They are one of my favourite animals, My great grandmother and i saw a documentary about sharks when i was little and she asked me why they had sticks in their mouth :) (born in 1925)
I have gone out fishing for sharks multiple times and the greatest moment was pulling in a Hammerhead. Unfortunately it was a small baby but it was still a Hammerhead.
wonderful. so beautiful. only ever been lucky enough to dive with Whte Tips. hope yo dive with Hammers soon. was in northern Philippines years ago...i heard that both Bohol and Cebu have excellent diving with huge sholes of Hammerheads
ERROR: I find it ridiculous that seemingly credible documentaries such as this one make false claims. Apart from a short sequence at 0:12 all of the footage of this video is of the Scalloped Hammerhead (Sphyrna lewinii) and not of the Great Hammerhead (Shpyrna mokarran).
They can grow up to 6 meters. The largest ever caught and confirmed was 20 feet. It also doesn't help that none of this footage actually shows a great hammerhead.
Video about Great Hammerheads. Shows no actual footage of Great Hammerheads. All of these Sharks are Scalloped and Smooth Hammerheads, you can tell from the shape of the cephalofoil.
Its because they are about 1.5 meters, those are scalloped hammerheads, not great hammerheads. The giveaway is that they have those protruding points at the ends of their head. Also, while great hammerheds can become six meters, their average lenght is 3.5 meters.
Glad someone else noticed this...just goes to show you how far discovery really has fallen. Pretty soon they will be just as bad as The Learning Channel and Honey Boo Boo
the hammerhead shark has to be saved so future generations can enjoy its odd looks please help protect this amazing creature

these sharks look so weird. Their body looks all cool and scary and then the head just looks funny
I really love nature but the oil spill had to fuck it up one year and we now have fixed our ocean
I'm so glad i'm not a fish.
I once saw a shark
@Minimagz96
As soon as I found out it was possible to go diving with them
I have set that goal in my mind
They truly are remarkable creatures..I find it so sad that they're going extinct, way to go Mankind!! whooo ~sarcasm~
@Poisendonutperson1 probably because their head resembles a top of the sledge hammer?
1:06 thank god I'm not there
Most of the clips in that video were of Scalloped hammerheads. Can we have the video again with GREAT hammerhead clips please?

The footage is actually showing a smooth hammerhead (those which are smaller, hunt in groups in daytime, and have bumpier cephalopod)
Great hammerheads......... what great hammerheads? These are scallop hammerheads!
yep- check out my channel for cool shark vids
Exactly! Great Hammerheads not only are huge but also have gigantic fins

Not all of the sharks shown are great hammerheads. There are a lot of scenes of scalloped hammerheads.
I,t,s a great hammerhead it just looks a scalloped
six meters?? really?! They are so agile. They seem about 1,5 meters

This is not a Great Hammerhead....It's a Scalloped
half of these shots (or more) are from scalloped hammer heads, not great hammerheads!
