At fourteen, Azula was one of the most powerful firebenders in the world, had an entire army at her command, took the most powerful Earth Kingdom city, became the Earth Queen, was the only female Fire Lord in the show (even if it was only for a few hours), came closer than anyone to killing the Avatar/breaking the Avatar cycle, and had a complete mental breakdown after she was beaten in a fight she was certain she would win. As tragic as her arc was, you can't deny that she's one of the best written characters ever.
She was one of the weakest firebender. Of course she's more powerfull than Zhao and Ozai, but she wouldn't have any chance against Zuko and Iroh. I also love her blue fire, but this woudn't mean that she's the strongest firebender ever. Else, if you mean as a teenager, then yes of course.
Maaaan, this theme fits her so well! omg- And not only does it fit her because she's cold and calculating, but it's clear something is off about her... mentally off.

Something is wrong about this.... I've never once was afraid of a antagonist.... But hearing this and seeing Azula have given me chills everytime I see her and hear her theme.
There's a few reasons I can probably distinguish. One reason based on you saying "hearing" this and seeing her, Jeremy Zuckerman was very smart with his instrumentation. Besides the big fire nation motif at the start, it's mostly quiet gamelan bells playing over a quiet chorus. Gamelan bells are tuned slightly apart from each other, which sounds normal in their native Indonesia, but to Western ears can sound unnerving and "alien" because we're used to sounds tuned to Equal temperament tuning. So by adding the gamelan bells as her signature instrument, you immediately get an unnerving feel whenever she's onscreen the other is seeing her shadowy face in front of blue fire with that slightly unhinged look is also pretty creepy

Ozai is the way he is because of what Sozin did, and thus the reason Zuko is set on his path and Azula set on hers. The whole war is because of Sozin. Ozai more or less was the bullet to Sozin's gun
You can't bend lightning, it's just a release of energy. Uncle Iroh literally says: "Once you seperate the energy, you do not command it". Lightning generation would be the correct term, not lightningbending.

Ugh I remember been a kid watching this series and just hearing azulas theme I automatically knew “Oh no she’s here”. Her character will go down as one of the most scariest villains and she was only 14!!. Not even the fire lord made me and anxious and nervous as she did.
I love how the music sounds creepy, but then you notice how depressing it really sounds. Expresses how tragic Azula's character is despite being a highly skilled villain.
I'm watching this video in my room with the lights turned off, alone and with any other sound. The disapointed glare of Azula surrounded by dancing blue flames is quite scary and fascinating at the same time, quite hipnotic.
I think Azula needs more comics about herself, because she's a prodigy and the descendant of Roku + Sozin. Maybe that could be made into an interesting stories or battles.

If you guys remember in Zuko Alone episode, her fire was still red and her mother was still there, after her mother left, her fire becomes blue. My opinion is, her fire turns blue not because she's a prodigy but because she feels lonely without her mother in her side. Blue is the color of calm, loneliness and sensitive. She can be calm but she also can be sensitive when something doesn't go on her way like when she got told her hair out of place when practicing or when she got told by Ozai to stay in Fire Nation. If you look in the last 3 episodes, her fires are unstable because of her unstable personality and she becomes very lonely since her mother left. She knows she misses her mother but she covered it with hatred and fear.

As a psychologist I always sympathized with Azula. I don’t think she’s a had person in essence- she has always had this yearning for approval from her father. Which is why she disliked Zuko from a young age and noticed that she wasn’t going to get anything useful from the relationship with her mother. She always had her eyes on the prize- whatever the stakes were. It’s sad, really.
