I had a heart attack Friday afternoon, after a non stressed day, so it made no sense to me, but after resting and it got worse and worse I realized I had not gone to God, but then when I did (in the spirit), I started declaring who I was in Christ and then declared that I believed in the blood of Jesus. No more had I said that than the pain immediately ceased. I was so happy, then asked if this was a test, and before I had that said, I knew in my heart it was true.

Expectation plus desire, plus voice of authority create the placebo effect. The placebo effect is very powerful in fighting pain, creating feelings such as tingling and burning, and relieving symptoms; but does not cure the disease. The placebo effect can be permanent in some cases, but temporary in most. Everything mentioned in these testimonies - the tingling, the heat, the lack of pain, and more - and all the new abilities - moving in ways they could not do before, kneeling, moving the neck - all these and more are common when expectation, trust in authority (doctor for example) and desire to be healed are present. Add to this the abilities that adrenaline produce in the body and we have all you will ever see at Bethel or in a Benny Hinn Crusade.
Most of the times Jesus preached to crowds, everyone was healed. You will never see that at Bethel. Also, when Jesus healed, there were times bodies changed physically in the presence of many. You will hear testimonies of this at Bethel (metal plates and screws removed) but you will not see it because these testimonies are not true.
If these are real miracles, then God is not better than Pharaoh's magicians who could repeat the first of three of Moses' signs. Only God could go beyond the miracles of Pharaoh's magicians. Bethel has not gone beyond and none of these testimonies have gone beyond the world's abilities and our own bodies' reaction to what I mentioned.
I believe God works miracles, but Bill Johnson (like so many other popular healers) capitalizes on trickery, adrenaline and the abundance of the placebo effect. He also capitalizes on people's desire to see and experience the presence and power of God.
Years ago I was a true believer in these things, but as I read more of the Bible, I came to a crisis when I realized that many of these teachings did not line up with scripture as claimed. I struggled because I experienced feelings and what I called the power of God. When my struggle reached a high point while holding my Bible, I prayed, "What about all my experiences?" I looked down and I read, "Let God be true but every man a liar (Romans 3:4)."
If some placebo has worked for you, praise God. But my heart breaks for those hurting who are punished in life by Bethel's teaching for what they call insufficient faith.

Check out "Healing Journeys" by Andrew Wommack Ministries here on RUclips. They have testimonies of healings that simply can't be explained with the placebo effect, for instance MS, cancer, autism, brain damage, stroke, fibromyalgia, bipolar, epilepsy or allergies.

@Susan Throop I believe in miracles and believe I have witnessed several. It is the Bible and the Holy Spirit that led me to "test the spirits whether they are of God" and "examine all things." Following Jesus is imperative. Following "brother Johnson" is following deception and Jeremiah told us that the false prophets lead people to believe lies.

Hi I totally agree with you all these healing services are about pain issues, what about incurable diseases, also it puzzles me why God would need to use healing services when he's powerful enough on his own, another hing that annoys me is when they preach that if not healed you need to keep your faith very hard when your so ill and trusting to be saved.

I hate to talk about my pastor... though he won't lay hands on us. He's got an issue with, what he calls "his bubble" being invaded. 1 day God told me to go see him to talk, while I was there I asked him to lay hands on me to deliver me from this pain. Well, he refused to though offered to pray with me & asked another church member to come pray with us. During the prayer all I could think about was "I can't believe he refused to lay hands on me." So no deliverance that day. Yes, I still have the pain.
