This is my Zombicide - I have way more than I need of this game and I keep getting more whenever they release new stuff. I mostly play this solo, my love for the Power Rangers IP is strong 😅. Currently waiting on Time Force to hit retail lol (and for Renegade to finally make a Lightspeed Rescue box)
I own everything for this game and I’m all in for all future content to my wife’s dismay 😆. This game is a staple at our table and even though I haven’t seen all the seasons yet I just enjoy variability. There will be a new expansion Kickstarter soon to help ship to places Renegade doesn’t normally ship to so anyone curious I recommend checking that out. For anyone who doesn’t want everything you can get the Kickstarter box which adds a lot of variability and is more bang for your buck. That alone would give you more bosses, monsters, and 2 more footsoldiers for variability while you decide what expansions you would want.
I will say if you flip the boards over it males movement a much bigger issue. Some of the places give you a bonus and some add more challenges. My favorite things about this game, are the expansions. How each new team works so well together and plays off each other and how the monster/boss packs are all so unique and challenging.
My friends and I love this game. We all have nostalgia for power rangers, the game is simple to table and teach but has tons of depth and variety. The only issue we really have with it is spontaneously dying because of a couple bad card draws, so sometimes we adjust that rule a little.
Alex dismissing the minion battles and Zords off-hand is a bit off-putting to anyone wanting to get into this game. The minion battles are very thematic to the IP, which can yield Zord cards quickly if you know which Rangers need to battle together and which can battle solo. I recommend that anyone looking to get this game wait until June, when the next KS will happen. That way, you can get the base game with the KS Deluxe box which increases your gameplay options way better than any other expansions will for the price.
@BoardGameCo I'm so happy you reviewed this game. Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid is one of my top favorite board games. The mechanisms and play style are so thematic to the IP that it creates a really immersive experience. I'd be really interested to see a playthrough video. To anyone looking to buy the game, but are daunted by the sheer amount of content, start with the Mighty Morphin era content. You can get the base game along with the Kickstarter Exclusive Deluxe Box during Renegade's next KS campaign, which should be in June. You'll get all the variety you need at the best value for your dollar. However, if you're looking to simply go the retail route, you can get the base game plus Villain Pack #1 and Legendary Ranger: Tommy Olliver Pack. I would also recommend getting the Villain Pack #3: Legacy of Evil expansion at retail as well, but the previous two will provide enough variety.
I'm glad I missed when this game launched because if I had got in on the first KS I would probably own everything. Now there is so much and it is so expensive, it is much easier to resist. And someone local has it so I get to play it from time to time.
Alex, I'm so glad you finally reviewed this. This is the game they introduced me into the hobby. As much as I've played it though, I've never finished it in under 2 and a half hours.
@@BoardGameCo Nah. My group and I are veterans at this game since we've been playing it since the start. We win more than we lose at this point, but it still takes us at least 2.5 hours to finish a game.
I love this game. I own most of it, only missing a few on the enemy packs. A compatible G.I.Joe is on KS right now and its going to be fun mixing them together.
I want this game so bad, but with how much is out I'm planning on just grabbing gijoe and seeing how I enjoy that first. If I enjoy gijoe as much as I think I will, I'll slowly over the years pick up the entirety of power rangers. I figure I'm not tempted on expansions for gijoe i.p. As I am with the power rangers Ip. I'd buy pr, and keep buying regardless of enjoying it because I'm sentimental towards the ip and want everything already. Gijoe expansions are generally easy passes for me
The GI JOE game is slightly different from the Power Rangers game, but both are cross play compatible and there are special rules for amalgamating the two games' play differences cohesively.
I liked MMPR/Super Sentai for the Zords. And, if I wanted a board game based on a Tokusatsu, I’d probably be more interested in a Kamen Rider game. Still, if I was more enthralled, I’d probably be interested. Conversely, my bank account is sweating about the idea of Renegade doing something similar with the Transformers license, but, thankfully, they’ve just got a card game that doesn’t do much for me and a RPG rule book, which does have my eye.
Don't count out a Transformers version. The Kickstarter for the GI JOE game alludes to more Guardian games being on the way beyond Power Rangers and GI JOE.
@@josephjones7828 Oh, I’m definitely not counting it out, since Renegade definitely has some licensing agreement with Hasbro and Transformers, specifically as well, and, indeed, that forthcoming GI Joe board game does make me reasonable optimistic.
Funny I just saw you had this in your last live stream. I’m a pretty big fan of this game and there is a bit of nostalgia for me. I generally play more solo with two player combined decks. I agree with a lot of your opinions on the card system (awesome) the miniatures (I don’t need them) and the expansion content. I don’t want it all but the base game wouldn’t do it for me alone. You’ll have more fun if/when you get into that bigger KS box.
@@TIVIS014 I have once, it might just take a little time to get used to after playing the two player variant. I need to try it again and I did just get Ally Pack 2 in so more of a reason to go again.
@@TIVIS014 oh damn I haven't played with those rules, I'll definitely have to check it out. I've been playing two handed with 4 rangers (2 player rules).
@@kumanight it was released in their free scenarios on the website to save ya time tying to find it. They even made a story variant around the Shadow Ranger based on his one shot comic and co-designed by the writer of that comic as well.
I think the comparison to Marvel United is somewhat inevitable even if they're in fact very different games, due to the circular form of the board, the way heroes and baddies are represented on the board, etc.; Marvel United was about the right 'weight' for me, so if you're saying the very different mechanics here make it a heavier weight game... well, Marvel United is then the better weight for me, the better theme for me, the better core mechanic for me (I prefer cards to dice), and I already all-in'ed it... so, there's still a comparison worth making there I think, 'circular map with your team fighting bad dudes in a major pop culture IP' can still be a meaningful board game category lol
I was disappointed the new GI Joe game is based off this design. It's not really appealing to me. GI Joe needs a competitive game of Joe vs Cobra in the lines of Star Wars Rebellion and War of the Rings.

Did you at least get the Titanium Ranger? He came in the 2nd Allies Pack. He's the ultimate Tank!

Same here. But now I'm also getting into Zombicide too...

Renegade games releases monthly scenarios, and there is a solo mode available, where you control three rangers.

Well knock on wood it’s June. I really hope the logistics problem doesn’t delay it again 😞
Here's hoping the shipping isn't ridiculous for the new campaign.
