Ben Macdui - Cairngorms: The 2nd highest mountain of Scotland, Family hike in snow.

My 4th climb of Ben Macdui, this time with my 10 years old daughter Cheyenne and my wonderful wife. We started late because of the weather forecast and good visibility for late afternoon so we did not add Cairn Gorm, which we did in 2021. This time route was straight and retraced return: 17.3 km with 767m of ascent.
First time I did Ben Macdui in October 2014 as a big day out incl. another 4 Munros. My route was Ben Macdui - The Devil's Point - Cairn Toul - Sgor an Lochain Uaine - Braeriach: 35km, 13h, ascent of 2 323m in a very strong and cold wind and pathless connection between Ben macdui and The Devil's Point and then between the path from Braeriach and Ski Centre car park...

@Mountains Passion Petr Dakota is it a easy route? I want to do it this year. That and Cairngorm

​@@MyScottishAdventures The route is quite easy, we did it with Cairn Gorm when Cheyenne was 8 y.o. Just be ready for cold wind mostly there in the Cairngorms plateau and longer distances to walk. It will be very ok to do the route together with Cairn Gorm only. Firtst time I did Ben Macdui together with The Braeriach traverze - the 4 Munros on the other side of Lairig Ghru which it self only is longish route. I started from Ski Centre, did Ben Macdui 1st, then descended pathless from Ben Macdui to connect the other side - ascent to The Devil's Point and continued on the tops to Cairn Toul, Sgor an Lochain Uaine and Braerich, then used partly the route to Sugar Bowl car park, but turned out and continued pathless towards Ski Centre...It was over 35km, 13h and 2 323m of ascent in strong cold wind and short October's daylight. When I did Ben Macdui with Cairn Gorm only it took me 5.2 hours, 18.7 km ascent of 945m only. Other time I did Ben Macdui with Beinn Mheadhoin and cairn Gorm via Loch Avon = 25km, 10h and ascent of 1779m.
