I greatly apricate the mistakes thrown into your video today. This business has its up and downs which can be very emotional at times. When viewers see constant highs from the videos we are watching it can throw us into a negative head space when we don't have that same success. As you travelled through the "mistakes" I thought about some of mine and that critical thinking helps me become a better seller. We learn from our successes and mistakes.... so are they really a mistake🤔
I agree! It’s important to have transparency in all areas. I’d like to see more resellers who have acquired a mass of inventory that didn’t sell, share the losses. I just let go of a too many items that didn’t sell/won’t sell because these items are no longer in demand. That hurt. I promised myself I would never do that to myself again. I’m very careful about what I pick up. Largely my investment is in the bins. Reselling has gotten tough. I’m not a trendy reseller. So pickings are tight.
Cayley, thank you so much for showing what took a long time to sell. I think we all have items like that, and I frequently scratch my head wondering why? Especially when it appears to have all the factors, pricing, and keywords in place. It really helps to know that others are experiencing this, too. Your shows are my number 1!
Thank you so much for including sales that were bad buys or sales that you had to reconfigure to update with keywords to show how those will sell! I really appreciate all the hard work you put into these videos. They are so helpful!
Thank you for showing some items that didn’t sell for as much as as you had hoped. It makes us newbies feel better when we have to mark some of our items lower to sell, too ❤
I would love to see a video on how you manage keeping track of old listings and how you drop prices. Thanks for another great video and I love seeing the “mistakes” as well! 😊
I found two sweaters yesterday that were hand knitted. I'm not sure of the material but they have a sewn in label from the lady that made them. Beautiful sweaters. Are they worth reselling? I can't seem to find any comps.
Did you know there are Barefoot Dreams knock offs? I found some at a Label Shopper retail department store. The fabric felt the same but there was misspellings on the inside tag and the spacing on the neck tab was off, but the font was correct.
Hello again Cayley dear, I have a question about inventory. Currently I have spent far less(COG already made back) than I have made, so all of the items in my store/deathpile are already paid off, should I list them cheaper just to make profit now or price them with market then discount like 30+%? Or would you go even further down on price to move them faster? If it helps my COG is $4.60 cents avg. Thanks a lot for another video :)
Hey! That really depends. If the items have great Sell through rates, then I'd price them at market. If they had poor str I'd price lower than market. As far as pricing low or pricing normally and then running a sale, I think they are both basically doing the same thing so I don't think it matters. A buyer may have a slightly higher incentive to purchase things running on a sale because it would give them the impression that it's a good deal.
My Poshmark sales were on the rise and then they made the abrupt change. I was still selling, but then they abruptly changed back to their original fee structure. Now my sales have sadly, plummeted. Ugh. I also sold on Kidizen for 4 years. Abruptly, they announced their closure. So my listings went over to Poshmark. I am stuck with so much inventory. I feel super discouraged as I have relied on 3 platforms for income. E-bay seems the only platform that is performing. And quite honestly, items don’t go for what they used to. Thrift stores are marking in-demand items so high it’s not worth it. Goodwill - in Chicago - it’s not even worth it to shop there. One would never find a Todd Snyder on the floor. I’m hoping Santa will bring me some encouragement! Sourcing has been really hard. I enjoy reselling, but it’s so unstable. Thanks for sharing Cayley.
I’m curious how others and you Cayley handle these situations… If you are listing a plus size brand that is generally marketed toward a more mature buyer BUT it has very trendy factors…. Do you go ahead and throw the keywords into a title (etc)? Im a bit hesitant because I fear it will scare off a potential buyer who does not know or care what witchy or whimsi is. I’d also hate to miss out on a factor sale as I understsnd it’s often very difficult for plus size girlies to find clothes that are on trend and can work for their body type. Case in point I had an awesome red and black satin and lace top from Land Bryant. Definite mature brand. I went ahead and put those keywords in and it finally sold but I’m not sure if they helped or hurt. ??? The buyers name did not give me a clue (lol) and I didn’t feel right saying “hey are you old or younger” lol j/k
I get what you're saying. I usually ask myself which buyer would be more likely to purchase the item and then apply keywords according to that buyer. In most cases with mature brands, I do not add a bunch of aesthetic keywords.
How on Poshmark is everyones first six months? Made only $50 first month, secind zero and this month $35 Not enough Im exhausted but continue to list new
@ I think it’s because I was used to paying $2 & $3 at the same place. It’s not run like a business. There’s no sign, no price tags, no register, no receipts, cash only, and the person behind the counter just makes up the price.

Just lessons ☺️

I almost never buy jeans even at $6 per pair. Like you said, it’s too over saturated and they’re an unreliable seller unless you’re niched to jeans.
I have to disagree. I sell a lot of jeans and am not niched into jeans. I pay on average $6-10 a pair. I am just picky about brands.
I sold a Sugar Street tapestry dog vest a few months ago for about $50 so I think it's a good vintage BOLO if your COG is low!
Great sale, I am work on a purge for the new year
My sales have been AWFUL on Poshmark. I even did a two week trial of promoting on Poshmark and it made it worse 😂 horrible sales over there

Hand knitted definitely adds value but without being able to see it or know any other factors I'm not sure.
Thank you. I watch you every day. I've gotten soooo much better about what I pick up and my sales are way better! Thankful for you!

I didn't know that.
thank you. learning so much from you!
Hi! Do you have a book keeping video by chance?
Not on RUclips, but on Reseller's Edge I have a video on exactly how I made my own spreadsheet and used it for bookeeping.
Do you think the bibs would have sold better under the keyword overalls? It’s probably not the most current term.
That's true! Probably so. I'll have to get with my lister about this.
@ just a thought. Thanks for the videos! Love your channel

@@cayleyelaine Ok thanks a lot for the input! Hope you have a great weekend :)
@zachbitango you too!
I don't know how can I know the total shipping cost
I'm not sure what you mean? For my sales??
So many brands I never heard of!

Reselling has been hard. Staying educated and on top of the trends has really helped me to stay afloat. It's a hustle for sure.

Ann Murray is the name of a popular singer back in the day.
Did you say that poshmark took off those stupid greedy buyer fees?
They reverted back to the 20%.

Sales vary based on what you list. What is the str of the items that you pick up?
Do you only send offers to buyers and not have accept offers turned on?
Correct. Until an item hits 90 days old, then I'll drop the price and add best offer.
I lol’d when you paused before you said Quacker Factory 😂Good Job 😅
🤣 Thankyou! I'm trying.
I've found argyle print takes a long time sell :/
Honestly, I have had decent Poshmark sales recently
That's awesome 💛
I’m mad that my thrift is charging $5 for jeans. I’m only getting them if they have a high resale now.
Hmmm our thrift charges $14.99.
I wouldn’t buy at that price unless the jeans retail for more than $300
But I wouldn’t be mad if they charged $5
@ I think it’s because I was used to paying $2 & $3 at the same place. It’s not run like a business. There’s no sign, no price tags, no register, no receipts, cash only, and the person behind the counter just makes up the price.
Yea our thrift is anywhere from $8-30 per jeans, most around $15ish
Number one is ebay, and right after that is depop!! Id suggest cross posting there over poshmark any day :)
Let's goooo 😃🤑😃
