- Been very happy with this little camper and thought I'd make a video since there aren't too many reviews of the basic models.
This is a simple, but well-made, bed on wheels.
Nice aphex twin sticker 👍
Thanks for the review!
Good catch! He's been a hero of mine since the early 90s.
Think I just found my mini camper...Looks like an affordable version of the Mission Overland. 😎👌
all l need is a basic, keep it simple, very nice
Thank you for the info.
Thank you for showing the basic model!
Hard to go wrong with the bare minimum. Not much to need repair which is key for those of us on a budget.
I'm pricing a Hiker out...bare bones BUT
..I liked the comments, questions and replies! Really appreciate your video! And it's apparently Puppy Approved!
I have been looking at this basic model. I do not want to tent camp any more! I know this was a price thing for you, but, would you have included the back galley if you could or are you satisfied with not having that? Where/how do you cook? Also, I found your 'bare-bones' video very helpful.
Thanks Tracey. The galley would have added like $1500 to the price. I absolutely would have liked to have it. Partially for cooking but also to have access to stuff I stored inside without climbing over the bedding. Without it, I cooked on a folding propane grill that I set up each time.
On your trips from east to west how was your mpg affected on the Crosstrek? Thanks for sharing.
I had the 6MT so normally averaged 30-32 MPG. When towing the Hiker it was more like 18-20. Not too bad really.
Very cool! I have the Extreme Off-road from Hiker. Thanks for the video.
We have a HD 5x8 to pick-up soon in CO. Good to hear a positive 1 year review. Looks like Ricky approves and enjoyed listening to the review as well. Enjoy those adventures.
I'm sure you'll be happy with it Tricia!
I like it!
Thanks.
Anything you wish you had added to the build? I am looking at the Hiker mid range . I need a 5 x 10, and want the 3500lb axle.
I could barely afford the basic here at the time. But if I had more money to spend, definitely would have liked a battery, roof rack, and awning.
@@videozar_How much was the out the door price? Thanks.
It looks like you have no solar. So you pack a generator or have to stay at places with shore power ? My Hiker( I bought it used a few weeks ago ) is wired for solar and I still have to pick up some panels, but I can charge the small battery before I leave home to have lights and heat ( in the morning only) anywhere I go. I love it. These are nicely built little units.
What size is it?
This one was 5'x8'.
Let me get this right from the day you order it, it took a year to get it
Yes. At the time, that's how backed up Hiker was. It was the start of covid and they were a quickly growing company.
@@videozar_ thanks for the reply. I'm thinking about getting one in a year or so.
