I had to change the engine on my V6 due to timing belt failure. I did it in my driveway with some effort but no need to drop the sub-frame or remove the transmission which made the job a lot easier than what's going on here. It's just too labor intensive to drop the transmission from the bottom especially given the car is only worth about $3500 now.
Estimates I've received all say 9 hours. This comes from Honda, a (licensed) mechanic I know, and a transmission shop. Yes, the amount of work is equal to or more than the Kelly Blue Book value of the car.
Thanks for the interest, I suggest you contact your local certified auto repair shop for the most accurate pricing as it could vary by several factors.

How many hours of work was that? Almost looks like the repair cost as much as the vehicle is worth.
