Loading screens will probably disappear in a few years so putting ads there wouldn't be reliable I think. Anyway, that was interesting.
Thanks for the comment Ivan! You're right it's hard to say for sure. AI could make us custom games for all we know haha, but for now, it's a great way to use cloud to resurface older generation games to the world.

I should also note that loading screens from a pure asset POV will be minimized assuming the assets don't scale at the same speed, but from a network perspective (e.g live service games, multiplayer games, etc), there's only so much new technology can do against latency. I like the discussion though. It's part of the reason I make videos for this channel hehe
They may become unnecessary BUT even in tech we use loading indicators or other time-related visuals literally for the psychological effect they have on our users - the same usage can be argued for the future of games
never ever they'll disappear, as the tech will go further the quality will too and quality needs recourses, it means no matter how far tech goes, recourse heavy games will come with it

The major flaw in this idea is that if the zenkai (free) tier is aimed at ppl that can’t afford to game then the adds would be irrelevant; They would not be able to afford to buy what the adds are selling
Not necessarily accurate, could be for any level of good/service they already utilize from competing brands. Plus, their word of mouth to others is extended advertising for that company’s product/service, etc.

It'll probably be a while until we get rid of them completely. As tech gets better games usually try to get thicker. Time will tell, but at least we got a fun solution

Why would they optimize the game if they can put ads during loading screens lol
This ads in loading screens is an idea that sounds good but isn’t and I doubt anyone in the industry would be foolish enough to try it. Consoles are actively pushing against loading screens, with Microsoft and Sony driving the wheel with better memory systems. Game developers actively trying to hide and disguise loading screens as “crawl spaces” or “travel vehicles 3D loading screens” and so on. Ads in forced loading screens would be worst than loot boxes, and can only happen as part of a “free” tier inconvenience.
A better idea than this would’ve been to put dynamic product placement in video game worlds. Like ads on a Stadium field, tailored dynamically toward the target audience where the footage is streamed. A concept of virtual billboards, that truly don’t interrupt the gameplay. Loading screens will continue to fade away not come back in trend.

If this became normalized they would throw ads into full priced triple A games just like they did for microtransactions.

Dude, water is different from games
Water is a necessity for survival, games are not (despite how great they are)
I'd rather stay as far away from corporate schemes as possible
And also if possible, i'd love to slow their efforts to alter the gaming industry for worse too
A game being free is a sign of something else being compensated, the money isn't being paid upfront on the game alone
I've learned this through alot of time i've spent with free games, sometimes it's a surprise trial, sometimes the game is infested with microtransactions
And sometimes the game is just too ass to be worth playing, let alone buying

Imagine they intentionally jack up the loading times just to show more ads.
Based on how they acted with Microtransactions and BattlePasses it seems highly likely 😆. But thankfully, like RUclips, they want you to play more so you see more ads in the aggregate, so in theory they wouldn't want to deter players from their favorite games.
I think they may intentionally use only HDD for this.
Cheaper and higher storage with long loading time.

You underestimate my hate for ads. Also i know for a fact the second this could hit the market someone will create an adblock. Also also "piracy". Also also also this would get like youtube with double ads longer than the loading itself. Good video anyway, i agree with the last part, this is an underestimate channel by the way.

What about the market moves to a more pay for production model and if they hit the goal for the profit they want then release for everyone at a low or Free* and you could go further & by releasing the assets so now other devs can use them (copyleft/freeware ect) we could get to a point we’re your competitors might willingly give you millions for the code and assets. Also copyright sucks & should be abolished 👍🏾
The problem is companies are built to maximize profit, not stop at a set milestone. Some would, but sadly most wouldn’t in the world we live in.
@@ZenkaiGoose I know and that’s why the profit goal would just reduced the sold price. Say they make 500 million in profit in the production phase so the game is sold for $7 rather than $70
Wouldn't that just push game producers to add more and more loading screens. I could see a scenario where you swap a weapon and a loading screen pops up becoming the new hip fashion for producers to use to milk the industry dry.
I wouldn't worry too much. RUclips operates just fine off ads, and knows if they push too hard less viewers come. It's a balance, and an ad-tier would be an option for those unwilling to pay a monthly ad-free subscription fee.
