Great video Jeremy and Ashley
Great job boiling down the maple syrup in the new shed. Sam looked very nice tasting the fresh boiled maple syrup, with thumb’s up on taste test! Love you guy’s, be safe, stay healthy, God Bless everyone!
Hey You Guys, I know I say this all the time
but glad to see you looking ahead and doing your thing,
And Family is everything, Love the videos, keep 'em coming
Beautiful syrup. That's what my husband Walt did today. It's been a great year here in Michigan.
Thank you for sharing your story. 🌸
Good for you guys.
That’s was very pretty with the steam rolling off while making syrup. The shed will make it so much more enjoyable!
when sam gives a thumbs up, its good
I'm enjoying that vlog so sweet, lol
A thumbs up like Sam.👍👍👍👍👍
Yea we marked 45 trees yesterday. I tapped 4 maple and 4 birch a week ago and so far nothing, but a bit early and has been cool with the odd 10c day here in Thunder Bay. Cant wait to start boiling it up here in the next few weeks, last year March 28th was first boil for us. All good, hoping the 45 trees keeps us busy...cheers Fred
All the best with your season once it kicks in.
Good luck
It begins ...... Have fun!
I could almost taste the delicious Canadian goodness of the maple syrup through my screen! 😊 Sam is getting a great education as she grows up learning the sugaring techniques from you. Thank you! 👍💗
Thanks for showing the first of the season syrup boil! So much better for you with the shack, and the wood stacked up there! Would love to order a bottle of your syrup if you go that route! You have your farm set up pretty good now!
Awesome good luck with the rest, can't wait to see the rest.
So many amazing ways to repurpose an old fuel oil tank. I cut out the side of one and laid it down like you did. Then I place an expanded metal grate on the cutout area and can cook 45 halves of chicken over 60 pounds of charcoal.
That is so cool, I bet it smells amazing while the sap is cooking in the shack. Here's to you all and a bumper syrup season
Cool video. That looks really good. 👍👍👍❤️
Nice!
Looks awesome
interesting process
If Sam likes the Maple syrup and gives it a thumbs up it must be good. I bet its as sweet as Sam. Love & Hugs. God Bless.
With as many people that will want some, you may have to break it down to 6 or 8oz bottles. It looks amazing y’all.
Hope you all srr ok
All is well, thanks :)
That looks good I love maple syrup I could drink it right from the bottle thanks for the video have a great night
That's a good start
I suddenly have a craving for pancakes. I'll wait until I can get some genuine Mapleberry Maple syrup.
That stuff looks delish!!!
Sugar shack test run looked great! Happy Sunday gang!
There is just something about the entire process I really love watching! Your sugar shack turned out great too!
Thanks, love these days. Love the process.
Glad i turned my pc on and tuned in, almost missed the first fire up!
My late grandpa used to sit in front of the tv after dinner with a bowl of syrup and a spoon lmao He didn't like sweet all that much 🤣
Sure looks good guys
Good morning to you'll
Hopefully this crazy winter will be over soon. I thought last Thursday we were done with it until they gave a blizzard a name and it's tearing across the northwest heading east. So hopefully you guys will start seeing nice warm days soon. I cannot wait to you guys are completely up and running. I'm really looking forward to seeing what that's like. I love the example that you showed today that was pretty cool.
Just remember think warm thoughts.
I never knew how little maple syrup is made from so much raw syrup or sap yet found it very interesting, thanks.
at least through all adversity your confidence has not been shattered
Cool!
Fresh maple syrup. Bring on the pancakes and bacon. Yum 🤤
Real butter on my pancakes and some of your maple syrup, oh yea baby, peace my brother.
Here in Texas that would become a smoker real fast! Those trays would be perfect for the sauce to.
Not that cold today... just zero degrees.....🥶🥶🥶
Thumbs up from Sam it must be good 🇦🇺❤️🇦🇺❤️👍👍💖
Good morning MBF family ☕️ happy Sunday.... suddenly I have a craving for WAFFLES, extra butter and syrup... have a blessed day
I just finished eating French toast covered in maple syrup haha :)
@@MBFModernHomesteading 😎👍
Sweet Video.
Another great video guys. Trying my hand at maple syrup is on the bucket list of to do's. Cheers 🍻
Looks so yummy !!!
I've got a similar evaporator setup. I also burn slab wood. I found, if I spilt the slabs to about wrist size, I would get a hotter faster boil. I try and fire every 7 to 10 mins. The only 2 downfalls, it sucks splitting slab wood by hand! You burn alot more wood.
Best of luck on the season
Sam approved!
You can't start a fire by crumpled paper you have to twist. Gotta love the movie the Great Outdoors.
haha
I was shattered when I heard about your window.
Nice video, I boiled Sat. and Sun. You guys have a lot of snow, we have none.
Try drizzling a spoonful of the warm syrup on the snow. = maple candy 😋
Did that a couple weeks ago with Sam :)
Ahhh. Now that's my girl...pass the chocolate!!!☕☕☕
I think an Australian tasting MBF maple syrup would be a great idea for a vid 😂😂😂
Now I'm craving pancakes!
Looks good! I'm guessing it smells good too.
Great beginnings to your new SUGAR SHACK . Hope your able to produce gallons and gallons . Whoops I’m a Canadian, what am I saying. Litres upon litres of syrup this year 😂😂. Sam gave it a thumbs up so it must be good 👍. Great video guys, keep up the good work. 🇨🇦❤️
Looks GREAT!!!!! I only use the dark maple not the light amber you find in the stores. I love the rich maple flavor from the dark. I’m ready to order when you are😃
I bet those syrup tastes delicious I never had homemade Canadian syrup, I like the setup looking at that syrup boil making me want pancakes Wow look how yummy that look give me a taste God Bless
Just had some French toast with maple syrup on it, some tasty :)
😋 maple surple
Good stuff my friends. Doing the same taping 50 trees but just a bit to cold for the liquid to run. If it can get cold at night and warm in the daytime that's what we want. Someday will try to buy some from you guys. But great work.did you guys tap a lot of trees. And your set up seems to work good.
