Crafting A Doll With Mudlarking Finds And A Family History

  • This week we were on holiday at my mum's house. We decided to craft a new doll there as there is a strong family history of mending dolls. Come and see what that history is and the making of a new teeny tiny doll :)
We have not been able to make any new things to sell this week but next week we will try to put more in the shop to make up for it :)
    www.etsy.com/u...
We have also opened a Ko-fi account, so if you wanted to support us by buying us a metaphorical cup of coffee it would be greatly appreciated xx

Much love to you both, from your fellow crahfter from Canada’s gorgeous East Coast! I actually kinda’ really love how you say it, Fleur...never stop! Repeat after me...”embrace the ‘crahft!’” Your ability to create little worlds in your quiet, thoughtfully produced vlogs is outstanding (former tv producer here). Thank you for inviting us into your history...your family...your lovely, unique cozy corner! ❤️🇨🇦❤️

I absolutely Adored watching this video and my Heart is so touched that you chose to share such an important part of your life with me, with us. We Love You all the more.
The gifts you received must have been an overwhelming surprise. Bless their Hearts. There are so many kind-hearted people and so many Love you. Before you know it, you'll need an add on to your house for the gifts. When you give you receive. It's a natural law of the universe. : )
Oscar made the perfect pillow for your Lovely LouElla and you made a fine outfit for her Kate.Did I hear you say her name is LouElla? That was cute when Sunny decided to include his twinkle toes in the film shot of arms and hands, legs and feet. That still shot applied to a canvas bag for bottle or beach glass hunting, sure would be cool.Sand colored with turquoise or black outline and lettering?
Hugs, pets and scratches wherever appropriate, from Nance, a Nor Cali Gal. : )

Kate really did look Edwardian whilst stitching. Not many young people still know how to handle a needle and thread, so kudos to you, Fleur, and your Mum, for keeping Kate and Oscar grounded in the domestic arts. How wonderful of you to share your family history of doll reclamation -- you come by it naturally to have your own manufacture of reclaimed doll parts into whole ones.

  • @weeu1

Amazing the bits and pieces the Doll House held. Every room filled with wonder, enough to make one smile or giggle. The Parlor was busy full of dolls, some barely clothed and others well...naked. Not even a pair of knickers. Oh but they had their foot wear covered. They were all sitting around as if an afternoon Tea and crumpets party was about to happen.
Lovely "Edwardian" blouse daughter had on. And Oscar, so cute and bubbly like sister. Nice that he knows how to sew. Seems to be a forgotten art here in the states (USA-California) for some. So kuddos to Oscar. The itsy bitsy doll turned out perfectly. Makes me wish I could be in the 4th seat at your table, making my own little doll. Taking the "Norma" name is a heart warming idea. My Mom's name was Wilma Jean. I love that name. So thank you so much for the relaxing feel-good video, it was amazing.

Well done Kate! Like Al said, your channel is magical, from your crafting, to your film locations, to the excitement you feel when you find something amazing that other people might see as rubbish. It is so nice to see talent being passed down from generation to generation and I am glad Oscar got in on the action as well. Sewing and doll repair are not just for females, highlighted by the fact that the original dolls hospital owner was a man. I really enjoy all of your videos and crafting and I hope you are having fun making them too. The doll house was beautiful as well!

Some ideas for crafting with the things you guys find mudlarking. You can craft wind chimes out of the porcelain plates, cups, pieces of glass, sea glass, stuff like that. You make keychain, you can bore a hole in the item about them on a key chain. You could make sun catchers with the sea glass. You make earrings or mini mosaics. Or even Christmas tree ornaments. For other ideas you can check out pinterest. I hope you try some of these things at some point. 💕💜💕💜💕💜💕🥰👍🏻🇬🇧🇩🇰🇬🇧

    Loved the video!
Hint it is easier to see the doll body and parts THEN cut them out, turn right side out and stuff.

I agree she looks Edwardian. Beautiful, the look suits her. Kate resembles her Great Gran Norma. I have heard those tiny dolls called pocket dolls because they fit in a little girls pocket. Here in the US, they were sometimes put in Christmas stockings. Often they were the only doll a family could afford to purchase. They were easily lost out of the pocket of the apron cover all that little girls often wore to protect their dresses. One of my favorite childhood books was called Hitty, Her first Hundred Years by Rachel Fields is a story about such dolls, It is written from the doll’s perspective. I would suggest you purchase it from Amazon. If I could find my copy, I would send it to you but I believe it got damaged in storage .
