- Meteora is one of the most unbelievably stunning places I have ever seen. It is a combination of nature's beauty, rich history and incomparably impressive architecture! These ancient monasteries were built on top of giant rocks to protect themselves from their enemies & to create an isolation from the world to have a full connection to the Divine.
We spent 2 days & 2 nights in Kastraki (a small village next to Meteora) because we wanted to pass more time exploring and enjoying this majestic location. I am pretty sure that the experience is not as impressive when you only spend a few hours in Meteora together with an organised tour. However, if you only have limited time in Greece, a day trip will suffice.
