Or sell my car as is to the right buyer and save for a rwd CTS-V or something.

One slightly and I mean SLIGHTLY leaking turbo seal isn’t going to make this car go from great to incredibly boring. That is the only slight mechanical fault with the car. The car still made normal boost levels and everything
You say it sounds terrible. Well that is all up to interpretation, people like different sounds. Don’t get me wrong the sound of a cammed out v8 is amazing and nothing beats it. But I have heard a bunch of really amazing sounding GTRs. I feel you need to drive a newer updated one. Maybe one who the owner has taken pride in ownership and actually cared for the car, not a clapped out pile that you bought. Love the videos man, and everybody has their opinion on things. But I personally do feel that you need to experience one that is owned by a GT-R enthusiast.
@@CarsAcrossTexas Well considering a GTR was made for power and to handle well on a road course I think it does it's job. You say that is boring but the damn thing does not feel like it wants to kill me nor a crowd like a mustang or Vette does. You want to talk about boring how about the fact that a Mustang and Vette are so common that even a GT500 from a distant looks like just a mustang. And those cars mostly focus on power but not the handling aspect. Even in the Old Top Gear review when the GT500 first came back they paired it up against a Roush and the Roush with less power was faster on their track because Roush worked on the handling more! Plus your GTR is so dirty looking on the outside. I will admit they needed to upgrade the transmissions on all you talked about. They have hardly done anything to make the transmission better in those ways and only dealt with the issues of it breaking the like transfer case in the CBA models. But considering this car can outperform super cars on a road course it is a fantastic car that is not boring. But if you just want to go fast in a straight line then there is your boring aspect! Yes parts can cost to mod this car but it not at the super car price tag, but not at the American muscle car price to mod either. It is in between where it should be.
I mean pretty much everyone who has owned at 17'+ plate gtr has said it's much better than the previous gen. I never really get why people complain about older model cars when there are newer/better versions out already. Let's not forget the gtr came out in like 2008, and up until 2015 had a few changed here and there but the model you have is basically based on the 08' model.
I was looking at a GTR, test drove it and didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. Decided on getting a 2018 bmw m4 comp with only 10k miles, fully packaged out too

American muscle gives the full experience 💪🏼 also the gtr would be enjoyable if it was over 1,000whp and hooking up on the street taking money 😂😂 but that’s a tough road to commit to especially when you’re over the car so soon and I heard it’s a bit more expensive and exclusive to mod I guess you said it all haha it’s not worth the money for where it’s going to sit at for a while

I agree 100% with you. Having driven lots of different cars on track (one with turns and stuff), the GTR was by far the most boring car on a road course. I can see going fast straight being fun, but I prefer g forces in turns while working around other cars on the track. Going fast straight doesn't do anything for me anymore. So yea, just my 2 cents.
You bought a gtr expecting all that when you could upgrade it yourself to give yourself all those perks. Itsjusta6 gtr is a prime example of what a gtr can be like in the right hands

This is why I'm into muscle, you can get just about anything you want for cheap and have it reliably. There's just so much you can do to a vette for cheap compared to tuners.

I had a GT-R poster on my wall for 6 years. Test drove one and absolutely hated how boring it was. Ended up buying a C7 Z07 manual. I’ve had it for 2 years of daily driving and I adore it. Also smoked a GT-R on the highway yesterday while I had the targa top in the trunk haha! By the way, I felt the same way about the C8 too. Boring, gutless little thing and I spent 3 hours with one

When you buy a GTR you don’t pay for build quality or speed (though they are relatively quick), you pay for a name. That’s literally it. It’s like going to Walmart and buying the name brand stuff because it’s “better” than the Great Value (Walmart brand) stuff. When in reality it’s not, you’re simply paying for a name. Love the R35, but would never own one.

I want you to get a CTS-V but I understand you already have that insane Corvette. Also I kinda don’t want you to buy one because I’m considering one and don’t need the price to sky rocket due to more hype lol. CTS-V’s are one of my favorite and very slept on I feel like. No popular RUclipsrs have one as far as I know.
I’m debating between a Supra and a GTR for my next car. After I build my wrx, it’ll be a hard decision. To me, riding in a stock GTR was the fastest car I’ve been in and I thought it felt like a rocket ship.

