When zip tyeing a woven hose to a solid pipe, the vibration from that big motor will eventually rub a hole. Racecar guys cut a piece of 1/2" rubber hose- 1/2" long. Place it between the two items to be tied. Run a "Figure 8" with a zip tie around the pipe, through the hose piece and lastly, around the woven hose. Tighten as tight as possible. Use as many as needed for a solid, secure installation.

@@hyperluminalreality1 they had 472 and 500 cubic inch engines in the 70s..at least GM did..biggest Ford had was a 460..could be possible that this motor is bored and stroked out of a 460..
Then why not call them on the "original" blown 640 engine they used here? The 1975 Bigfoot had stock power train, and even the 1979 military conversion used a milder engine than this one here. 600plus inch engines did not even exist in the 1970s, and Bob Chandler was low budget at the time.

@@jefffloyd3480 You're just ignorant Jeff. Bigfoots newest trucks are fully capable of competing with the likes of Grave Digger and Maximum Destruction, if Bigfoot were to join Monster Jam they would absoultley steal the show from Grave Digger and Max D, I can already see the advertisement that the Monster Jam officials would promote Bigfoot under. The REAL reason Bigfoot won't join monster jam is because their race's are scripted AND you have to basically sell the rights to your name to monster jam, Grave Diggers not really Grave Digger anymore. Monster Jam is literally just wrestling on wheels and the monster trucks are the wrestlers. You probably thought WWE was real to haha.
@@jefffloyd3480 you probably don't know this little fact but when monster truck racing first started, Bigfoot did win every race so the racing organization started making Bigfoot reduce engine power, shock travel and a host of other restrictions in an attempt to slow Bigfoot down so others could compete. Same thing with the manual valve body transmission in a monster truck. Because when your rattling around in the seat you want to be worried about shifting.

@billyfromtheusa he said it's 1000hp with out nitrous so it's still a bad idea. Pending on the kinda hit they are giving it. Also drive line lose is to the tires the trans is directly connected to the engine and takes all the abuse of the power.

I was 10 years old when BoB drove this truck down the street in Florissant Missouri I watched the progression of this truck growing up in the same town. And BoB was the coolest guy you could ever have known he took me for a ride in it and let us just hang out at the shop.
So much history here.... Turn the volume up at the end. Motor sounds like heaven....
Lester Showout Walls As soon as they turned that key my volume went all the way up!
I saw the truck when it was about one year old and gotta say it was overwhelming. We've gotten desensitized to these but when this industry was brand new it was hypnotizing and nearly unbelievable.
It's pretty cool that I can say I've followed Big Foot from the start. It also says I'm getting old.
Same here
nah, you're not getting old. you've just seen a lot of cool shit in your lifetime.
Thought the same thing seen it when it first came out in 79 I was 8 now I'm 47 time flies
@@sean6077 Thanks brother. I've definitely seen and owned a lot of cool shit, yes. My son who's 25 and also a mechanic always says that I'm lucky that I got to work on, and own a lot of really cool cars and trucks. I gotta agree with him. With the exception of a handful of vehicles, there really isn't too much out there that gets me excited or interested anymore.
Makes two of us. I saw the original article on Bigfoot 1 in April of 1979.
Just to work on a legendary vehicle, omg! JEALOUS!
Broken Medic They have no idea how lucky they are.
Def one of the most violent start ups I’ve seen
Bigfoot and the moster X tour is actually here in Hawaii this weekend. Was one of the first to buy tickets and pit passes for the family. Cant wait!!
I remember watching a Bigfoot VHS tape as a kid in the early 80s. My brothers and I would watch it at least once a week. Had a variety of Chandler's creations from this truck to that Ford Aerostar minivan on tank tracks. The suspension's were crazy stiff back then. I remember very hard landings and seeing the driver's heads slam forward. They've come a long ways.
Yeah, I think this era of Monster trucks are infinitely cooler than what we have today, BUT I can't argue with how much safer they are today either.
Or use a metal clamp. They sell them...
@@carstuff4u942 Yes. The tip tie method is more of a raceday/trackside fix. (After you get a leak from not supporting it in the first place.)
priceless engine.

