I did the whole body with drywall tape and 3M Super 77 spray glue. Out of all the bodies that I have including the pro line brute body. Drywall tape and 3M absolutely held up the best!!! 2 years later still using the same body!!! Brute body broken a week
Definitely gonna try this, thanks! Also the RPM body savers are nice, cause they cover a much larger area on the bed where they join two screws together.
I have used the same tech. After a crash it was brittle. But I was doing dirt oval racing. What appended was it was getting brushed sideswiped and it just could not handle it is like rubber I used the tape and glue and yeah it was o for awhile but after you’d probably end up with buying another body but my paint job was to rad to throw away. I kept gluing and meshing it.
Thanks for this after a jump that went sideways from 10-12 feet it resulted in it rolling onto the body and cracking it at the start of the back tab in each corner same on each side no sure how well drywall take and shoe glue will hold but i guess it’s worth a try.
Just repaired a couple lexan bodies with bondo fiberglass repair kit. So far it's holding up well and seems to effectively act as a custom cage for the bodies. Just keep it thin at the body posts, I went with several layers there thinking that's where there would be the most stress and had to sand it down to get the body clips in.
Why is it every time a caste motor goes in a rc the body just gets completely destroyed lol my trx4 blazer body was beautiful threw a 4600kv in it an a mamba x an it’s destroyed as well 😂
I’m stunned. Great minds think alike I guess..... a while back U released a vid on putting silicone plugs into the k8... I was editing my own vid doing the same when u put yours out..... now one of my other vids in body repair using shoe goo etc is already uploaded and was going to make public tomorrow....😂😂😂😂😂 that’s twice u beat me to it!😂😂😂 Not even watched the vid yet! Just blew me away so thought I’d comment 1st😆
I used to to use drywall tape and shoe goo but now I just use gorilla tape I do the whole body before I run a fresh body haven’t cracked or damaged one yet since switching methods
Great vid. I see in the comments that many use things like Shoe Goo or E6000 with drywall tape, and even Gorilla Tape, on a new shell to protect it. What are your thoughts on preparing the shell - E6000 and drywall, as you used here?
Exo, how are still running the stock spur gear on that truck, I’ve killed two with a stock motor. What after market company do you recommend for mod 1 spur gear for the x maxx. Thanks
I've heard hot racing makes good gears. On mine I have a 45t pinion so its easier on the spur gear than the small stock gear is. At least thats my thoughts on it
Hey bud just bought the redcat gen 7 pro I also have an axial scx10ll Wich I wanna put a brushless set up in can you recommend a cheap good brushless set up for the axial
thats a tough one, not many good and cheap brushless setups out there. If sensored isn't an issue you could do a Castle sidewinder 4 and a 3BRC Acis motor in the 2700kv range. Other than that it gets expensive quick

E6000 does it again. Great idea for any RC body.

I feel like Traxxas should team up with the guys that own the indestructible bodies and make this standard on the xMaxx🤷🏾♂️
couldnt agree more!
Definitely a severe weak spot. My XMAXX’s only last 1-2 runs before this happens. Not cool
I have been doing this for a while, and it works great! Very strong fix!

lol man I've had a lot of time to do these videos lately, Glad we are both on the same track!

I may have to try that, I'm past due on a new UDR body
Exocaged RC for sure your UDR body has seen better days lol the traxxas blue UDR body is pretty sharp
nice patch work bro
I’m going to experiment with rear braces to stop body damage in the rear. First run, bent the body. Bad design

It makes for a good patch. But in the end the bodies still get torn up.
Would this glue break polycarbonate body it also from traxxas??
no it shouldn't cause any damage
I did the whole rear end with tape and black evostick. Same outcome. Shoegoo is bucks. Evostick dog bollouxs is cheap but may not be in US.

Could you use the ar60 on the Optimus 3 or would there be link clearance issues?
way way too wide for competition
I have found that if you pretreat your new body's with flex-seal and fiber tape they last much longer.
I disagree, they need rear support for the body. If I figure something out I’ll let you guys know.
Yeah the Xmaxx is well known as a body killer.
Even with that fix, there is no support to stop it from happening again right away. 120$ last 1-2 runs. Arrrggg
I used gorilla tape on the inside of the body
Same
Same way I fixed my hernia
1st!!!!
2nd!
