Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor SpinScrub Cleaner - Review and Demo
This is an EXCELLENT cleaner for hard floors! The scrub brushes paired with the water cleaning system help really get up dirt and grime off your hard floors such as wood laminate, tile, sealed hard word, and others leaving them shiny and clean. It's easy to use and fairly inexpensive. A great addition to your cleaning supply! (We bought the Shark Sonic Duo prior to this and it did not do a good job at all - this beats the Shark for sure on hard floors!)

where do you find the solution? 2:53
We use the Bissell Hard Floor Cleaning Solution. I believe you can get it at Targer or Walmart, but it's also available on Amazon here: amzn.to/2CY9Mvw
I'm not going to plug a sale for any particular product. Though I will say, make sure whatever cleaning solution you use corresponds with your floor manufacturer cleaning recommendations. People have been known to damage their floors with the incorrect cleaning solution!
I buy it at Walmart
I like this guy. He didn’t spend 5 min. telling how to take it out of the box. Directions easy peasy.
haha - yeah, I'm one of those apparently strange people who doesn't get the whole "unboxing" thing. I want to see the product in action and yes, see what comes with it, but why do I want to watch someone open a box and take everything out?!?! I think we're in the minority though...
For the 33 people who thumb down the video: it not a directional video. Hoover has a RUclips Channel for this. This is a person review of it
Hoover FloorMate and FloorMate Deluxe: How To Use (FH40160 and FH40150)
Well, at least you get it! :-)
I bought this off the walmart website for under $65 and literally just used it this morning at a jobsite. At first glance, the lobby floor does not really ever look dirty before we mop it with a regular mop and bucket. I used this thing and the water that came back through had filled up with black water, it was incredible.
First time I heard Agony was in a shearing shed in remote New Zealand on a cassette in an only average player ... took ages to identify the origin and info .. I still play it on guitar...
Thanks for this video...I hate reading directions and this got me going...I love this machine!
Glad you're enjoying it. Yeah, instructions are so boring!
Any ideas how to fix a hose when it cracks and breaks and there is no more suction can’t take it apart, I think they should improve the hose to be more pliable because it’s really hard plastic and after using it several times the hard plastic and the rings break and there ain’t nothing else you can do. Any suggestions.
How often would you use this? Once a month and then sweep and swifter in between?
I purchased a Hoover FloorMate model 3400, a few years ago and I liked it very much; however the scrubbing brushes wore out and now they tell me after 4 years it is obsolete and I can't buy a new brush block. I don't think I would buy another Hoover brand machine again for fear that they would obsolete the product after only a few years. I have tried this one shown and it is a toy compared to the model 3400 wide scrubber.
Look for replacement brushes on eBay.
I’ve had mines lil over 10 years and love it
Wow - that's a long time. I think we're on year 5 or so. It really is great!
So what’s with all the reviews on Amazon saying it goes out in a few months ???! I was so close to purchasing this but the comments threw me off 😑
@@sgjesse13 The older models were quality. New ones have issues with motors and power switches.
I can't wait to get mines too.
*mine
looking for an update on this - how long did the scrubbers last, and did anyone find damage to their hardwood floors over years of use?
My cleaning fluid leaks out as soon as I put it in The machine, any idea how to fix that? It’s brand new
I'm sorry - no idea what would be causing that or how to fix it (it's hard without looking at the machine in person to see it).
My friend hates to admit this to her friends, but this was her favorite Christmas present. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g While I used to do the floors, since she hated doing them, this has changed things in our house. In one easy to use motion it sucks, dampens, cleans and dries the floor with a super clean and walk on a minute later surface. Load up the tank with solution and water to make it ready is about all you have to do. The big tank setting will do our kitchen, dinning room, hallway and entry with no problems. We do a light vacuum or sweep first to get rid of the big stuff, but if you floor isn't that bad, you wouldn't have too. We have kids, dog, neighbor kids, and winter crud, so our floors are usually that bad. It will handle anything, but just gets dirty faster and more hair is why we might get the big stuff. We can do everything from pulling it out to sucking to cleaned up in about 30 minutes, so it makes it quick and easy. Biggest thing is the floors are pretty much dry after you move the vacuum over them. No tracking, waiting, or foot prints everywhere. Cleaning is easy with sink rinse and let it air out a bit to dry. 5 minutes to cleanup and set to dry.I give credit to my sister, as she is a professional clean freak and this is her baby with about 1,000 sft of floor that has to be cleaned. She LOVES this and that is why we now have one. Great buy!
