Fun fact Peter Benchley argued with Steven Spielberg over the ending of Jaws and said, "Tanks don't explode from a bullet; nobody's going to believe it." However Steven Spielberg said "If I've got them in my hands for 2 hours they'll believe anything." That's part of what I loved about this movie and most of his movies.
Given how well this film utilizes the power of suggestion and the building of suspense (Two vital elements to horror films and a lot of movies in general) Spielberg proved himself to be correct in that statement. When it comes to Spielberg and others, that kind of effort and creativity is something to be valued greatly. :D
Makes for a better climax than the novel where the shark just dies from its wounds. Course the Mythbusters did prove Benchley was right about the tank explosion, but doesn’t matter as it’s still awesome anyway 😆
The OG summer blockbuster and made Spielberg the household name he is. I love that the shark didn’t work as it makes the suspense better and we have John Williams’ Oscar winning score to boost the tension. And the performances from the three male leads is truly exciting particularly Robert Shaw’s monologue about the tragedy of the USS Indianapolis; even survivors of the tragedy were awed by Shaw’s telling
Ah. “Jaws” not only was this a well liked movie but it was even the inspiration to shows that would parody or reference Jaws like Spongebob, Jimmy Neutron, Ducktales reboot.
The film is an inspiration. One of the best movies ever made. It reminds me of the lesser known "The Ghost and the Darkness", which was about two killer lions.
11:43 I never understood why they didn't just bring a couple extra hands with guns. Seriously, they had a small army during the prank, why not just have them on hand.
James A. Janisse from Dead Meat mentioned a fact about the shark cage scene in that it was separate footage added into the film. Can't remember his exact words, so you'll have to watch the Kill Count on this.
I haven't read it, but I heard there's a subplot in the book where the Mayor is actually in debt to the mob. I kind of understand the willingness to throw tourists at the hungry shark in that case.
The sharks didn't break down during the first half of the movie. It remained unseen by design. Those scenes were filmed May to early July 1974 and Bruce wasn't scheduled to be used until later in July. They were not meant to be used in the beach attack scenes.
@@LucyLioness100 That was only true for the Orca based scenes, as I said. There is no shark seen much or at all in the first few attacks by deliberate design.
It'd be interesting to see Asylum make a version how it was originally intended, with all the bad ideas like showing the shark a lot and the last shot of a swarm of shark fins heading towards Amity.
When I was a kid, I thought Jaws was a very boring movie, not helping with it's horrible sequels. But thanks to your friend: Logan Ridenbaugh AKA Hewy Toonmore, who said how great that movie was in Jaimetud's Top 12 Best Childhood scares, I fell in love with it.

This movie used to scare me as a kid but I later learned to like sharks
“Smile, you son of a-“ is easily the best scene in the movie

Like the episode called Clams, which is basically a parody of Jaws
Michael McJunkin Don't forget Sonic the Hedgehog on here: RUclips.
Ozzy & Drix did it too.
@@silverdustengine9230 Complete with stock footage of an orchestra which Mr Krabs yelled at.
The Universal Hollywood use to have one of the onscreen Orcas in the Jaws part of the Tram Tour.
(Shark takes control of the boat by using the barrels against them)
Jaws: "Look at me. I'm the Captain now." :P
A timeless classic. Never get tired of watching this absolute masterpiece of horror cinema
i was first introduced to Jaws at the Universal Studios Tram Tour in LA back in August 1995 when i was 4 years old

Heeeeeeerrrrrrrrr's Brucie!

What a classic this movie.
JAWS is a personal favorite of mine. I can’t say the same for the sequels.
James A. Janisse from Dead Meat mentioned a fact about the shark cage scene in that it was separate footage added into the film. Can't remember his exact words, so you'll have to watch the Kill Count on this.

3:48 pretty sure the many people who need those businesses open to stay alive would probably disagree with you.
Jaws: i like to swim naked too!:-)
Frigid Fire Animation Arm woman: I like to swim naked too! *still has nothing to cover her thickly muscular, buxom body, not even liquid*
Eli Quinton Martinez: uh eh whatever but still quiet the interesting movie anyhow i really like Shallows movie a little better:-)
LOVED IT!!!! Jaws is still my number 1 favorite movie! This was so well done!

Plus Bruce kept breaking down and couldn’t be used. This was a great blessing as it makes the tension more palpable & the score emphasizes the mood

Jaws is my all time favorite movie
Even now, the most horrifying thing in this movie is STILL the head coming out of the boat!
i Haven't seen JAWS and yet I'll have to check it out

Nicely done!
