle. Its smells the same as the ones at my local Nordstrom. +John Embardino That's a lie. It's just BS marketing
Sounds very strange! Maybe Creed want us to believe in that, but there are no outside proves of that whatsoever. All about the marketing and the hype.
I can't say I'm a fan of GIT. I tend to not like green fragrances. As Luca Turin says about vetiver being an "unbending note", I think of green fragrances as being "unbending". It's hard to explain. I used to think the same way about gourmands, but that has since changed.

The guys from sonic commercial before sonic commercials lmao 😂😂

I honestly have zero desire to compare clones to originals. Jer might make guest appearances from time to time, though
Fragrance Bros. That’s too bad man. Would’ve been great if you had this enthusiasm about comparing dupes and originals. But yeah I guess things change man. Do you!
a lot of articles I've read says that iwt came out before c.w. but i cant fine any proof
I was excited to try this one out, and probably would have liked it, if it wasn't for one of the notes.

Great Review guys... I still need to pick this one up just to add it to my collection
Excellent review as always guys!!! You hit this one right on the head, the opening is a little different and smells green, but your definitely right that once it gets to the heart it smells just like cool water

just sampled GIT and i have to say this stuff outlasses the pants of coolwater. just smells way smoother. no contest GIT walks away the winner
Daver, how much and where do you spray GIT to get such great longevity/projection? I don't really know how it projects/smells coming off of me since I can't seem to smell it around myself too prominently after a while of wearing it. I've done 2 or sometimes 3 sprays on the back/sides of the neck.
Have you guys tried Usher yet? It's super cheap the opening is pretty similar to GIT.
my best drydowns are givenchy pi and chanel's allure homme sport
@wagsbass yeah we'd probably agree mostly. there are differences, but they're so close to us.
Bought 16.6 Fl oz from FragNet but I feel like it is not lasting more than 30mins is that common?
Would love to hear you guys discuss Penhaligon's "Blenheim Bouquet."
And also discuss the range of Geo.F.Trumper. Definite family relationship of scents. Many feel refreshing, almost summery,
thank you! We have a sample of Geo F Trumper. we need to test it some. :)
According to frompyrgos, Pierre Bourdon who was the perfumer for Cool Water, was involved heavily in the consultation of GIT. It should also be noted that GIT is an EdP and CW is EdT. It's a good read, definitely worth looking up on blogspot. Enough of that...

I’m wearing this right now and I love it!
Me too. And its great. Wonderfull opening. So fresh and green
the ending is gold
What happened to the third fragrance bro?
First time I sprayed GIT, I had to wash it off because it was too strong.
hi there! thank you very much! yeah we're from AL. :)
You guys really need to try Aspen.
@martinaee thank you sir! we try. :)
@razscott hahaha! yeah man! the price is a little high!
I think GIT smells like Cool Water for 15 minutes, then veers off into a different direction. For me, GIT goes into a mossy green-ness, while CW goes sea air-ish.

I agree. This is an old video. I need to do a re-review for that very reason.
Great Carry Grant-face! hahaha!
Great review.Love GIT. I get also very good longev and project.
Yes, do a review on Davidoff Cool Water.
I get the soapy vibe in the opening too
@bobrobadob (Jer) Yea, I think they purposely (and somewhat surreptitiously) capitalize on that company establishment date to give their reputation and perception a more regal slant. Meh. I still love them as a fragrance house though!
A classic scent! Love it!
hi wazup whats ur favorite creed ever ?
LOL he-man. .great reviews guys.. I def agree with your take. Great review and I love how you guys have a down to earth approach.. I have an idea for a video.. I gotta run it past you guys and see what u think.. It has to do with that tv behind u and maybe some special guests LoL
love this stuff....great review guys!
It does smell good, but it DOES smell just like Cool Water. Of course GIT smells better, but Davidoff definitely did a great job making a cheap copy.
Loved the review ! Ive gotten compliments on this but 3 times out of 5 its been followed by ive smelled that before.lol... But none the less still a great fragrance :)
lol yeah, i've gotten that response before
Jer spontaneously breaking out into song is hilarious
@1xraydoc thank you!! :D
CANNOT BE FLAPPED!!!
Shan’t be flapped!
morning guys... been watching you this am... you two are a "F'ing" riot together... u really do bring alot of fun to this stuff which can become very mundane.... just a cudo's to ya. have a great day... cant quite figure out where you're from... EDP? Or EDT?
Jesse Cortez there's only an EDP
@jeffrey18930576 hahaha! if this video mysteriously gets taken down, you'll know we're dead meat. ;-)
U guy's are so damn funny, The fragrance bro's comedy show, great review...
@DenBuh ha! wow. is it hot in here?? lol. that's probably the best advertising yet. ;-)
I just got samples today and i think GIT smells AWFUL. I think Cool Water is basically the same smell as GIT it just has less of a headache inducing smell to me. I cant stand GIT.
after smelling it a bit more, I've come to appreciate GIT but I've concluded its too mature smelling for my age.
@wagsbass wow. the plot thickens! :)
Love you bros.
fortunately lady gaga is the ambassador for Theirry Mugler. If she was associated with Creed then I will have to give up wearing Creed
I don't think it smells like cool water...Really dislike Angel men ! agree to disagree :P
Overrated junk that doesn't last.....way overpriced
Sorry guys GIT smells like garbage. I can't stand the smell. Feel like throwing up. Lol
It's really a big NO!!!!! Lol
kofi koranteng everyone is entitled to their opinions
Yep, I liked it the very first time I smelled it but after that it always seemed to morph into a vomity-chemical smell like the stuff used to clean up vomit in grade school mixed with fresh vomit. Very robust, yet vomit like.