How do you take it apart to clean it? I got the brushes off. How does the squeegee thing come off the front to clean what is caught up in it?
Hello! Can you explained how to replace the scrubbers?
You don't replace them individually, but as a whole - it just pulls out. Here's another reviewer's video showing how it works: ruclips.net/video/88Gfkx_-aow/видео.html
I have had three of these machine during the last 5 years thinking each time i won't have the same problem. The first time i used one it was great when it worked, but the push button on/ off button would only sometimes work. Then I called Hoover and they sent me another, believe it again did the same thing. Because I loved the way it cleaned my floors , i got rid of that non working machine and bought another hopping it would be different. Nope still had a problem with the switch again. I called Hoover and told them about the problems with their machine switch so they could maybe change to a different switch. Looks like they still have not listened to the consumer. I will not buy another until the switch is changed.
Good job it’s always easier to sell a product that you believe I just one
thanks
I have the same one but missing the scrubber part, do you know the part number or the model number of this machine, thanjs
I do not know - I no longer have this cleaner. Sorry!
Great wouldve been nice to see you run the machine. I have an older version and would still like to see it running. Its just a little different than mine. Still a good review thanks
I have small gaps between my hard wood floors. My floors were pre finished before installing can I use this machine on my floors
I couldn't say for sure - I can only offer you my own experiences. It does put out quite a bit of water - of course it also sucks that water back up, but it doesn't leave your floor completely dry. I would say that if you're comfortable using a wet mop on those floors, this wouldn't be that much different, but if you're not comfortable using a wet mop on them, then you probably shouldn't use this either. OR you'd want to make sure to do one section at a time and after using this go back over with a dry mop or something to fully absorb the water out of those cracks...
hollywoodfrodo thanks for the pro tips lol 👍🏻
Can this be used on a Berber low pile rug?
I wouldn't recommend it. It's designed specifically for hard floors and even though the rug is low pile, this isn't designed to be able to pull the water out of it.
Is this similar to 1st version where you can vac or dry vac floors then switch over to wet scrub then like u mentioned, stop the brushes and vac any left over water up?
No, this really doesn't work as a "dry vac" - it's only meant to be used with solution/water and to suck up water/liquid...
@@hollywoodfrodo ok..thnx
I have a brand new machine. first time use. it won't suction at all. so no debris involved. any advice?
Hmmm... It's hard to tell without looking at it. Mine just worked - nothing special to do that I can think of. Maybe it's just a bad unit? I'm assuming you've tried unplugging it and starting over?
How do you take it apart and clean it?
Unfortunately I no longer have this cleaner and can't really remember how we disassembled for cleaning.
I'll check it and list experience
I have this product but no water is going into the dirty bottle once cleaned. What am i doing wrong? I poured the water and cleaning solution into the right bin.
That's odd. Water goes out from the clean bin onto the floor - then as the mop sucks the dirty water up it goes into the dirty water bin. Is your mop not sucking in water? Is it correctly putting water onto the floor when you pull the trigger?
When I put it on dry water still comes out
I just opened mine, assembled, and used it for the first time. Can anyone tell me why mine isn't sucking up the water like in this video? It's leaving streaks/quite a bit of water still. 🧐
check left side for dry or wet knob
I have had my vacum for less than one year. I turned the red button on then it stoped. I keep turning it on but it doesnt turn on. What am I doing wrong.
Yikes - that's hard to tell without being there. I would definitely call their customer support. I can't remember now because we've had our several years, but it should have a year warranty. OR they may know exactly what to tell you to do to get it working.
Does This Work On Hard Tile Floors ?
yeah, we use it on the tile floor in our kitchen
hollywoodfrodo thanks but does it also works like a buffer does ?
