I've built 40 vintage bikes including 11 Orange County Choppers that I've sold and it's an uphill climb with these builds. All I can say is that before you start building light up a candle and cross your fingers, just saying.
Hey I have a two-stroke motor my bike starts and I can pull the throttle and he can hear it rub up a little bit but my back tire will not move what do you think could be the problem
Get a £2 ngk spark plug boot screws straight on instead of spring set up i do agree with the way you cut the wire and earth it do you know anyway of rewinding magneto coil I’ve always have had constant problems with the copper wire burning up so when I buy new ones I put glue on the magneto winding to hopefully waterproof it not exactly better but does help keep the water out
My bike wouldnt start everytime i would pull the plug out it would be wet. I could pedal for blocks and it wouldnt start. I finally put the 3 prong chinese spark plug back in and it fired right up everytime. I find it odd that the engine only runs with that chinese plug and not ngk champion or autolite. Any idea on why?
Thank you for posting this. I just bought a bike with an 80cc motor and I can't get it to fire. I'm going to buy a three prong plug and see if that works.
@@petdemrabbits5103 for what its worth i ended up still having problems. After trying absolutely everything i put in a different coil module thing and havent had a problem since. I had spark and everything so i didnt think it was the coil. But after replacing that it has been great.
i need help. my killswitch was ripped off and ever since then i can get the motor to rollover but nothing happens when i throttle it. it just idles for a second and then dies. can it run without a killswitch? is that my issue?
After buying two kits neither of which had a spark plug that fit. And no spark then reversed wires then got yellow spark. I'm now going to goto Autoparts store for a new plug and pray that works. I'm dreading having to replaces all the wires and solder the connections rather than just twist them and solder. Bike only ran for first two weeks then problems no end and has now sat for over a year. I may get to it this year or ask it with a hammer and really make it not work it's the worst purchase I've ever made. And I've bought more than a few non working 50cc gas scooters before all I've had way less problems with. One of them I even had to use a medicine bottle with holes in it over the intake to get one scooter running. So I'm not above getting creative to fix something. But these bike engines suck.
The small slot(keyway)in the middle of the magnet should be pointed to the right/1 o'clock position when it is towards the top of the engine. If it's backwards it will point to the 11 o'clock position and it won't run the engine.
Heyy man i can’t get mine to work I bought it brand new and I followed all the steps but I notice when I put the spark plug in the engine doesn’t want to run and then when I take the spark plug out the engine runs perfectly but when the spark plug isn’t in the engine all the air come out from where the spark plug goes instead do you know why is it doing this ?
Huh? That's not possible, the engine needs spark to fire it up and keep it running. Did you mean to say the exhaust, if so, then that would mean something is plugged in the exhaust, before you bolt it on the engine, blow in the side you would connect to the engine, and feel if it's possible to blow into and feel air coming out the otherside. Good luck.
Update…. After working on it some more, and changing some things,it screams now! Only issue I’m having lately is the choke can’t be opened all the way up. Really close, but not quite wide open.
@@petdemrabbits5103 The issue with mine was faulty coil. Went through everything and gave up(almost) Then we tried a new coil and boom! Old coil had spark but it was piss poor. You’ll want a NGK plug as well. If it doesn’t have one already. They kick ass when they run good… be prepared to work on it regularly….
low plugs number are cold use what it says to use or you will burn hole in piston!!!! nimrod are you a mechanic or a water melon sales man do what us engineers says to use dont be a dope.
The heat rating of each NGK spark plug is indicated by a number; lower numbers indicate a hotter type, higher numbers indicate a colder type. -NGK SPARK PLUGS The higher the number, the hotter the plug, and the lower the number, the colder the plug. -Champion Auto Parts
Don't run a light with the white wire because it takes away from the spark! Just buy a light that takes a battery and did you actually pass "mechanic school"?
It sucked something in and you had engine failure? What on Earth did you suck through the engine that damaged the piston and the jug to the point of failure? You didn't listen to the dude telling people to throw away the air filter? Are you? Let me just say that is a bad idea nk. Nnkay a yeah that's bad.
Bro I have built a few, just finished #43. I always chuck the air cleaner and never look back. My bikes breathe better, run faster, and never had anything happen enginewise except hung a ring after a careless port job, and neither has my customers. I even ride a few trails now and then. I guess I go faster than all the crap on the road that you seem to think are the cause of some catastrophic engine failures. I found that most are caused by improper oil mixture, wrong temp plug for the season, and just running too lean. You got to be going real slow through some bigtime debris with a tornado like tailwind to suck up enough to cause such a failure, but what do I know?
Ive also built multiple and have never had a problem tossing out the filter. I live in a moderate climate. In a dusty area could be better to leave it.
Thank you so much this is so useful for my situation. My brother and I built a yd100 and it won’t start and we figured it was all electrical

Hey man, I also have a 100cc 2 stroke motor: first and last ride as it stopped working while riding due to a suddenly missing spark. Thoughts?

When installing an electric start to my bike will I need to change the magneto to a stator or would I be able to use the existing magneto?
good video, ty
the white wire is a 6volt wire for lights

Yes it will run without a kill switch.

Looking for an issue to fix or test a CDI box I'm not going to find it here

That plug b6hs actually does work with the two piece motor... The pk80

like your video a better ground to the motor .

An engine won't run without the spark plug. Learn your part names and rephrase your question

Well it looks like Mr engineering just got educated... So the advice you said so bluntly showed you to be sooo stupid... Ooops

just cut off the white wire
@joshjoshua6479 exactly! If you use it then it takes power away from the spark
