Literally just finished my 2nd rewatch of Smallville after the original series finale air date. His Clark was peak. Hell, even the last few minutes of the finale (10 years later?) He was playing the dual identity. Definitely a dorky Clark, that's the dual identity. And when people bash it in this trailer it's like, have you EVER read a Superman comic? Watched Superman Returns? That's a dorky Clark. Reeves Superman? That's a dorky Clark. Snyder's version twisted who Superman/Clark is in so many ways in mind boggling. Now now, I still enjoyed his take. But it's like this... I just rewatched that one MOS trailer. Is it epic, yes. At the time, incredible. But you know what, the score and feel of the new one FEELS like Superman. MOS felt like... some prophet, almost godly presence. And Snyder took him that route, a lot of religious comparisons to God and Jesus etc etc. I get the take, but looking back now, it's not Superman. It's an elseworld take, and that's fine. But I'm ready for a traditional Superman. Gimme Reeves/Routh tone with some Snyder 'style' action. The one scene with him saving the child is epic Snyder Style with a spin and a Reeves/Routh tone. Perfection.
@@KonEl17 Even non CW fans think there are some good things about Smallville like Michael Rossenbaum's Lex Luthor. Just because it was on the CW doesn't mean there aren't some great things about it. CW gets shit on so much but the Lex Luthor portrayal from that show was one of the best, regardless of TV/movies.
My favorite superman trait is that there's nothing that's not important for him: saving a city or just one person is the same, he'll do anything to get everyone safe
Have you seen the 1978 Superman? That is the first time they brought the character to life on the silver screen. Christopher Reeve was that Man of Steel, and for it being in that era he performed it perfectly
Incorrect. The first Superman Live Action film was in 1948 starring Kirk Alyn. Alyn played the role of Lois Lane's father on the train in Superman 1978. Noel Neill played her mother. Noel was the Lois Lane of the 1948 film and its sequel as well as the 2nd Lois Lane of the 1950s Adventures of Superman with George Reeves. She also played the elderly woman that Lex Luthor married in Superman Returns.
He had love for that robot because his actual dad(from krypton) built it. It will probably serve as his last connection to his father and will probably be a fairly emotional scene considering it’s just a robot.
Lois Lane is played by Rachel Brosnahan. When y’all are ready for a new series, she starred in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Highly recommend! It’ll def be a palate cleanser after GoT.
My first thought was, "Not another Superman movie." 🙄 But something about this seems different. This version looks like it will have more heart than some of the previous versions. Henry Cavill is a good Superman...he LOOKS the part, BUT he was still very much an "alien." The vibe definitely feels different this time around, and im excited.
Character List in order, if I remember right. Superman, Lois Lane, Krypto, Lex Luthor, Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Kaiju is Unknow right now, Metamorpho, Mr. Terrific!
Nicholas Hoult plays the new Lex Luthor. I recognize him from "The Great," and he's been in a bunch of other things like the X-Men franchise. Back when "Smallville" was airing, Tom Welling was my favorite Superman, too, but I got burnt out before the series wrapped up. Interestingly enough, I found out recently that Reeves was not the first live-action Superman. The very first live-action Superman was released all the way back in 1948, starring Kirk Alyn as Superman. It was a serial rather than a full-length movie, which is why Reeves gets credit for being the first Superman in a full-length movie. This movie looks dope. I might actually go to the theaters for this. Haven't been since pre-C19.
I think Hoult looks good for the Lex Luthor part, much better than Jesse's portrayal of Luthor but I was a little sad that Michael Rossenbaum wasn't cast. I remember seeing Gunn on his podcast and he did praise Michael's portrayal of Lex Luthor.
Movie wise the best Superman is still Reeves. I feel bad for Henry Cavill because they gave that dude trash material. His Superman didn’t seem like the approachable, loveable, boyscout I personally love. He was just Kal-el with glasses on and we never got to see him as Clark. Cavill's Superman didn’t illustrate any kind of emotion at all, he was just kind of boring and he was a murderer and Superman doesn't kill. This Superman based on the teaser trailer is the authentic REAL Superman. The Superman that inspires hope and goes around the room introducing himself and shaking everyone's hand. Superman ain't about how hard he can hit or get hit it's about perseverance when times are tough and showing others that everyone has some good in them.