You mean like using the nos system as a place to hold yourself up...
Im honestly surprised to see someone other than the Bigfoot team work on it. I know Bob Chandler through my dad who also drives monster trucks, and he is very protective of the original truck. As far as I know, no one outside his company has ever driven this truck.
And I wouldn't blame them. You've got this putz working on it who literally scratched the fucking thing when he fell at ruclips.net/video/hhXkq4G2CJc/видео.html There is no way in hell I would have that idiot work on any of my vehicles.
16:35. No matter who you are Chevy, Ford, dodge, you have to admit that there is no other sound as beautiful as that
Historic monster truck, that engine sounds amazing 😎👍💪💪
Aw man i love the sound of a super powerful engine and when they sound like they barely staying running but thats how they supposed to be omg idk gives me goose bumps love it!
This episode would have been a lot cooler if you would have brought Bob Chandler on the set to do an interview I always like listening to what Bob Chandler has to say

Kinda nice to see a Bigfoot video that deals with reality.
Like using the "original" blown 640 engine Bob used in 1975 as claimed here? What crap. 600 plus inch engines did not exist in the 1970s. Bob used stock powertrain in 1975 and even the 1979 military powertrain conversion did not use a blown mountain motor. Reality my ass. Welcome to the world...please drive thru.
HUGO FUGUSEV I was referring to the mythical creature.
@@hyperluminalreality1 they had 472 and 500 cubic inch engines in the 70s..at least GM did..biggest Ford had was a 460..could be possible that this motor is bored and stroked out of a 460..
@@russellbluewolf6427 That's a Allan Root shotgun Hemi Ford. Original had a iron block 460.

I grew up with big foot love it!
Then why not call them on the "original" blown 640 engine they used here? The 1975 Bigfoot had stock power train, and even the 1979 military conversion used a milder engine than this one here. 600plus inch engines did not even exist in the 1970s, and Bob Chandler was low budget at the time.
EPIC... SATURDAY MORNING CHILDHOOD MEMORIES..... THANKS FOR THIS!
Wow...these shows are something else. An old truck with not a spec of dirt or grease on it, all pre-assembled brand new parts, they didn't even get their gloves dirty !
flyinwalenda I’ve never seen any of these tv mechanics actually dirty. Someone else does the actual work I assume
When shadetree mechanic was on the air in the '90's Sam&Dave were believable and got their hands kind of dirty.
Dang, what a journey…I literally grew up with BIGFOOT. I went to the races at the ASTRODOME, watched the cartoon, had the toys. It’s really cool to see it get a second go round.
I'm a real bigfoot fan. I love the og truck.
If you do then why don't you would ask WTF on the "original" blown 640 engine. That is the engine Bob used in 1975 huh? Even the 1979 military conversion had a smaller engine.600 plus inch mountain motors did not exist in the 1970s.
I thought that this truck was older than og
@@hyperluminalreality1 I noticed that too. The original had a 460 in it. 640 didn't come along till the late 80s, early 90s. Allan Root wasent even in business yet in the 70s.
@@hyperluminalreality1 I believe in "Part 1" they explain that this was originally purposed as a boat motor that got modified with Allan Roots parts? Could explain why it never showed up in any vehicles.
@@hyperluminalreality1 Also, Jim kramer does mention in Part 1 that the first motor was the 460 (I think) then was replaced with this one, so they do indeed acknowledge that it wasn't motor number 1...you are correct.

Btw that smile on that dudes face when the motor turned on...only wrenchmonkeys know that feeling.
I love the sound of this 640! Nice piece of nostalgia. On a side note, who talks like this guy?
Honestly it surprises me that Bigfoot was an automatic a truck that age I thought would be a manual. That would be a sight to see for sure. Been a Bigfoot fan since I was a kid now 34 this is a treat.
Most monster trucks are automatic powered. It would be very hard to shift in the air or driving over crushed vehicles. Lol

AutoZone coolant in a mixed metals build that’s going to a museum? Ouch. Corrosion coming soon. Why not Evans Waterless Coolant for this beast?
Grant Arnold Doesn’t matter, the engines already been taken out and put on a stand in Bigfoots showroom. If they ever put it back in the truck for a museum, it won’t have any fluids.

Your CAPS LOCK is stuck, should really get that fixed... idiot
Bob Chandler had had enough. He was tired of being punished because his truck was so dominant. That's why you don't see modern Bigfoot's racing in Monster Jam. Same thing with the manual valve body transmission in a monster truck. Because when your rattling around in the seat you want to be worried about shifting.
Back when monster trucks were actual trucks with door locks, not the nascars they are today. Gotta love the making progress music in all these types of fix it up shows when nothing can go wrong.

1000hp engine with an 800hp rated trans sound like a recipe for disaster.
@billyfromtheusa he said it's 1000hp with out nitrous so it's still a bad idea. Pending on the kinda hit they are giving it. Also drive line lose is to the tires the trans is directly connected to the engine and takes all the abuse of the power.
In the video he said this trans is custom built but "based" off of the 875hp rated super street fighter. It isnt an off the shelf SSF.
@billyfromtheusa lol.....trans is part of driveline loss.....
Also in the first video they said the NOS was never needed and used.
They arnt racing it anymore, it runs and it idles just to move it around, even if they crawled over a car at a car show that TCI will hold tight.
What was the old tranny rated at that's the original standard.
