    Good job! That's what a Radias can do. It sounds modern and up-to-date but you still hear the special character of this machine here and there.

    • @MIDERA
      @MIDERA  3 года назад +3

      Indeed - I agree. Sometimes the 'character' is grating to me, but it's still a pretty special synth!

    Radias is one of the coolest looking synths... and it seems to sound as it looks also 🤟🤟
    Great playing 👍

      I need to fix mine. The alpha knob is messed up. It is an interesting synth. How cool it would have been if it had a really nice piano sound in it. But it’s a really cool synth honestly.

    • @javiceres
      @javiceres Год назад

      I always think I would buy one for the form factor (and hence looks) alone.
      Toying with the idea I found in the manual it has a “hidden” Punch parameter in the Mixer section and differet Drive curves to be used pre or post filter... and since you can run the two filters in series that sounds like real fun and probably a lot of possible nuances at the programmers disposal.

    Picking mine up tomorrow :) Ive been waiting almost two years to find one - that isnt being sent from Japan. $850.00 seems like an ok price for "excellent condition". Fingers crossed that its in good working order. always a concern that something will go haywire on older synths.

    • @MIDERA
      @MIDERA  2 года назад +1

      Nice! Does it include the keyboard?
      My Radias has a funky alpha encoder. It’s annoying.

    • @GrootsieTheDog
      @GrootsieTheDog 2 года назад +1

      @@MIDERA Did not include keyboard. I talked him down from 950 to 800 :) Could you check on something for me when you get a chance? Everything is working great and the cutoff freq knobs seem to have little wear (always a good barometer for usage) but my only concern is that the adapter gets a little warm. Also, the back panel where the adapter goes into radius gets a little warm as well - just a little. Have you noticed any warmth? The adapter gets warmer than the radius for sure - only lightly warm on the radius. Question: Does your adapter get warm when plugged into the wall (even without powering up the radius)? Also, how many amps does your after have? 3A (3000ma) or 6000ma? I would really appreciate the feedback. Thx!

    • @MIDERA
      @MIDERA  2 года назад

      @@GrootsieTheDog will test and get back to you. Make sure your adapter is the right voltage for your country. Japan sometimes uses 100V instead of 120V for US. But I recall them getting warm. I’ll let you know after testing! Unit being warm makes sense too.

    • @GrootsieTheDog
      @GrootsieTheDog 2 года назад

      @@MIDERA Did you ever test to see if your Radias ges slightly warmer by the rear panel and a little on the LCD screen? Its barely warmer but I do notice a rise in temperature. Everything else works great. Really enjoying the synth. A synth technician and radias user said it's normal but would like to get confirmation. Thanks! :)

    • @MIDERA
      @MIDERA  2 года назад +1

      @@GrootsieTheDog It's sitting on its side in the back of my studio so it's hard to get to. I can check it out later although I have the same PSU for my ESX and that gets pretty hot. So does the ESX. I think it's totally normal.
      Even my Prophet 10 gets hot. Some of my synths have huge heat sinks on the back because they warm up.

    Un GRAND oui !
    Really a very nice song with a beautiful and magical sound environment !
    I discovered the Korg Radias that I thought was younger, but I was wrong since it was released in 2006...
    Fan of Korg sounds from the 80/90's ( le GRAND M1 par exemple) I'm pleasantly surprised by the sonic dimension of this Radias.
    Thank you for sharing. : )
    Is it a Roland Systeme 1 or 8 higher near the cymbales (the beautiful green diodes)?

    • @MIDERA
      @MIDERA  3 года назад +2

    I'm 5 minutes in and all I can say is "Awesome." Definitely keeping it then?
    It's hard to choose what to let go of when replacing gear. The whole point why we bought what we have is because it has a quality that we desire. That desire may wain for a while if we don't use it regularly but as soon as we pick it back up again it hits home. Getting a real Rhodes piano is definitely worth getting but with such an amazing array of instruments I would be hard pressed to figure out what to part with to get it. I'd probably have to charm my bank manageress, lol

    • @MIDERA
      @MIDERA  3 года назад +1

      Hehe, thankfully I have the funds to buy it. And yeah, that’s precisely it. I actually normally find the Radias to have a very mid range annoying tone to it, but it can sound good if a lot of work is put in. It’s not an immediately satisfying synth, but when I play it I get some great sounds.

    • @RoomAtTheTopStudio
      @RoomAtTheTopStudio 3 года назад +1

      @@MIDERA Some of the best synths aren't immediately satisfying. Some take time to learn and get out of them the potential they truly have. That said I do love an immediately satisfying synth, lol.
      How's the SK30? I think it will combine with some of your other synths perfectly. It's going to sound glorious with a Rhodes piano. I've recently returned to my studio so I've done a few things with mine. I've tuned the organ in to almost sound like my Hammond. I'm going to have to do a video comparison of both organs properly.

    • @MIDERA
      @MIDERA  3 года назад +1

      @@RoomAtTheTopStudio SK30 is great - still. I switch around what I play a lot - I think it's fun to change directions and just keep exploring what I enjoy. I've decided there's just no shame in that. I felt a lot of shame for having a lot of gear, and felt that I couldn't spend money on new things... not without selling things, but I think... well, it's ok to spend new money, not from selling things on gear. My wife throws down $1000 on a new iPhone without skipping a beat (this is not a judgement) - so, I think it's ok if I throw down double that on a beautiful Rhodes (I did actually sell $1100 worth of gear towards it so I'm really only spending about the same as I'd spend on an iPhone). As long as I am enjoying my gear - and making music I like, I think it's ok. I need to accept that. It's just part of the process, the exploration. Some gear does not at all speak to me - that gear is sold. It's good to sell things I dislike. It's ok to keep gear I do like, even if it remains unused for a time.
      That would be great to hear the organ and the Hammond - although I am not much into the sound of organs per se. They're really not my thing. I like to use the SK30 organ for sine-wave tones only! But I'd love to hear that comparison!

    Love this. One of your old Radias videos had a huge impact on my decision to buy a Radias. Ever considered making a patch pack?

    • @MIDERA
      @MIDERA  3 года назад +2

      Thanks!
      I have considered this. I don't know how many patches a 'pack' would include. I have asked people how much they think I should sell it for... but normally that's the point at which they drop out of the conversation. I wouldn't know where to host the packs, etc. When I reached out to someone who sells packs about how to do XYZ, I think they were annoyed by my asking and it soured my opinion of them. Of course, I can see how they might find it as competition, but hey, if you make good sound packs - why would competition bother you?

    I have a question about the Korg Radias. I'm thinking of getting a laptop or a PC to connect to MIDI but which version of Windows does the Radias prefer to run on for up loading sounds samples to the Radias sound bank as well as using Korg's own midi software ? I also have Presonus studio 2|6 midi package at the ready