EXACTLY! Thank you. Because this Superman had me so much hope and faith. The fact that this Superman will be faithful to THE REAL Superman we all love. I grew up with Christopher Reeve, the fact that I can embrace this without an ounce of “Christopher Reeves is still the best yada yada yada” Don’t get me wrong, for me Christopher Reeves embodies Superman and even in real life given his circumstances & how he faced it. BUT this?! I am excited to see Superman again, and I love David Corenswet already. Superman is the beacon of HOPE, Superman INSPIRE PEOPLE, Superman SAVES PEOPLE, Superman brings light to people and despite being an alien he pursue to understand humanity and he has a heart and understanding. Superman PROTECTS and he’s down to earth and humble. This, THIS IS THE SUPERMAN and I’m so excited. Lord I’m crying after all these years finally. I was so overwhelmed that I was shaking while watching the trailer and still do even how many times I watch it.
Lookie-here tho Addison...I love you to death, and I appreciate you willing to wait it out...but you bet not! I expect you to be there, premiere day at an IMAX theater. Maybe do an immediate live reaction with us. I don't think any of the die-hard Superman fans subscribed to this channel are going to wait for it to stream. Nah, we want your fresh out the theater reaction...and I can't wait. ❤️
I’ve been binging smallville I’m almost done and it’s made me interested in learning about his life so I’m so exited about this movie as well as watching the old cartoons and the new Superman and Lois show
Might do a reaction to the old classic film, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939). James Gunn said while he was writing the script that the storyline and the some of the personality traits of this Superman was inspired by this film and its lead character, Jefferson Smith.
Man, I love the outro music. The unexpected lyrics made me laugh out loud, literally. I recommend you take the young boy inside you to the movie theatre, don't take notes(right), be in the moment.
This is what Superman is supposed to look like, I’m super hyped for it. First time since the original two Superman movies (the Christopher reeve movies from back in the day) we’ve had a proper, hopeful Superman on the big screen. July can’t come soon enough
I grew up with Christopher Reeves movies. But when I saw Henry Cavill in the Tudors I knew he'd be the perfect Superman. I wish they did more with him as a stand alone character instead of DC trying to compete with the MCU. Brandon Routh just gets ignored but he also had potential as Superman. Loved the trailer - the use of the 1978 John Williams score was perfect. I hope it does well.
Dude this might be worth being in the theaters for, you could still to a post review going through it? Idk what you think is worth it but eother way this is gonna be sick
While there aren't any mega stars in the film there are some pretty big names in the cast. Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk are very big in Sci-Fi, Nicholas Hoult played Beast in the newer X-Men films and ofc Sean Gunn (James' brother) is in it too lol
I think the African-American superhero is "Mr. Terrific"....I wasn't familiar with him because I mainly just watch the movies and TV, but apparently, in the comic books, he's like a thematically lighter version of Batman. He's a rich guy who has all kinds of gadgets, and is also highly adept at various forms of hand to hand combat, but he's not a "dark knight".....he's more like Superman in his motivations and tactics. 🙂
Great reaction! I know what you mean by an outstanding soundtrack. I own the original “John Williams “Superman” soundtrack on Vinyl, cassette, cd and digital. Every time I hear the opening it sends chills down my spine.😊
1st, if your sister loved you she would understand. 2nd, watch it in the theater first. Do a commentary with us later. You can't give everything to the fans. Jk about your sister 😆
I wish they had just used the John Williams music itself, just license it and use it again...maybe remix it? But the one they used is cool and does contain elements of the John Williams music 🙂 I'm just glad that they SEEM (based on this trailer) to be making a thematically lighter movie! That's what I didn't like about Man of Steel et al. Not saying anything against Henry Cavil, he did a great job. But it was like they were trying to make Superman into a dark character. I definitely want to see a lighter, hopeful Superman movie this time! 🙂I look forward to this one 🙂
this dude.. favorite superman was not superman but clark kent lol looking back at the final season how did tom welling get 10 seasons of a show and still was a bad actor. he didnt become superman till like the last 5 minutes
The original music by John Williams for the Christopher Reeves Superman is still THE Superman music and my favorite score by JW. I’m glad they are using it in this trailer. John Williams and Hans Zimmer are my favorite composers. I do really like Henry Cavil as S-Man, and Hans Zimmer’s Man of Steel music really worked for that movie... First Flight is on my playlist, along with Why So Serious from Dark Knight. What I like about Hans Zimmer is he was able to create amazing music without actually replacing what came before, as in JW’s Superman, and Danny Elfman’s Batman score from 1989. (I’m such a nerd for soundtrack music lol) I’m afraid to have an opinion about this movie just yet, until I hear some of the writing.
Tom welling doesn't get enough love, he's my favorite too
Not to nit pick but he wasn't really Superman he's more known for just Clark but Smallvile gets a ton of love especially from CW fans
Imo, I think the Superman who doesn't get enough love is Kirk Alyn, Dean Cain, and Brandon Routh