Yeah they're two different cars man the ZO6 is more Hands-On driver-focused due to the manual transmission and the GTR is more of a gimme power and I'll show you how I can handle it in all wheel drive
I can say I agree with you in some ways. I love the gtr and still want one but I have ridden in a 700hp gtr built by jotech and I’ve also driven a stock c7 zo6. After I drove the zo6 I can say I would take that over a gtr in the long run. Both great cars in my opinion but for the money, z06 is the way to go

Dual clutch is horrible in any car. Not really sure why you would expect a transmission to operate shifting in the way that a manual would. They are designed to be a hybrid, not efficient. Over engineered and worthless concept.
Gtr fan boy here, only because I own one lol. If you plan on modding the car past fbo/e85 the price jump from cba to dba isn’t worth it. Get a cba and mod the heck out of it and see why it wins events. Another point is you don’t need an awd dyno. Just remove the front driveshaft to dyno. If your goal is to just roll race you can make 800hp/650tq on a stock motor/trans.
I have to agree. Aside from the price of upgrades, the cheap materials, or even the transmission. The biggest negative to the R35 is that it's boring plain vanilla styling. Honestly I think you'd be more inclined to throw that kind of money for upgrades at an R32 or R33. Those had soul, and distinctive styling. Nissan made a major error with development of the R35, and honestly as much as go fast parts make a rowdy boy car it's not the only thing; there's gotta be style and soul to it also. That's why Hellcats, Corvettes, and Camaros have made for such a large amount of the mid level racers. They all have style and soul to them. Manufacturers listen up! If you're going to make a factory race build pay attention to styling too don't make Nissan's mistake.
when you were building up the hype of you getting this car, i was extremely happy for you because you seemed excited. But truth be told, i was thinking he could have gotten something waaaaaaaayyy better. The GTR to me is an overhyped car that looks like a 350z in the front, skyline in the back made in the cheapest way. like you said, this car lacks soul and i think the reason is because of the cheap mashup and playing on a "nostalgia" (which they missed the mark) for the R34.

Secondly, you can keep on building that vette and it will never be able to beat a fully built GTR no matter what you throw at it. Lastly, your 2014 is 7 years old, yes 7, I’d expected a clapped out 7 year old gtr to have the grill bubbling up like that, as for the panel gaps, I’m sure the wrap guys removed the panel and didn’t reinstall it properly. A car being 7 years old shouldn’t make it a slow POS. I had a 2010 C6 Z06 way back in the day and bone stock that was a more exciting car to drive that kept up with the same damn cars walking the GTR in the video. My C7 when stock might’ve made 550whp and was still a more exciting drive. The previous owner had the dyno graphs from the car and video to match saying this car was 650hp. If I wanted to I could’ve made this car 1200hp. Guess what? It’d still be the most boring 1200hp on the planet. I’d rather save my money from modding a POS import and get a Viper lmao. And that’s crazy too, my 10 year old C6 when I had it didn’t have any sort of bubbling grille or misaligned panels? Hm. I thought cars that were old we’re going to have problems like that???

Your car had no reason to get gapped by any of those cars you listed if they were truly stock or lightly modded, I have had plenty of runs with the cars you’ve ran, and never got gapped the way you did on fbo. Maybe you did buy a clapped out GTR, maybe your tune was bad, so many factors. You mentioned in your video that if you were to build you’d go to a shep 1k or 1.5k , then said that would be a good upgrade for a 1k whp that just shows you were clueless about the platform. At the end of the day, it’s still a Nissan. I bought a 2009 370z and have regretted it since. Love the look of the cars, love how Z’s look, love how the GT-R’s look, but they’re still just Nissans. Kinda sucks that such nice looking cars are built kinda cheap but I guess if they were built like super cars, they would be worth as much as super cars and not have the hype they have for being ‘affordable super cars’.
I agree. Local buddy to me has a 2k+hp gtr and goes to 2k every year. It’s fast as hell but still just meh. It’s boring even for it being ungodly fast. Not to mention mods cost. Insane. I’ll gladly still to a 6th gen zl1 1le, c6 zr1 or c7z for that price range

You say it sounds terrible. Well that is all up to interpretation, people like different sounds. Don’t get me wrong the sound of a cammed out v8 is amazing and nothing beats it. But I have heard a bunch of really amazing sounding GTRs. I feel you need to drive a newer updated one. Maybe one who the owner has taken pride in ownership and actually cared for the car, not a clapped out pile that you bought. Love the videos man, and everybody has their opinion on things. But I personally do feel that you need to experience one that is owned by a GT-R enthusiast.

You say that is boring but the damn thing does not feel like it wants to kill me nor a crowd like a mustang or Vette does. You want to talk about boring how about the fact that a Mustang and Vette are so common that even a GT500 from a distant looks like just a mustang. And those cars mostly focus on power but not the handling aspect. Even in the Old Top Gear review when the GT500 first came back they paired it up against a Roush and the Roush with less power was faster on their track because Roush worked on the handling more! Plus your GTR is so dirty looking on the outside. I will admit they needed to upgrade the transmissions on all you talked about. They have hardly done anything to make the transmission better in those ways and only dealt with the issues of it breaking the like transfer case in the CBA models. But considering this car can outperform super cars on a road course it is a fantastic car that is not boring. But if you just want to go fast in a straight line then there is your boring aspect! Yes parts can cost to mod this car but it not at the super car price tag, but not at the American muscle car price to mod either. It is in between where it should be.
I mean pretty much everyone who has owned at 17'+ plate gtr has said it's much better than the previous gen. I never really get why people complain about older model cars when there are newer/better versions out already. Let's not forget the gtr came out in like 2008, and up until 2015 had a few changed here and there but the model you have is basically based on the 08' model.

