Let's be honest. They are dammed if they do and dammed if they don't. People cry they are too aggressive and now mock them for being too lenient. Cops need to just do their job, and the people need to do their time. If they cooperate, then give them a break. Everyone makes mistakes. But if the situation is escalated, they should not hold back. Nah, Lawyers perspectives are very helpful. These people know more about the court-side of law than anybody. Let's be honest, there's nothing you can do when you're being subdued. Sure you can luck out and fight them off like this idiot did, but your best bet if you have faced injustice by the "law" is to have your day in court. Get the best lawyer you can, and go from there. Don't lose your life and take somebody else's over your own liberty, many of these cops are suspended or fired for overreach or tyranny. I like cops, but they aren't all good people. Not at all.

According to the video, both Griffin and a female passenger gave false names and birth dates to troopers three times. During a record check, troopers say Griffin had a nationwide arrest warrant for felony weapons charges. They learned the woman also had pending felony charges for weapons offenses.
They had no lawful right to identify them in the first place. They were disabled on the shoulder, not committing any crimes or violations which is required for a cop to demand ID from a civilian

The girlfriend knew he had a gun the whole time, thats why she said they were going to die. She knew he was going to shoot the cops. Very disturbing. I hope the officer is ok.
I think she handed him the gun. You can hear him telling her to shoot him in the head. Also she dips back into the car right before he pulls it and appears to say "I'm giving you the gun" but it's hard to really understand what she says in there.
Hell of a shot by the Trooper. He only had a second or two but landed 2 shots that ended this. The bad guy was right though, he wasn't going in cuffs, just a body bag.

The couple were both wanted on a New Mexico warrant from an incident last year. They had driven onto a man's property, started arguing when he asked why they were there, and fired two shots as they drove away. In the present case, she apparently hasn't been charged with the assault on the officer, but is being held for extradition. I don't Illinois law on Complicity, but it really appears she should be charged.
@@Jay-fq8uz Watch the video again. She repeatedly got back into the car - where the gun was - inserted herself between the police and the man, and did everything she could to interfere with the arrest. The shooting occurred after one officer was forced to handle the man one-on-one while the other dealt with her. That allowed him to get back in the car and retrieve the gun.
The female obviously put the pistol within reach on the passenger seat for the male to access during the struggle. I hope she is being charged with something.
I think the word "obvious" may have a meaning that is lost to you. I don't see anywhere in the video where she obviously did anything involving a weapon and I seriously hope that if you ever find yourself in front of a jury that they use everyone else's definition of "obvious" instead of yours.
Or, hear me out for a second, it was already in reach. DUN DUN DUN.... Lol "obviously" is not the word to use here - "probably" would be a better qualifier.
Best wishes to the officer, good news that he survived. The most important thing is all you guys (officers) went home to your families. Be safe out there.
Remember most jobs in the Military are not combat. He could have been a network engineer or the janitor, in the military. So the phrase "I was in the military" doesn't mean anything. My buddy uses that line all the time and he spent 20 years in the military fixing computers with 0 combat. Another friend of mine spent 15 years in the military as a car mechanic, again no combat.
Means nothing when it comes to the hands, but definitely means something when it comes to gunplay. All military jobs, combat or not, are trained shooters, who have to qualify yearly. I was in the Army 11 years. I wasn’t a combat MOS, but I like my chances in a shootout against 8 out of 10 civilians. Those other two, one is a lucky shot or natural, and the other has some weapons training. Sleep on that “I was in the military” shit if you want. Get your ass chipped.

Bizarre?? They were wanted in NM for agg assault with a firearm and she was a co-defendant. They were BOTH wanted in NM and the trooper figured that out.

When the woman said they were going to die, that was a big sign that they were willing to fight back, I'm astounded how they didn't use immediately the tasers on both of them
Tasers are not really effective in close combat. You have to be a certain amount of distance away for the prongs to deploy and spread out enough. If they're too close together using a taser usually just pisses off the subject. Even at a distance there's a pretty high failure rate. This place should have been what's more well-versed in grappling and contact fighting.
"Where am I shot?" That officer saw his life flash before his eyes, but thankfuly his partner saved him. This is why officers should NEVER patrol or engage someone alone.
I can't believe how much they got away with there. That is absurd, letting that woman approach like that and then go in the car, and it looked like the cops were just standing there barey holding him
She gives off dumb chick vibes which is probably why she was with that guy. The cops correctly identified the bigger threat. You have to remember there’s only 2 of them at that time.
You obviously weren’t watching closely then. They had their hands full with him actively resisting them, so when exactly were they able to go round her up? 🙄
@@davidm9618 he's right though. They never had control of the situation. Let the woman run around all over the place and interfere. They couldn't control the male suspect at all. They were too relaxed about the whole thing and almost paid the ultimate price for it. I mean they let both suspects enter the car. They're lucky as fuck that the woman didn't take the gun from the car and shoot them both in the back while they're wrestling with the guy. But hey, there's a silver lining here. I'm pretty certain they will never again approach a situation like this as nonchalant and relaxed as they did here.
There's a time for being nice, and there's a time for not being nice. This suspect and that girl crossed that line as soon as he started resisting and she wouldn't comply.
When the girl started getting close like that and going in to the car thats when you choke the guy out or taser him. The troopers let her get away with too much. Seems like the troopers were hesitant to put a real hurt on the guy which would have saved one of them from being shot.
Dude when suspect says he not going in cuffs that means he is gonna fight and take every single person with him or die trying he is very dangerous person
Guys I have to give a TON of credit to the officer telling his buddy "Come on, come on, get back", it takes a lot just to be in a situation like this, but if you can manage to keep your head straight and make a move like that, that's very tough. they were like two thirds of the three stooges
They deserve to go home. This is why there are cops with bad attitudes.
That woman should be charged with causing Griffin's death and sent to prison. Disgusting. She could've saved his life by simply staying clear or talking Griffin down to go to court and live to see another day. But now he's no longer a menace or burden to anyone anymore.
I understand that you're upset, but thinking someone should be charged for the outcome of the situation because they didn't aid in calming the perpetrator down is completely unreasonable.

