    That was awesome! I didn't ever know the Indiana Jones ride had it's own secret language. If it translates to "be sure to drink your Ovaltine" I'm gonna be very upset.

      Nah, most of them warn about Mara’s eyes, but there was one, which is now covered by a wooden sign, that had the slogan for AT&T at the time as they were the rides original sponsors. Knowing that it was an AT&T slogan, I laughed so hard when the ride changed sponsors for the first time, but the slogan was still visible, but it was obviously in the Maraglyphs, but someone eventually caught on, and now has the current sponsors sign covering the engraved AT&T 90’s slogan.

    Awesome! A bit of extra trivia about the Indiana Jones ride: my uncle, Ruben Viramontes, is a former Imagineer and he designed the Eye of Mara you see on the ride, including the one carved into the wall right before boarding. He also designed Pooh’s honey machine that’s up in the candy shop. (I saw it when it was in process in his garage studio.) The more you know! 😁

    Did you know in Indiana jones in the projector room, waaay up high and in the back near the projector itself, there is an old eeyore parking lot sign as a momento to the old parking lot that used to be there before Indiana jones! It’s hard to see but if you ask a cast member they can shine their flashlight to it for you! I thought it was a really cool thing to add in there as well

    I worked in Adventureland in the early 90's and was employed when the Indy ride first opened. In the entrance queue, there was a section where it was patterned off of the Temple of Doom spike room with Short Round. If you tugged on a bamboo support (it had a sign that said dont touch), a sound effect would play and spikes would drop from the ceiling. It was always breaking, so they removed it. You can still see the remnants to this day.

    • @a1m4thah3d
      @a1m4thah3d Год назад

      I remember pushing on that bamboo as a kid a week or two after the ride first opened and everyone, including myself, freaked the hell out lol. I was horrified I broke something and didn't touch anything after that.

    So is the “Tarzan Tree house” what was the “Swiss Family Robinson Tree house”? That’s what it was last time I got to go. Yes it’s been that long. We used to go each summer for at least a week alternating DL and WDW. Watching these videos brings back great memories. I would love to go again.

    • @courtney6126
      @courtney6126 5 лет назад

      OH OK🤗. They changed it to Tarzan in 99. My senior year of high school. It was awesome as Swiss Family Robinson Tree House!

    • @provostparkpass
      @provostparkpass  5 лет назад +1

      Yes it was changed from the Swiss family Robinson treehouse to the Tarzan tree house. You need to come back. It’s just as good as you remember. Maybe even better. 👍🏻👍🏻

      Provost Park Pass Oh my gosh I can’t tell you how many wonderful memories these and other RUclips videos bring up for me. Me and my parents, younger brother, grandparents, and great grands always went together. We alternated DL and WDW from the time I was 2 to 12, then started doing week long cruises. Which was different back then than it is now. But I miss Disney so much and we always stayed at either the Disneyland Hotel or Polynesian Hotel. I can even specifically remember what they smell like as you walk in. Isn’t that weird!

  • @joshuaburch382

    I always look for Mrs. Potts down by the Trashin' the Camp scene in Tarzan's Tree House but I've never seen the little man at Disneyland house. That's awesome!

  • @smithda1996
    @smithda1996 6 лет назад +8

    Enjoying your video's. I heard one other explanation for the way they designed as you walked through adventure land and why it is thinner. They wanted it to feel like the hustle and bustle of many of the markets in African countries. Also, I was surprised that you didn't bring up that part of the reason you have to walk under the train is because they needed more space to buil the Indiana Jones ride and so it was built in the old Eeyore parking lot and that if you look just right in the projector room there is an old Eeyore parking lot sign near the projector.

  • @joeleon5009
    @joeleon5009 4 года назад +2

    Indiana Jones is my personal favorite attraction in all of Disneyland. I never knew about the hieroglyphics they have when you're walking in the line. I'll have to keep a look out for it. Great video as always Chris! I learn something new every time I watch your videos.

  • @kidwajagstang
    @kidwajagstang 6 лет назад +8

    I was actually there the day before public opening (when they had a special event full of celebs and big wigs and skit for those VIP’s) and the day it opened to the public. It’s the only time I think they ever had Nazi soldiers at Disneyland, as they were the enemies “Indy” was fighting in the private skit performed for the special guests for the special event. I don’t think the Jungle Cruise has ever been so popular than that day as it was the only way for the regular Joe’s to catch a glimpse of the festivities going on. I have never found footage of the skit they did with Indy fighting the enemy soldiers, but I saw a few as we passed the Temple when we finally got on Jungle Cruise, which had a near 2 hour wait!

    • @kidwajagstang
      @kidwajagstang 6 лет назад +1

      Also, those cards were very handy for those standing in line before they introduced the Fastpass system to give people something to do as I remember standing in line for around 2 hours by the time we got to the spike trap room with the bamboo shoots holding the trap at bay...
      Also, I’m still upset the Indy store is gone :( it was small, but has been my favorite store in Disneyland since it opened. Wish I had purchased one of the wooden rifles they sold there back then, but at the time, it wasn’t as good of quality compared to the pirate guns, so those were a better bargain. The metal pistol should have been another, but they stopped selling those amazingly good looking toy guns very suddenly without fair warning to those passing them up thinking they were Disney souvenir staples and could get one next time...

    I used to be a vendor at Disneyland, selling popcorn and churros (along with any other things). And I never realized that we consciously never sold either in Adventureland (to be honest, we DID sell popcorn there, but from pre-packed boxes, not a cart, when he line Indy was four hours long, but we never sold churros there, and we never actually had a popcorn cart there; we sold it out of boxes that we filled from a popcorn cart elsewhere).
    I remember the weekend after the ride opened, it had to close for the next weekend because of structural issues (the vehicle guides were too weak and vehicles were in danger of breaking free of the track) and I was working an ice cream cart just outside the ride's entrance, and I had to answer questions about why this new ride which we had advertised the heck of was closed. That sucked (but I overall REALLY enjoyed my time as a cast member).

    My husband LOVES the Tiki room and we took our grandson to DL and of course to the Tiki Room. I asked his 5 year old little self how he liked it and he said, not really, it's an old peoples ride! Well there are a couple other non- authentic additions to the Raiders of the lost Ark truck.... metal grips on the bottom were added for the stunt double to hold in the scene where Indie was dragged under the truck. (you can a couple when you're looking at the truck in DL). And the truck was lifted higher than normal so "Indie" could pass under it safely.

    I remember going to Disneyland shortly after the Indiana Jones ride opened. I was still in elementary school at the time and our teachers would assign us to do vacation note books to document what we did while we were gone. I ended up filling half of the note book with the mara glyphs and then having the translation below them since the line was so long. I had enough time to jot them down in the book and then I'd translate them when I got back to the hotel room that night

Tarzan's Tree House, a Tiki room drummer on top of the Jungle Cruise queue (upstairs queue),and the SEA Members in the Bengal BBQ! I really am enjoying this channel! Sub'd!
