It's an Asylum movie.. they couldn't afford them
Researched it. They used a new system called Air In, Air Out (AIAO).
Basically they filtered the CO2 using a tube to the anus. The CO2 is filtered through the pancreas and pressurized by the colon. After buildup, O2 is released on demand or by pressure from bending over.
They do caution about flammable gass buildup.

Not the worst script ever but very close to that area 😂 what’s killing me is their costumes, space helmets where the actors never see anything through their foggy visors, the bulky tins in the upper parts and those humps of unknown purpose… probably just to never let them sit in a chair. If NASA could do it better decades ago why not copy from known designs. LOL
