Your styling with thrifted decor series is my favorite of all you’ve released! For a couple decades, I’ve been collecting and tweaking my style. Your decorating secrets are very helpful. Houseplants, bright and bold pottery, and clear crystal pieces are my current favorites. Thank you.
Sara, I love your “Designing Thrifted Items” series. You inspire me! I get so excited to “seek & find” items to transform. Thinking outside the box. It brings me such joy when venues come together. I just rewatched 6-8. Thank you for always sharing your heart!
I was a colorist for 30 years and as a hairstylist and working with hair color, lifting and adding artificial color to hair undertones are key! It’s such an amazing and interesting part of the color around us everyday, I absolutely love color theory. Thank you for sharing, I love your videos and I treasure your knowledge and I look forward to watching your videos everyday. ~Shary~
@@SheHoldsDearly There are sooo many lovely videos on RUclips, that people have shared, but yours is just amazing, I'm so glad I subscribed!!!!! Have a lovely week!!
When I moved into my first home a few years ago I had pretty much a zero budget :). I scoured hard rubbish day (incredible what people ditch) and found a lovely vintage chair, 60s side table, storage cabinet and large gold guilded mirror. That with a few hand me downs of a couch, bed, 60s cigarette table. I painted my own walls which man, does that simple step make a big change. Had family and friends help me with tiling the shower and painting kitchen cabinets. Found fabric in a charity shop, exact meterage needed to make light blocking curtains. Sewed cushion covers from charity fabric I'd collected over the years. The only items I spent money on was a vintage cabinet from the 50s/60s for my food - perfectly sized and an Ikea dining table. Lastly lots of plants, photos and art by family, friends and my beginner pieces! Congrats on the 50K. Enjoying your videos.
Good for you Sarah so happy to be among the 50! Love these thrift in videos and especially the use of undertones.Have been going through all my books and pulling off the paper covers you’re right there is such a beauty underneath. Thank you for all you are teaching us you are so uplifting after a day of work.
You truly have an amazing eye, whether formally trained or not. I find the ability to design is a gift like any other. It all looks so beautiful! Wish I had the patience and tenacity to hunt thrift shops. They just all seem so junky here in Vegas!
I’m late to the party, recently had opportunity to downsize & purchase my grandmothers small country house. The house is on family land down the road from the original homestead where my 70+ year old mother lives. My husband and I moved from a 2100+ 4 bedroom home, to a 1200-1400, your channel inspires me, I want to incorporate cotton, windmill, but also my antiques & paintings so I was thrilled to hear about cottage core!
THANK YOU for explaining the use of colors with different undertones. I do that and I guess I’m doing it correct by repeating it at least twice in the space. Those undertones are hard because of window placement and north, south, east or west SUN light !!! Great...great advice again sweet lady ! 💛💛
Everything you touch turns to gold, Sarah! Didn't go thrifting this past weekend because of Easter, but I already have a thrifting date for next Saturday! I have my eye on some lovely blue goblets at a consignment store. Congratulations on the 50,000 subscribers. 50,000 smart ladies!💝
Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us all. Really love how you style your home I have lots of Antiques from when I owned a store so I am always always changing things up its a lot of fun and I am one heck of a thrifter too lots of fun ideas Love and blessings from Utah
FYI -- for collectible, antique books, the value of the book is significantly reduced when the dust jacket is removed. I too use books for decorative purposes! I wouldn't be without them on a coffee table, shelf, etc. Also, I've been doing some spring cleaning, and made several trips to donate excess stuff. I'm wondering now if I got rid of anything I could have recycled!!
Was just talking about undertones this morning. We got a new gray couch. I wanted to use a wood chair that we have, that is medium brown with red undertones (koa wood), but they didn’t seem to work together. Than I saw a pic of the same color gray couch and reddish woods tied together with a vintage rug featuring gray and reddish terra-cotta among other colors. Suddenly it all works. It is quite a trick, and new to me today!
Love to thrift, the challenge of making something beautiful or finding a treasure is so addictive! I have a space....not sure what to do with it. Very challenging.
Congratulations on 50k! 🎉🎈🍾 when your channel came up I saw that and I was floored! I think I started watching your channel when you had around 2k. Yay for you! I love the way you styled the mantel and all the reasoning behind your choices. And I loved the mirrors in that space.
Congrats on 50k!!! I so enjoy that you show us how to decorate beautifully I a budget. We don't have many good thrift stores but I do shop at Home Goods, Marshalls and T J Maxx for values.
I'm learning that HOBBY LOBBY, ALSO is a fabulous place to find super looking things. I didn't have that kind of luck in my town's HL, but I will keep looking. I'm into almost ANY Bunny ever made! But I can't yet bring myself to put faux greenery in my house. I just think...more dust and I was always taught never to use faux flowers, greenery, etc. I have two sets of faux flowers, tho, as they look so very expensive, probably because they were expensive!
I just started pulling the covers off starting with some books that I already owned. The book in my spring diy video was the first one I ever took the cover off of. I'd why I was so reluctant to do this before. But I'm happy with the result.
I hope you frame the cover from the book, those hydrangeas are so pretty!!! If you are going to just get rid of it, I would love if you could send it my way. Love your videos!!!!! Thank you for them.
That was awesome! Love the green mixed play on undertones! Now I have to go google “hall tree” if that’s even what you are saying lol I will try to find out!
Think the lamp shade should be all black, as in previous comment. Love everything else except the animal horns as I grew up with too many of them in parents and grand parents homes in Texas.
Congratulations. Over 50,000, that's great. I'm waiting for every new episode of you. I love your cardigan. Where did you buy it? Best regards from Germany🤗🇩🇪🍀
I'm sorry, that giveaway is now closed, but I do offer Power Hour Consultation sessions if you are still interested: finding-time-to-hold-dearly.teachable.com/p/power-hour
I SO need a consult. I’m 72 and wanting to get rid of that granny look which is creeping in. Plus I’m feeling stuck between my Traditional Antique and Farmhouse/Primitive attractions.
Hey this is aoff topic but I have a quick question. What manufacturer is your leather bag that you show in the part with the styling of the two round mirrors.Yours looks exactly like the one I just recently thrifted( so, not entirely off topic) but I'm trying to find a manufacturer.
@@SheHoldsDearly OMGosh. I just checked it out and it looks much less "expensive" on the site, but in the video...I thought it was REAL Leather!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I promise you. I thought, "Well, she sure does have a very nice rea leather bag!!!" I was envious!!! Just goes to show how Thrifting REALLY works! I should know! I also bought a black Faux leather on Amazon and it is Gorgeous and looks like real, lamb-skin soft leather!!! And has lots of beautiful gold hardware hoops and zippers all over it! Stunning!!! Paid bout $30! I knew I loved you!!! Kindred souls!
@@dannagordon9618 it is real leather ! I love the bag perfect size and shoulder drop length love the color ...but the one i thrifted smelled of mold ! I just ordered the one from amazon . Opps edit - it is described as greased leather , than in another area says it us PU leather . I hope it doesnt smell , some of the reviews mention it having a chemical smell
Interesting that undertones weren’t taught in design school as I believe they are for makeup and clothing. I’ve known since my teens that I need red with a blue/ cool undertone not an orange/ warm undertone, etc.
That's an interesting point, Amy! I am always surprised when I chat with fellow designer friends, most of them did not learn about it in school, either!