Didn't count the number we did yet but probably 70-80.
Please don't laugh I have told you my dad's 92 before I showed him this video and Jeremy as you were taking a taste and opening your mouth my Dad's mouth open too like he was tasting it we all started laughing and all he could say was I'm so jealous you guys have a great day.
Thats awesome :)
you should still strap the chimney to the eaves
Awesome, so when do I pickup my maple syrup... lol
Looks good, so what kind of inspection rules do you have there pertaining to selling your homemade Maple Syrup?
We don't sell it yet, so none. But otherwise it just needs to be properly labeled.
@@MBFModernHomesteading Thanks, I expect you could sell every bottle you produce. I will gladly be a customer when the time comes. Here in Colorado they make it easy to sell most farm produced products.
I was thinking about the roof over the boiler and if it would deform from the heat. Looks like it held up on the first short run of reducing the sap.
It'll be good :)
Early Squad!! Happy Sunday!!
I wish I could tap the Silver Maples in my yard. I am guessing they don't produce very good syrup. Needless to say, I am just a touch envious. Love the content as always. Be well and good luck with this seasons Maple syrup production. It would be huge for you guys if you were able to produce enough to sell.
Just give it a try. I think they bud earlier than other maples and the ratio is higher but worth a shot.
You have passed the taste test, Officially
You may was to put a blower fan on your Stove..Gets the fire hotter and is more efficient. Nice set up though...
Pretty interesting to see the process....do you guys sell it later on when you get enough made? Just curious....and thank you guys....
We will mention it if we are going to sell it, just waiting to see how well the season goes.
No flowing water no flowing sap. Once the snow starts melting and the rains come the sap will flow more.
A Great Start - Did it help melt the ice around the boiler?
It melted down a bit, yes.
Liquid Gold......".Sam approved"
Great job the sugar content is higher at the first of the season but I like the syrup at the end of the season I know the light syrup grades higher but I like the darker stuff. I don't know what happened to your comment on my touching a calf moose but I went the thank you for watching and I can't find it to reply to it I see it in my notifications click on it and its gone.
I will just go comment again ;) That was cool .
@@MBFModernHomesteading I tapped a couple Manatoba maples on the weekend and they were doing way better than the sugar maples were.
Assalamualaikum warohmatullohi wabarokatuh
👍👍👍👌❤
Have you considered using a reverse osmosis filter to refine your syrup? I hear it cuts down on your boiling times...
If we ever run lines we will look into it for sure, they are pretty cool .
We’re just getting started with boiling in Ottawa. Temperature won’t cooperate
Waiting for my bottle...............
How do you know when you have boiled long enough? Cool clip
When the temp reaches 219 F.
Looks delicious!
Can I buy a jar of your maple syrup please?
We will mention it if we are going to sell it, just waiting to see how well the season goes.
Do you sell your syrup? If so when and where can you order some?
Do you have a pre-order list?
We will mention it if we are going to sell it, just waiting to see how well the season goes.
Yum!! Do y'all ship syrup "down south"?? ;-)
We will mention it if we are going to sell it, just waiting to see how well the season goes. And we would for sure!
👍🏻😋
How long did it take you to boil down that sap to syrup?
This batch probably took 4 hrs.
My older brother used to say, when I got in his road, "You're a pain, but I can't see through ya." Also, I suspect there are pancakes in your near future?
Had French toast the next morning :)
Hi MBF, besides maple syrup do you make sugar, Here in the UK maple syrup is very expesive.
It will really depend on how much we get this year as it takes a lot of Maple Syrup to make it. But would love to!
500 gallons of syrup from the trees and you filled 1 bottle? What’s the cost analysis? $500 USD per liter?
I had 5 gallons ;)
My that little Sam is just as pretty as her mom
How many hours does it take to boil in down into syrup? 💗
It all depends on how much you are boiling, how hot the fire is , etc. But this batch probably took 4 hours or so.
Princess auto fire starter
!;-)
Hey, where did you guys go ?
Right here :)
@@MBFModernHomesteading haven't seen a new post in a few days, everything ok ?
@@Duerke Yes, all is well, waiting for our kitchen cabinets to get here and also waiting for the cold weather to turn so we can start making maple syrup. Both should be happening soon and a new video will be out when that happens :)
@@MBFModernHomesteading glad your all well, enjoy some family time that editing may save. Be safe , see you soon.
Hi guys how can I go about buying some maple syrup from you here in Dallas TX I love your videos
We will mention it if we are going to sell any this year :)
Will you be selling your maple 🍁 syrup can I place my order.
We will mention it if we do so, just waiting to see how well it goes.
If you need some labels for your bottles come see me in Freddy and we will do you some up.
That's cool, where at?
@@MBFModernHomesteading 6 Colour Copy & Printing, 830 Hanwell Road....bring a bottle that you will be using so we will know the size and if you have a digital image of your logo to forward to me as well to incorporate into the design....take care...no sap running today!
@@jamieperry7333 Awesome, and way too cold for sap today!
😂🤣😂❤️🇦🇺❤️👍👍
all you need now is some pancakes..
Just finished eating French toast :)
i guess i better start cooking
Sorry guys, I don't understand metrics. Pints, quarts gallons please?
Up here in Canada, we use both, we normally try to give both in the videos, sorry about that.