@@KingSupaBoii No, not really like a buffer would. It doesn't really "polish" the floor, just cleans it really well.
You could have talked about the solutions. How much water vs. cleaner
Yeah, I guess I could have done that, though I'm sure I just followed the instructions on the solution itself.
I do have a question. The front part that is over the top of the brushes came separately. I see it on the machine but don’t know how to put it on.
Did you buy it new? I don't recall that piece ever being separate on ours.
Eric Wrye , it was separate and even wrapped in a separate clear bag. I did figure out that it just snapped on. By the way, after using it, I really appreciated your instructions. I was totally confident that I knew what I was doing. This is NOT a commercial floor cleaner but does a great job. For the price, I’d be okay with replacing it in a couple years. I’ll never go back to a mop or the hands and knees method when this is easier and does a better job. Thanks again!
@@sdlundt Ah, so glad you figured it out and are enjoying it. It really does clean well with much less effort!
How well does it scrub? Not sure how fast the brushes spin, but my kids spill sticky stuff on the tile and was hoping it could scrub it off.
It scrubs pretty well, but it's meant more to get dirt/grime out. Depends on just how sticky the stuff is. Probably could get it out but might take several extra times of going over it.
Have you ever just pre-treated one of the tough spots to loosen it up? Wondering if that would be the best idea. Thanks for responding!
No - honestly, we've only used it when it's time to do a thorough house cleaning. If something spills on the floor, rather than get this out, we just clean it with good ol' man power.
'Thanks for the video. I have this machine and it works great. I haven't use it lately and needed some refresher instructions. By the way, My wife and I love your floors. If you don't mind, would you share the type and color of the flooring?
I'm afraid I can't help you there. We sold that place and move a couple of years ago... It's wood laminate flooring, but no idea what brand/color... They were nice floors!
Which side do you fill up?
If you're facing it head on, it'd be the one on the right. If you're standing behind it, it'd be on your left.
what do you suggest for unsealed wood floors? My mid-century modern house has 50 year old unsealed wood floors.
I honestly couldn't say - I am definitely not a floor cleaning expert. My focus is on reviewing products I have tested and used myself. So this device is great for floors it works on, but probably not good for unsealed wood floors. Since I don't have those, I haven't had to find a device to clean them.
Never pour the dirty water down the sink. I pour mine in the toilet where it belongs.
Probably a good idea...
The fish need something to eat.
ummm, the sink and toilet water go to the same place
=O
tom steve youre so dumb...
what does the trigger do ?
Do you have to use a special solution as recommended by Hover or can one use any solution one likes
I believe you can use any solution, but you'd want to make sure it was one that is clearly indicated to be used for the surface you're using it on.
Erwin Erwin - non soluble is recommended.
Non solvents, I googled this and a lot of people recommended me. Clean, pinesol, vinegar or essential oils 🤷🏼♀️ but since the solution is $7 on amazon and $10 at home depot or Walmart I’m just going to stick with it
Will it work on bathroom tiled floors?
It will - but if the grooves between the tiles are very deep, it might not clean deep enough.
Buyer beware! you will likely only get a years use out of this product. if you choose to use the warranty to have your unit repaired you will be subject to a lengthy wait for parts. in the event that they are unable to repair your unit and it's replaced under warranty you will certainly wait a ridiculous length of time for your replacement. I have been waiting for over six weeks for my replacement unit. apparently a Chinese conglomerate has recently bought Hoover and this is contributed to these issues.
is there heat?
No. You use hot water from the tap, but no built in heat.
Hi there, I'm having problems with mine leaking from the back anybody else having this problem as well??
would it be ok to use this on are rugs?don't want to buy 2 different machines.
thanks
Probably not. It's specifically made for hard/smooth surfaces. Yeah, kinda annoying having to have two different machines, but a machine that specializes in one specific thing will usually be better than a machine that's trying to do multiple things in one.
U try in the carpet,?
Thank you 🙏
Your welcome - glad you found it helpful.
Can you use it to clean carpet?
No - this is for hard floors only.
No u idiot
😂😂😂
Do you recommend this or a steam mop for hard floor or maybe both?