I agree 100% with you. Having driven lots of different cars on track (one with turns and stuff), the GTR was by far the most boring car on a road course. I can see going fast straight being fun, but I prefer g forces in turns while working around other cars on the track. Going fast straight doesn't do anything for me anymore. So yea, just my 2 cents.

Also smoked a GT-R on the highway yesterday while I had the targa top in the trunk haha! By the way, I felt the same way about the C8 too. Boring, gutless little thing and I spent 3 hours with one

When you buy a GTR you don’t pay for build quality or speed (though they are relatively quick), you pay for a name. That’s literally it. It’s like going to Walmart and buying the name brand stuff because it’s “better” than the Great Value (Walmart brand) stuff. When in reality it’s not, you’re simply paying for a name. I can say I agree with you in some ways. I love the gtr and still want one but I have ridden in a 700hp gtr built by jotech and I’ve also driven a stock c7 zo6. After I drove the zo6 I can say I would take that over a gtr in the long run. Both great cars in my opinion but for the money, z06 is the way to go

Dual clutch is horrible in any car. Not really sure why you would expect a transmission to operate shifting in the way that a manual would. They are designed to be a hybrid, not efficient. Over engineered and worthless concept.
Gtr fan boy here, only because I own one lol. If you plan on modding the car past fbo/e85 the price jump from cba to dba isn’t worth it. Get a cba and mod the heck out of it and see why it wins events. Another point is you don’t need an awd dyno. Just remove the front driveshaft to dyno. If your goal is to just roll race you can make 800hp/650tq on a stock motor/trans.
My c7 z06 steering wheel wobbles too. Suspensions and transmission broke at almost brand new. That’s why I went back to German cars.
I have to agree. Aside from the price of upgrades, the cheap materials, or even the transmission. The biggest negative to the R35 is that it's boring plain vanilla styling. Honestly I think you'd be more inclined to throw that kind of money for upgrades at an R32 or R33. Those had soul, and distinctive styling. Nissan made a major error with development of the R35, and honestly as much as go fast parts make a rowdy boy car it's not the only thing; there's gotta be style and soul to it also. That's why Hellcats, Corvettes, and Camaros have made for such a large amount of the mid level racers. They all have style and soul to them. Manufacturers listen up! If you're going to make a factory race build pay attention to styling too don't make Nissan's mistake.

But truth be told, i was thinking he could have gotten something waaaaaaaayyy better. A car being 7 years old shouldn’t make it a slow POS. I had a 2010 C6 Z06 way back in the day and bone stock that was a more exciting car to drive that kept up with the same damn cars walking the GTR in the video. My C7 when stock might’ve made 550whp and was still a more exciting drive. The previous owner had the dyno graphs from the car and video to match saying this car was 650hp. If I wanted to I could’ve made this car 1200hp. Guess what? It’d still be the most boring 1200hp on the planet. I’d rather save my money from modding a POS import and get a Viper lmao. And that’s crazy too, my 10 year old C6 when I had it didn’t have any sort of bubbling grille or misaligned panels? Hm. I thought cars that were old we’re going to have problems like that???

Your car had no reason to get gapped by any of those cars you listed if they were truly stock or lightly modded, I have had plenty of runs with the cars you’ve ran, and never got gapped the way you did on fbo. Maybe you did buy a clapped out GTR, maybe your tune was bad, so many factors. You mentioned in your video that if you were to build you’d go to a shep 1k or 1.5k , then said that would be a good upgrade for a 1k whp that just shows you were clueless about the platform.

At the end of the day, it’s still a Nissan. I bought a 2009 370z and have regretted it since. Love the look of the cars, love how Z’s look, love how the GT-R’s look, but they’re still just Nissans. Kinda sucks that such nice looking cars are built kinda cheap but I guess if they were built like super cars, they would be worth as much as super cars and not have the hype they have for being ‘affordable super cars’.

I agree. Local buddy to me has a 2k+hp gtr and goes to 2k every year. It’s fast as hell but still just meh. It’s boring even for it being ungodly fast. Not to mention mods cost. Insane. I’ll gladly still to a 6th gen zl1 1le, c6 zr1 or c7z for that price range

That noisy transmission might be prone to breaking down! Heard Nissan’s regular CVT trannies run into a lotta issues as well!
