There is always a bias when talking about clothing styles, but objectively there are fewer options for girls who don't like pink if they want to shop in the girl's section. I can't seem to find a shirt I fit in even though I ware adult x-small and children medium, It's still hard to find a shirt that isn't pink and is still mature. I feel like there are so many sides to this situation and a lot to think about. 1. the people designing t-shirts put a lot of effort into trend research and creating whats best for their target market so I don't think its fair to blame the designers entirely because they can't cater to everyone. 2. It's interesting to see the size difference of the mens and women's section! I'm assuming its maybe because girls have more options than guys in shirts? 3. I wonder if companies purposely have more "girly" designs in the girls section because they know that girls DO have the option of shopping in the guys section. just some things to think about.. .

Yesterday I went to target after watching this video and my mom pointed out a pink shirt that said something cute and I remembered Niki says that there basic and ugly. So I didn’t get it but now that I look back that shirt was cool. I’ve seen so many people dressing like Niki and still Niki is “I’m not like other girls” Niki is basically telling kids that wearing basic shirts that are pink or have cute saying on the shirts is ugly and basic and that they should go for, in my opinion Niki shirts. But cloths don’t have a gender so I don’t know why this video is still up. I think that Niki is trying to be unique when she has the same style as like millions of people out there. I feel like there are so many sides to this situation and a lot to think about.
1. the people designing t-shirts put a lot of effort into trend research and creating whats best for their target market so I don't think its fair to blame the designers entirely because they can't cater to everyone.
2. It's interesting to see the size difference of the mens and women's section! I'm assuming its maybe because girls have more options than guys in shirts?
3. I wonder if companies purposely have more "girly" designs in the girls section because they know that girls DO have the option of shopping in the guys section.

Yesterday I went to target after watching this video and my mom pointed out a pink shirt that said something cute and I remembered Niki says that there basic and ugly. So I didn’t get it but now that I look back that shirt was cool. when you were shopping, you purposefully picking clothes that are stereotypically feminine in style and color and putting them against stereotypical masculine color schemes and designs is unfair. there were plenty of shirts passed that did not fall into the box you placed “girls’” fashion in. it’s like you picked the extremes of each section to try and show that people stereotype girls as purely “girly girls” and hyper-feminine, when in all actuality, this video just criticized and cut down a group of women who wear feminine clothing as uncreative or basic. you tried to say “look, they’re stereotyping girls, we’re not all like this, but if you are, it’s not fashionable!!” when you became the “i’m not like other girls” stereotype by even bringing this up. clothes have no gender. colors have no gender.

I totally agree. It's like by saying 'I'm not like other girls," she really means "I'm better than other girls" and it's just really annoying and off-putting.