Just got the floormate I love it more than when I had a steam mop
Random question - is your stove an induction range? It looks like mine. :)
Yes, it was...or still is...but is no longer mine since we moved out of that place. One of the things we miss the most - absolutely LOVE induction stove top. Better than gas or electric!
I liked the review! I’ll go to the Hoover review; however, this was a review by a person who has children, has a dog, and is not obligated to push a product. As far as I can tell, he’s not getting a kickback from Hoover:). I give it a thumbs’ up.
Thanks, Pamela! Not, not hired by Hoover. :-) We bought this and own it and still use it. Just so you know IF you click the link in the description that takes you to the product on Amazon AND you decide to buy it on Amazon, I do get a few cents from them - helps support my channel. But of course, I alway say to buy it from wherever you can find the best price! Thanks for watching.
How do you get doghair out of the brushes?
There's no easy way to do that. Thankfully our dog is short haired dog. But with this kind of cleaner, it's meant more to clean the dirt and grime off the floor and not to pick up dog hair and dust and stuff, so it's better to start with a vacuumed surface - this is more of the deep cleaning.
Hi man...can you do a review about chairs for your home office please! if is any help my wait is 250 pounds- thanks again for the videos.
Rophoenix ruclips.net/video/X26KDgplMwo/видео.html - Best chair for the price by far. Had mine for 4-5 years now and still love it!
will this whiten grout in the floor?
I couldn't say for sure since I haven't used it for that specifically - it seems like it would at least help, but not sure if it would completely whiten it.
+hollywoodfrodo thanks
I wish you'd given the dimensions. I have a small storage space.
It's a fairly small footprint - about 12 in x 12 in.
Love this machine!
me too. :-)
Labor Day sale on Hoover site
Thumbs up from me.?
Mine leaked everywhere!!
I bought one of these from Hoover about 12 years ago and it was absolute junk. This looks promising as I'm sure technology has improved. I'll wait to see what the reviews say long term.
1 Downfall mine stopped working after just 2 years
Long handle scrub brush, mop, bucket with wringer, floor cleaner, works five times faster and cleaner. Used this device twice and will never use again.
To each his own I always say. What works great for one person doesn't necessarily work great for everyone.
There’s no demo?
Guess it just depends on what you're looking for. There is demo footage scattered throughout the video of me using the machine.
What the foot was that....
Is there a reset button on
Me
I don't have this cleaner anymore, but I don't recall a reset button...
Thank you, awesome!
Thanks for watching!
There is hardly any water coming out to clean.
A naked mole rat wrapped in the warm cocoon like deception of modern civilization
Soon as the cocoon is busted you become a terrified quivering victim of the nearest predator .. .. then I wake up!!! Oh! I have to vacuum the wood floors.. killer video✌️🙂
It's not THAT great on my tile floors.
Reasonably priced? It's dirt cheap right now.
Oh this was... 7 years ago ppbtbtb
Could you use this to shampoo your carpet just wondering lol ?
No - that would not be a good thing to do.
Doesn’t suck up hardly any water. That sucks. Seems to scrub ok
So you're saying it sucks that it doesn't suck... ;-)
Home Depot
Amazon you find a solution
Painfully repetitive, misrepresentation you are not suppose to move it that fast as if it was a mop, when you go slower, the spinheads actually have a chance to thouroughly scrub and suck up the dirty water without ever using the dry floor feature.
No demonstration...?
ruclips.net/video/hgkUNpkNtDU/видео.html I mean, yeah, maybe not as much of a demo as you were hoping for... I just tried to show a few examples throughout.
This says nothing anywhere about how to Fix the On/Off switch. Mine has been replaced twice professionally. But Nowhere does it show how to take it apart yourself to get to the switch
It is a piece of junk I have one and it's going in the trash
waste of my money...

This video is a complete waste of time. It shows you nothing but his view.
That's pretty much what it is - my thoughts and review of products and what I like about them or think they are good at and why I recommend them. Sorry it wasn't what you were looking for.
how is it on tile floor? will it get into the grout?
Pretty good on tile floors - it will get into the grout so long as it's not too deep or too narrow. Standard grout around large tiles seems to be no issue for it at all.
