      When it comes to the feud between Victoria Jackson & the rest of the cast, I can understand why the cast didn’t like her. I think the main reason why the rest of the cast had a hard time with Jackson because they probably saw her as a walking contradiction. I don’t think it had to do with her faith, but more to do with trying to bring them to Christ and yet participating in sketches and playing roles that contradicted her beliefs.
      Most Christian entertainers like the actor who played Jesus on Passion of the Christ or Beau Bridges would turn down opportunities or modify them so they wouldn’t compromise their faith. Plus, some of her choices of apparel (fishnet stockings, strapless dresses, etc.) would probably offended some Christians.

      Now it's Bill Hader that cant keep it together. None of the SNL cast has bothered to learn their lines since the turn of the century, and it brings the whole show down.
      Of the new stuff I liked the sketches with two annoying ass employees quitting a retail job- the one called That's The Game, and the one where Kennan Thompson started out tellin kids not to do cocaine but then learns about crack and wants to smoke it.
      That's it. I've watched hours and hours of the show and I just dont think Bill and Fred have even the slightest bit of funny in them.

    Says a lot about Chris Kattan that he's on 3 times. But more could have been said about Chase, as his behavior has gotten him booted from hosting the show. I always did think Eddie's grudge against David Spade was a bit much -- Spade's character on the Hollywood Minute was a smarmy jerk, a goof on news reporters who get an attitude that isn't really deserved and then rip on people more famous than them. (For example, I remember a reporter having that same kind of attitude when Sam Kinison died, with her having an attitude while reporting it, being smug about the fact that Kinison was killed by a drunk driver after Sam having substance abuse issues.) It seems like Eddie wasn't watching and just saw that clip -- either that or he has no sense of humor when it comes to himself. Also, how about Norm MacDonald vs. NBC that led to him getting kicked off the Weekend Update segment for continuing to talk about OJ?

      Eddie had a pretty understandable beef, I think. He really was the sole reason that show wasn't cancelled in the early 80s, and he was largely responsible for its resurgence. For SNL to allow that joke to air was a slap in the face to him. He had had a string of less-than-successful movies and for them to kick him when he was down genuinely hurt him. I don't think that's too selfish, personally.

    • @mightybk
      @mightybk 2 года назад +2

      @@christco120 I started watching the show when he was on, and yes, he was the best thing on the show by far. But he could still have a sense of humor about it. He hadn't been on since the one time hosting the season after he left. He was just overly sensitive because he wasn't putting out his best work at that point.

    Good list. Some some like stretches. But some of the other feuds, they could have mentioned, may not have featured "stars", at least stars on the show. Chevy Chase had a feud with the entire "not ready for Prime Time players" not just Bill Murray, who was his direct replacement. They all joined the cast hoping to be featured players. Well it was Chevy who broke out as the star. Being the face of the Gerald Ford cold opens in which he would inevitably tumble across the set or the first Weekend Update, which he hosted solo, Chevy Chase became a star. That wasn't expected, at least in John Belushi's mind. He thought he was the star. The cold open when Chevy came back to host even satirizes the behind the scenes drama.
    There were other feuds that deserve honorable mention. The 85 cast, Lorne's first season back, was full of cast member grievances. I could list them but since Lorne replaced nearly the entire cast the following season, it would be quicker to mention who he retained, Jon Lovitz and Dennis Miller. There are numerous behind the scenes dramas between NBC and the show, but that is not the point of this list. That could be a list of it's own. Norm vs. Don Ohlmeyer, Jean Doumanian vs. everyone, Lorne vs. NBC exec's in the 70's, Al Franken vs. Fred Silverman, etc.
