    Puerto Rico has been a Commonwealth to the U.S. for nearly 100 years! Every Puerto Rican is *infact* a U.S. citizen, with Puerto Rico being a U.S. territory it is the executive duty of any U.S. president to provide relief and aid for *all* of its citizens. *WAIVE THE PORT TAXES for relief efforts!!!!!* In a humanitarian crisis is should never be debated! Waive the taxes as they were for Florida & Houston to provide aid expeditiously, this is a natural disaster & citizens lives-human lives are literally at stake!

      black pearl Call your senators, urge them to tell Congress to waive port taxes to Puerto Rico for *relief efforts,* it is unacceptable that it is even debatable by this administration, who seem to care less than little about it's *citizens* in Puerto Rico.

      +Memo C You know they got some aid almost immediately,right? It hasn't been distributed because if screw ups on their end. Did you see their governor thanking the president for his speedy response? As we speak there is 9 ships in route and being that they're not magic ships,they don't get there in 1 day. Learn the truth,don't ignore it.

      You just copied and pasted this same comment from the previous hurricanes?

    • @sjohnschafer
      @sjohnschafer 7 лет назад

      I live in a hurricane zone. Every time one hits there are so many things that have to happen, especially on an island, such as dredging shipping channels and clearing ports of debris o huge ships can dock. There are thousands of containers sitting out there with relief and medical supplies that can't be offloaded. Ppl got frustrated that the government wasn't moving fast enough and started sending aid on private planes. The cargo had to be unloaded and stacked at the airport because they could not transport it out. The roads aren't clear, power lines are down, there are no heavy equipment to clear any of these things because they have been flooded and have run out of fuel. The aid sits on the tarmac because there are no trucks to transport it, or, once again, there is no fuel to run the trucks. If there are trucks with fuel, they need truck drivers, but they can't make a call for truck drivers because there is no communication, no cell reception in most places, no internet, no way to organize. So, if you don't live in an area where catastrophic events happen, you might not realize all that goes into it, but when you are impacted by these terrible storms, the victims always feel like nothing is being done because the aftermath is so devastating. But so much is being done feverishly behind the scenes.

    You protested till they closed Roosevelt Roads Naval Station. This left you without tons of equipment and supplies along with billions of dollars, employment and many other things that would have been tremendous help. All so they could sell Real Estate. Dont complain you did most of this to yourselves!!

      Good plan. Let's have these people work in the hot sun, under hazardous conditions, without clean water. Nothing works up a thirst like working outdoor, amirite? That'll really punch them in the gut. We could have them carrying in the dump trucks and heavy machinery needed to get rid of that stuff too, because certainly the roads are ruined. And certainly working around the remains of broken buildings isn't hazardous at all. What could go wrong? People be dying of thirst before they'd die to tetanus anyway...

      Because of the Jones Act build by the U.S. Many countries had the help and were ready to go but they couldn't. Luckily the Jones Act was stopped for 10 days. Many countries are helping at this point, until the Jones Act goes back in effect.

      @@valken666 Boy, what an extremely ignorant and uneducated comment. Puerto Rico is part of the United States and have been U.S. citizens for over 100 years. There are many videos of people helping each other and doing the best they can to survive. Let's see how well you do without food, water, shelter and high temperatures & humidity without much in your stomach. It's an island. Unlike Texas, where there are bordering states and federal government to quickly come to their aid. Maybe you educate yourself about the island and learn how they were invaded by the U.S. and drafted to go to wars since WWI and onward.

    The USA and Russia should consider shooting down the UN planes seeding the storms and setting fires. When will we join up and show that they are using storms earthquakes and fire to attack other countries? Talk about it and show and we all condemn it.

    I went to PR in 1980 and noticed it was a welfare sinkhole. 90% of the place must be collecting welfare by now. Those folks need to keep a couple weeks of supplies during hurricane season.

      I've been there a few times and it's nothing like you said. This 90% nonsense you came up with makes you sound like a bigoted, uneducated, backward hillbilly. By the way, last time I went to P.R. was just a few months ago, and it was beautiful. They worked hard to rebuild the island. Everything is back to normal. I'm planning to go again for the 5th time. I love the people, the food, and their culture.