Brandon Griffin had a warrant for failing to appear in court on a charge for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and shooting at or from a vehicle. In case anyone is wondering why this escalated the way it did.
If you pulled the same stunt these cops did by demanding something you are NOT entitled to then you proceeded to do this and arrest, yeah, good thing you are NOT a cop since you would deserve a dirt nap too!
@@leftistsarenotpeople Doesnt change a thing. HE (griffin) deserved the dirt nap for doing exactly what he did, and has done before leading up to this.
Regardless of how people feel about rights this and that, if you were truly innocent ( in this case he clearly wasnt), you wouldnt have such a huge issue with complying and getting the interaction over with. End of story. Literally decided to get into a shootout with police, one that HE started by shooting first. No amount of wording or bs will change that.

why were two cops just grabbing at one suspects arms like he was an old lady?
Illinois instead of Arkansas
Not a threathning skin tone
There's an innocent female in the car, are you blind?
Guys I have to give a TON of credit to the officer telling his buddy "Come on, come on, get back", it takes a lot just to be in a situation like this, but if you can manage to keep your head straight and make a move like that, that's very tough. He is a very good man. That's who you want by your side in a situation like this.
Nope. Bad partners. They nearly died from their complacency.
Exactly right maybe a combat veteran but still you never should leave anyone behind I never did
Mass respect for the officer who quickly returned effective and fatal fire in the midst of that chaotic situation, thus preventing any further injuries or death.
@@cliffbutler9820 I hope your mommy finds out you're playing with her computer...
@@cliffbutler9820 ok how innocent are you?You should be animal instead of human but next life will be sure.We ain't call human who can't decide the truth.
@@avengejudge I'm a free human. That has no masters. I choose not to be governed. As you have to give consent to be governed. So any laws that pass are illegal. As nobody gets to vote on these illegal laws. As long as I'm not harming anyone. I'm going to go about my business as I please.
@@cliffbutler9820 I’m as libertarian as it gets but you sovereign citizens are a nightmare to be around. Don’t lick the boot but don’t sound like a feminist banshee in the process.
@@cliffbutler9820 But, he WAS harming people. He committed a trespass and shot at the property owner and wounded someone on the property, and had already been sentenced for that offense, but FTA, so he had a warrant out for his arrest. Are you trying to claim that its illegitimate to have laws against shooting people?
For the life of me I can’t understand how two “trained” officers couldn’t subdue a scrawny dude like that
As a former officer you never know how strong some people are especially on drugs I'm 6ft3 225 and had all out brawls with guys 175. And I could bench 305
Ye that's true. When I was younger my friend who was about 16 at the time and 5ft 5 was giving 3 police a ride haha, only stopped when 2 more arrived and managed to subdue him, but you'd never expect it from a dude that small. Some people are just real squirmy ay. @@kedt4mb
Glad to hear that the trooper will recover and that Griffin had died at the scene.
If only people didn’t feel bad for criminals. I love seeing people like you, restores my faith a lil
Im confused how strong that kid is. Those are 2 adult men trying to overpower him.
Ikr?
When you are in a fight, FIGHT. Never spar with anyone.
Most disturbing clip I've seen, maybe ever. It had the vibe of an unconfrontational typical traffic stop. Nobody suspected the woman to assist the guy in shooting this brave officer. POS got what he deserved. Maybe her outstanding charges, combined with this, will let her think about things for 20 years behind bars. Respect to all cops who live in this world where nothing can be taken at face value.
I'm confused. You said the cop was the POS, right? Because to say anything else means you're a statist pig with no right to exist.
It wasn't a traffic stop at all. Their car broke down and a cop stopped and spun the act of looking for any reason to arrest them as "just trying to help". Sane people think that trying to screw someone over while pretending to help them is a pretty fucked up thing to do, but I guess you have a "special" sympathetic way of looking at that.
@@AtlasReburdened sure like licking the criminal boot, huh?
@@AtlasReburdened go do your research before spreading propaganda about this video
Yeah, it was, and it could have been a lot worse.
id really like to hear the backstory to this. something was not right with those two kids.
Ya, something is off. Definitely doesn't explain why they were acting like they were. We really should have the full stop video
The woman is 31. Not a kid
Maybe because the cops harrased them and then tried to arrest them after assaulting them, and one probably suffered from ptsd
@@david-468 Hopefully you are joking :D
@@juutalaistenpolttouuni you’d probably support the Nazis too
I hope the girlfriend sits in jail for a couple of years- she made it much worse
